Homecoming Who Should Be The Love Interest?

I really don't want them to try and top Emma Stone's portrayal as Gwen this soon afterwards, but I'm not really sure who I'd use then.. It'd be nice to see MJ again but I dunno.

From the leaked e-mails we already know that Marvel doesn't even want to concentrate on Spider-Man's/Parker's love life for a while.

This. And hopefully they stick to that. Every Spidey film thus far has been about the love-angle. Change it up.

Basically, if all else fails, just do what SSM did

This too. Just because there isn't a 'love story' in the first film doesn't mean they can't start introducing important side characters and begin to build upon them. Gwen, Liz, MJ, Sally, Betty, etc.

I like your way of thinking, start building his rich tapestry of supporting characters NOW. Don't just have them pop out of the blue like in previous years

Yes!

Just make straight up action films please.
See, this is another thing I'm a little worried about. The romance angle being so heavily featured was one of the things that has set the Spidey films apart from the others, in both series so far.

Not that it can't work without it, it's just a pretty big change. Curious what they'll do.

Thanks, man. But it would appear you have the same line of thinking by bringing up what TSSM did. It worked really well.

I hope they lighten up on the tone of the films this time and not go all melodramatic with Peter pining on Gwen/MJ etc. Yes let's have the odd little date with Liz, have Peter make a move on Sally etc but I say let the relationship with Gwen evolve rather than just one movie.

Every-other love interest for Peter is a means to an end, the end is Mary Jane. Let's skip to the end this time.

Avoid the serious relationship this time and just have some flirtations with Liz or Betty.

It's got to be Mary Jane. Pepper and Tony are going to be out of the spotlight, Thor and Jane are up in the air, Betty and Hulk aren't happening anytime soon, and who knows what's going on with Steve and Sharon so Marvel needs an iconic relationship.

Mary Jane. Not Gwen again because what happened in the last movie. It would be really odd to bring Gwen back even thought it wouldn't be the same continuity.

I hope not. Peter's personal life is a big part of Spider-Man.

I don't really want a love interest.

I want MJ, but as a best friend who knows his secret.

We've had intense love stories for the character for 15 years now. I think I can live without seeing a love interest for a bit. Flirtations with other MCU female characters, fine but I"m honestly sick of the heavy emphasis on Parker's love life.

Because the relationship drama is an intrinsic part of Peter's character, as is him having to deal with "real life" problems. It always has been and it sets him apart from many other heroes. At least until OMD when Marvel decides to start dismantling anything truly interesting about his character.

I'd rather we keep both Gwen and MJ out of it for now. Someone like Liz Allen, or even Felicia Hardy. I'm still waiting for her to get her time to shine in a movie.

Betty Brant then we get have Aunt May keept talking about MJ for most of her scenes with Peter leading into the iconic doorway scene

Between that and Sony's follies from SM3 to TASM2, the last eight years have not been kind to Spidey; 11 years if you throw in Sins Past right after SM2's success

Speaking of Betty, when will we ever see Rick Jones? I swear in every live action attempt on the Hulk they keep leaving him out

No they don't. When done right they add depth to the character and make them seem more like actual people. Because believe it or not, romance and relationships are a big part of life. And that's been the case with Spidey more so than most other heroes.

I would rather there be a few girls around such as Liz, Gwen and MJ that has his interest but he doesn't end up with anyone in this film.

Possibly in the second or third movie then let him settle down a bit, but no more back forth love fest.

I like this idea. One or two of them could be his close friends. He'd be like one of those effeminate not stereotypically masculine guys who have mostly female friends.

Maybe show the Betty Brant and Ned Leeds dynamic for a couple of movies this time around, instead of delving deep into a relationship right off the bat?

Then they can eventually get on to Gwen and/or MJ.
