Who is the face of the MCU now ? Who will be ?

I want it to be X-Men in general like it was in the 80's and 90's. At least in terms of public perception at that time.

I get what you mean, but I don't think many people want to go back to a time when X-Men hogged the limelight. MCU's success proves the other characters have merit as well.
True, but X-Men is so continuously relevant it'll be kinda unavoidable tbh. People are REALLY invested in what that team symbolizes.

As we can rule out Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and Thor right now...

One of these is the face of MCU now - Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Doctor Strange and Ant-Man

Love the character but I'm pretty sure Ant-man is not on anyone's short list.
Maybe, but he's getting a full trilogy besides appearing in 3 ensemble movies, that's more than what many other characters didn't get.

Hulk and Thor are still around and so I'm thinking Thor, Black Panther and Hulk as the top 3

Fantastic Four and X-Men will become the top faces and get the biggest spotlight though

Ironically enough, I'm currently involved in at least two separate conversations on different boards arguing against people's pessimism about the idea that Ant-Man 3 won't happen at all, but I really have to point out that based on current information, you really don't know that he's getting a full trilogy at all. It remains a possibility, imo, and is one I'm definitely hoping will become reality, but it is still at this point entirely unconfirmed.

Also, he didn't appear in 3 ensemble movies. He appeared in Civil War and Endgame. There was no Ant-man in Infinity War. Based on number of appearances, he's currently tied with Dr. Strange and Black Panther, who haven't even had their first sequel yet. He's also tied with the Guardians. He's behind Spider-man, who debuted later. And the only reason he's two movies ahead of Captain Marvel - who is the only MCU title character with fewer appearances - is because Captain Marvel just debuted this year.

He doesn't even have any distinct or unique powers and abilities.

Then you haven't been paying attention, assuming you've seen the films he's appeared in. The films clearly show he's a superhuman on par with Captain America.

As for the face of the MCU, I think it's going to be Danvers, T'Challa, Strange and Thor. Sorry Wolverine fans, I just don't see him becoming the "face" of the MCU.

It really is funny how things move in circles when you think about it. In the 90s, the properties that kept Marvel Comics on the map were X-Men, Fantastic Four and their spin-offs. The 2000s/2010s come and it was Iron Man, Thor, Cap and the other Avengers becoming household names for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 2020s are coming, and we have the X-Men and the Fantastic Four to look forward to and no doubt with the Disney machine behind them, they'll be big again.

I say all that to say that it really would be apropos if the Fantastic Four are the faces of the MCU going forward. They are Marvel's First Family.

By the time the X-Men are going all out in the MCU I'd imagine they'll be winding down some of these other characters.

And Captain Marvel had a ton of comics success more recently. Also, she already starred in one of the most successful superhero movies of all time (made the same amount of money by itself as the first three X-men films combined), so the claim that no one really knows her is obviously ridiculous.
Nothing says we can't have both. I love CM being the face of MCU, but I also what Storm to be a part of that when she gets here. Three male characters were the face of the MCU, we can have more than one female character be a part of it too.

The X-Men (and Fantastic Four) have a GIANT problem when it comes to taking over from Iron Man and Captain America as the faces of the MCU. They aren't actually around yet. They could still be years away. Maybe one day they can be, but having them be the next faces to take over from the likes of Black Panther and Captain Marvel seems far more realistic in terms of timing.

Dammit!!!! I wanna faceless face of the MCU! LOL.

Oh, I definitely want Storm to be the face of the X-Men/a face of the MCU, when she gets here. I think it's long overdue for her to be done justice on screen, and the perfect way to differentiate the MCU X-men franchise from the fox movies.

I'm just calling BS on the claim I responded to that she's 'more deserving' than Captain Marvel and that 'no one really knows' who Captain Marvel is.

No one knew who Iron Man was either. Recent years have shown that awareness isn't a big factor in the success of these films. Aquaman, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel have made far more money recently than Batman, Superman, and the X-Men.

Maybe

Or maybe one of these Fembots?

I knowwww
I just still hate Singer and all the people at Fox who cast Halle friggin Berry instead of the woman who was born to play Storm

I believe I read Bassett was Fox's first choice but she turned down the Storm role.

Anyone who would still headline a MCU movie is a face of the mcu, assuming Ant-Man 3 would hit the theaters one day.

Ant-Man might not be that popular, but lets face it, his first/2nd movie still outgrossed the first mcu Captain America/Hulk/Thor film. And he also played an important role in Endgame.

He's not in the top of the list, but not in the short list? when there's only like 10 characters that got a solo film so far.

The X-Men and the Fantastic Four (despite the reviews) were popular though in the 2000s due to those movies. Iron Man and Hulk were the only mcu heroes (excluding spider-Man of course) to headline a film in the 2000s. And Incredible Hulk wasn't even as successful at the box office as the highest grossing X-Men and Fantastic Four film at the time.

By that definition Ant-man is already 'the face of the MCU', and so is Dr. Strange, so is Black Widow, and soon Shang-Chi and Blade. So was Cap before Avengers, but arguably not Hulk after Avengers. I don't think your definition really matches anyone else's here. When people talk about the faces of the MCU, they're talking about the top 2 or 3 most recognizable/most associated with the MCU lead characters, not every character with their own movie. And the most common short list for the position judging by most of the responses in this thread currently sits at Carol, T'Challa, Strange and Thor, with Spidey pulled out of the competition by Sony and a lot of people having high expectations for Wolverine, Storm and the Fantastic Four whenever they get here. A few people put out some other dark horse candidates, but of all the actual currently existing lead characters, Ant-man is clearly in last place by almost any metric.

Thats just your own personal opinion. Its not like Ant-Man was merely a supporting character in 1 movie and was never seen again. He's not the first thing that would come out of people's minds when the mcu is mentioned, but to say he's not one of the faces of the mcu when he already headlined a mcu film twice (less than a dozen of characters within the mcu have managed to achieve that feat) is... well thats just your opinion.

And unlike Shang Chi and Blade, those Ant-Man films were already released and seen by the public. And I said ten characters (I counted Black Widow as the 10th character since her film was already filmed and is already an established character in the mcu). I obviously didn't include characters that have yet to appear in the big screen.

Also, I've read the first post of this thread which seems to be subjective. Scarlet Witch was mentioned out of all characters for example.

I'm not sure who the face of the MCU will be going forward. The early 2020's is kinda gonna be a reset for several franchises such as the MCU, DCU films, Batman, Bond, and Star Wars, so its kinda hard for me to say at this point who the face will be or who the GA may gravitate towards.
