Homecoming Who Should Be The Love Interest?

If they bring Mary Jane in I hope they do it like the comics. Make her the hot energetic confident aspiring model/actress MJ who Peter is set up on a blind date with and when he first sees her she says the "face it you hit the jackpot" line. No more Kristian Dunst/Shalne Woodley girl next door takes on MJ. Keep that for characters like Gwen Stacy.

Ya know, I've been thinking and I think for the first time out, there doesn't need to be a love interest at all. Maybe MJ could cameo but that's all that's necessary for the first film. I just think the best course if action is to redefine the films by easing up on the love stuff. I mean it'll play a bigger role as the series moves onwards, but first time out, I think maybe they should avoid it.

I think his lovelife is too important to Peter Parker's story to do away with entirely. Now, I wouldn't worry about it in the MCU Teamups as there really isn't time, but in the solo films where we need to explore Parker's character more thoroughly, it needs to be there, even if it is more of a subplot than it has been in the past.

The romance is definatly too important to the Spiderman mythos to leave out, and Gwen definatly needs to come first. The story just isn't the same if Mary Jane is his first true love.

Peter's love life is huge to spiderman history, but right out of the gate I don't think we need much of it outside of small crushes peter may have at midtown

Agree 100% on the model aspect.
I would prefer a movie where Peter gets no love from any girl. Let him crush on Liz from school, who is too cool to say as much as a single word to him. At the DB let him stutter out responses to Betty, who has no interest in the younger geeky kid. But let those moments be just a line or a single look, and move on to plot.
Meanwhile, the story has zero focus on his love life, because he doesn't have one. Being Spider-Man keeps him from the little bit of normal life he does try to hang onto.
Aunt May can worry about him and suggest getting out their and asking a girl out, assuming he's just too shy. Peter's too caught up with hero business to pay enough attention to her suggestions.
End credits: After the big climatic battle, Peter is ready to finally kick back and be normal, but there's a knock at the door. There's Mary Jane with her line. Peter's caught of guard. The end.

It wouldn't make any sense to bring Gwen back after what happened in the last movie. I know these these are not in the same continuity but still.

If they're skipping the origin then I would suggest having it set after Gwen's death. Have MJ as the main love interest, but I wouldn't have the love story be as centre point as it has been in previous films either.

The problem with Gwen is that we've just seen her big storyline done. Done poorly, but done nevertheless. If you redo her death, then you are just being redundant. If you don't, you are missing out MJ who is a far more popular and, in my opinion, interesting, character.

It is a hard decision. They almost have to differentiate from the comics here in one way or another. The one thing I would insist upon is that eventually he winds up with MJ in the end. She's his one true partner.

I hope they put the love story on the backburner this time. I enjoy a good romantic subplot, but both previous continuities focused on the love angle.I want to see other aspects of the universe emphasized.

mary jane. just like i don't want the origin story i don't want the night gwen stacy died so make it so that both those things already happened. since romance will be kept minimally, let's just skip to the main love interest, peter's yin to his yang, mj.

Peter and Mary Jane's relationship could be treated like Tony and Pepper's. Prominent, but not the central theme.

When Spider-man was created, Parker was intended to have relatable problems, one of those being trouble with girls and getting dates. He was never meant to find love right away. To begin with, the stories had very little romance, unlike the ASM movies. A serious relationship is not integral to the character, especially not in his early days.

Spider-Man's love interest should be Aunt May, and I don't mean that in a weird way. Screw the girl next door crap, screw the "love at first sight" with someone that catches his eye. Let's make Peter's first priority Aunt May in this series. The woman does everything for Peter, she practically lives for him. I want to see Peter doing everything in his power to make her life easier, even if it means a ton of sacrifices for himself. Showing up to school late and tired because he was up all night fighting crime and making sure he had pictures to give to the Bugle for money to help Aunt May financially. Missing high school dances or high school parties because she's sick and he wants to take care of her. I want Peter's priorities to revolve around her, keeping her safe and healthy for everything she'd done for him. We've had two series revolving around 2 beautiful women, let's have this one focus on his loving Aunt who's given him everything. She deserves it.

I say Marvel should break the social norms and have it be Carol Danvers!!! :p :o

Carol hasn't even had her own solo film yet so I definitely don't want her first outings to be as "Spider-Man's girlfriend."

It would be good if they establish Peter and MJ's friendship in the first movie and leave them being together for the sequels. One of my favourite things about Ultimate Spider-man was how MJ and Peter were not only dating but were best friends. But I definitely think MJ needs to be included somehow after the weak Raimi version.

^ That would be a good idea. Maybe take the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon route & have them know each other & grow as friends while Peter is able to experience the world of relationships with girls like Betty Brant & Liz Allen.
