Homecoming Who Should Be The Love Interest?

I really hope they do the same thing as the comic and have Aunt May drop her name 4 or 5 times over a couple of films before introducing her.:hehe:

I feel MJ has to be involved even if it's just Aunt May introducing her at the end.

ya, she should appear early on in the movie, but, always just missing Peter, have Aunt May talking about her, and/or even having her stop by to visit and met Peter but he always disappears just before she shows up...

show a few almost chance encounters between the two, so, when they finally met it feels always like fate (for reference, like in "how I met your mother")

I'm worn out when it comes to Spidey love. Seriously. There's been so much of this stuff in both franchises. Give it a rest this time, you don't even need it.

Yeah, I would like Aunt May to say to Pete she wants him to meet Anna Watson's niece, with the great personality, in the first movie, but Pete keeps avoiding it. MJ never appears in the first movie.

The second movie have scenes where Pete's friends like Liz or Betty meet her, and they are flabbergasted, but we the audience never see her, something blocks her face. Then introduce her at the end with the famous, "Face it, Tiger. You just hit the jackpot!"

Then, after doing a PROPER death of Gwen Stacy (from a proper Bryan Cranston Norman Osborn/Green Goblin :cwink:) in a later movie, adapt the famous scene where party girl MJ decides to stay and comfort Pete.

Ultimately I want the classic 616 Mary Jane to become Peter's girlfriend, but I also want it to be like in the original comics where Gwen is his first (true) love. I'm not sure how that could be accomplished over the course of about 3 films.

Which is why I prefer a Netflix series or more Spider-Man films than three.

If this deal with Marvel Studios is expanded so that it gives Sony the ability to use characters whose rights are controlled by Marvel, I think they should ask to use Jessica Drew and 'seed' her into their corner of the MCU by making her one of Peter's classmates and then later give her powers and make her the lead of their female-centric 'side project' film.

I want to see the classic group of Peter, Harry, MJ, Gwen and Flash developed from the first film and continuing throughout the film series.

The problem with superhero TV series is that you can really feel the lower budget. They are mostly filled with bad or mediocre actors and have some pretty bad cinematography and effects. I've seen some Arrow, Flash and Agents of Shield and I don't want Spider-Man anywhere near that level of low quality.

If they were approaching this new franchise like the Harry Potter films, then maybe. Otherwise, that kind of thing works better for something serial like television than it does for a film franchise (with films now expected to come out every 3 years).

I think MJ should make an appearance in the first film. All of the major players should be established early on. This isn't television or the comics where you can spend a lot of time focusing on the little details. You've got to look at the big picture.

Treating the story too much like an ongoing television series was, in my opinion, one of the faults of the TASM franchise.

Why not?

They've already done MJ and Gwen. If they're really going back to high school, they can give Peter a friend who isn't either of those two or Harry. They can be saved for later in his life. A pretty blank slate to do whatever they want with the character without leading fans to be disappointment with her depiction as seen with different versions of his other friends. And that's just speculation with regards to them bothering with another love interest again.

Peter Parker has already been done. Twice.

So let's just use Miles Morales. :o

If they try Gwen again, it's gonna be pretty hard to top Emma Stone's performance from the first TASM.

If they try Mary Jane again, it's gonna be pretty easy to top Kristan Dunst's character. I mean, not even Dunst liked MJ in the original trilogy.

Yes,Exactly! I'd love that!

Emma Stone was great,I take nothing away from her. But the character really wasn't executed properly. Gwen shouldn't have known he was Spidey. That's what made for the tragedy in the original story.

The main difference would be that Peter and Gwen wouldn't be isolated from the rest of the social world this time, hopefully. Emma Stone was great, but as long as we haven't seen Gwen in the social context of what we've seen in the early 616 comics, she's not too hard to top.

Then make it like the Harry Potter films. You can easily get six or seven movies (or more) for Spider-Man!

No, several wrong choices, like making Pete a jerk in the first movie, wasting time on the parents subplot, turning Rhino and Electro into Schumacher-esgue villains, killing off Norman off screen, and turn Harry into meth-goblin for 10 minutes just to kill Gwen were the faults of TASM series.

Yes,Exactly! I'd love that!

Thanks! I want to see MCU handle both Gwen & MJ properly!

I'd like to see them try with Betty, not someone made up for one cartoon.

And then there's this way to reply.

peter parker has never been done in the mcu

so no, let's not just use a second spiderman who's apparently had a tiny comic book history compared to peter parker's comic book legacy

I thought about Betty, but if they're really going back to him being in high school and she's in the film, I'd imagine we'd be getting a Spectacular Spidey toon situation with her being older and not attracted to him like that.

She wasn't much older than him in the original comics. The idea was that she had to quit school and get a job. (To support her criminal brother,IIRC?) So she could conceivably be the same age as Peter.

Yeah, that route is possible.

Her brother was a lawyer, with gambling debts.

Well, it just depends on the age. Like the toon example, Peter was 16 and I think she was like 20-21. It's understandable how someone at that age wouldn't be interested in a 16 year old even though the age difference isn't that much (besides the legal ramifications).

Another option is Debra Whitman.

Thanks,Aziz.
I remember that issue introducing the Enforcers. They could make a cool cameo. Gives Spidey someone to fight before the main baddie is introduced.
