Homecoming Who Should Be The Love Interest?

I always liked Betty,because it was a very natural romance. Peter thought the world of her,then Ned Leeds shows up, and eventually they just grow apart. No huge dramatic break up or anything. Just one of those things that happen in real life.

Something like that sounds kinda long term, which brings up the question of how this new Spider-Man is going to be. Are we looking at the standard 3 films? Or given how Hollywood is liking the idea of 4 or more films coupled with what Marvel has been doing, would we be getting a Peter he goes from a teen to adult and the multiple ladies he encounters? There are plenty of choices...

IMO, most of Peter's romances developed naturally. Especially when compared to other superheroes of the day.

The main difference would be that Peter and Gwen wouldn't be isolated from the rest of the social world this time, hopefully. Emma Stone was great, but as long as we haven't seen Gwen in the social context of what we've seen in the early 616 comics, she's not too hard to top.

She might not be hard to top in terms of characterization, story, and fidelity to the source material, but she'll be hard to top in terms of sheer charisma, talent, and chemistry with the lead actor. Just look at Spider-Gwen. Emma Stone has spawned a whole new generation of Gwen Stacy fans and has changed the perception of the character from meek damsel to feisty hero.

I think they should bring in all the love interests, have Peter have a crush on one, but not get with any of them but have awkward interactions with them all. That mitigates the romance aspect of the story while having fun with it.

Mary Jane - Immediate object of Peter's affection, the new girl who moves next door to him
Gwen Stacy - Childhood friend who is laid back and Peter sees something as a sister, although she doesn't see it the same
Liz Allen - Girl everyone in school wants, doesn't pay Peter much attention until he starts standing out thanks to more confidence
Betty Brant - Secretary at the Bugle, several years older than Peter (lets say 19-21), they sort of have an attraction but it's weird because of the age discrepancy
Felicia Hardy - Black Cat, Spider-Man's love interest more than Peter Parker's.

Cut the palaver and just have it as MJ. The confidante/GF works good.
Marvel aren't going to focus all that much on the romance aspect anyway.
And to get to her, you have to go through Gwen's neck, bringing all the emotional baggage we've already seen before.

Most guys have a crush on a lot of girls in high school, especially if they're nerdy like Parker. Some of them can be in his friend group, ala Gewn, and others could be outside it, ala MJ. I'd like to see Felicia a bit older than him (if he's in high school for all 3 movies have her be a Sr, and if he ages, she can too) depending on how old Parker is, to be an interest in the 2nd movie. I know he ends up with MJ and dragging it out may seem dumb to most people, but putting him with different interests will show him grow, so that when he ends up with MJ it doesn't seem forced or out of place

I'd go with Felicia Hardy. She hasn't been used yet and could be re-imagined as a teenager as opposed to a young adult. They could even have her being the bad girl if they wanted to. That would be different then going for the science wiz kid that Gwen was in the ASM films and the Popular girl that MJ was in the SM trilogy. It would give Peter a striking contrast in terms of love interests with her being the kind of girl that walks on the wild side and is defiant. She's also a character Sony has been trying to exploit since the Raimi days and couldn't do anything with in ASM 2. In terms of actresses I could see Chloe Moretz or Britney Robertson(Tomorrowland , Under the Dome) as Felicia.

Yeah, and it sounds like Marvel is gonna downplay the love interest angle anyway since Raimi and Webb, pretty much beat that horse into the ground.

Felicia would probably be the best choice. We've already had MJ and Gwen, and this new series will be doing its damnedest to differentiate from those films (I think). We got a little Felicia tease in ASM2, but that was barely memorable (and that's a shame because Felicity Jones is awesome).

I think Amanda Seyfriend could make a good Felicia. Plus, she's popular, so that helps. May be too old, but I'm hoping that the rumors are wrong and Peter is older in this film that we've been led to believe.
