Homecoming Who Should Be The Love Interest?

You do realize the fact that SSM took A LOT of inspiration from USM, right?

I'm talking specifically the cartoon Ultimate.

And SSM didn't take the crap stuff from Ultimate, like Hulk-Goblin.

My mistake, I thought you were talking about the USM comic (which I grew up reading)

I can see them using some elements, like the Nick Fury stuff. But, no offense to your childhood, I hope they stick more to 616.

That's fine, 616 IS the definitive version of Spider-Man.
But hope they take at least a few elements from USM.

As long as I get Bryan Cranston as Norman who wears a mask when he's the Green Goblin! :woot:

I kinda would like to see Spidey in an Archie like situation between MJ and Gwen.

Anything between this Peter and Gwen, will be nothing compared to what it was like with Andrew and Emma. Everyone will be expecting something just as electric and judging the new actors for it.

Lol no. Any decent filmmaker can redo the Peter/Gwen romance and far surpass it.

As much as it held together the TASM movies, I think the success of Peter and Gwen's relationship should be attributed to the charisma of Garfield and Stone.

If people were head over heels for the two with what we ended up getting, I can only imagine how much better they could have been if their roles were supplemented with better writing.

Part of high school "soap opera" for guys is girls. No, I don't want Pete to long for MJ like in the Raimi movies, but make him like Spectacular (there's that phrase again! :cwink:) and he doesn't know what he wants. And with being Spider-Man, it always interferes with his social life anyway. He can't even make up his mind between Liz or Betty, or maybe even Gwen. Not to mention the girl Aunt May wants to set him up with, with the great personality (shudder).

This. I've no problem with Peter having romantic situations or feelings or whatever throughout the movie--like we both agree, introduce several different female characters and develop them along with Peter. But keep the 'will they, won't they' love story out of the main plot for at least one movie. We've had too much of that and it's a bit stale. Peter's world is capable of more interesting ideas.

Well, romance has always been part of the character of Peter Parker!
MJ, Gwen, Liz, Betty, Felicia, Carlie, Kitty ...

But part of me wants to see MJ and Gwen again (Like in TSSM) :p!

OK, I think I need to have the following phrase in all my posts regarding the new Sony/MCU Spider-Man:

...like The Spectacular Spider-Man!

:woot:

People would probably have a very cynical reaction to that title. When you think like a non Spider-man fanatic, that sounds kinda cheap after The Amazing Spider-man. I'm expecting the Marvel Studios marketing to do a lot better than that. No offense

I ain't talking about the title (although I liked it, but would prefer if the MCU could use Amazing Spider-Man).

I mean the phrase. For example:

They should introduce characters like Norman Osborn and Dr. Octavious before they become their super villain selves, "like The Spectacular Spider-Man!"

Spectacular SM is a perfectly fine title. But the success of the film wont hinge on this or that title. If the marketing and the film itself are good - and with Marvels stamp on it - it will make a billion plus with ease. Even if its called Spidey & Co: Dawn of a New Beginning.

On-topic: I say go with MJ. Its been a while. And besides, Ms. Stone was probably the best thing about those movies. Too soon to replace her.

You guys get that I wasn't talking about the title, right?

Dragon you think Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon is crap?

Yeah. I hated it.

1. All things evil coming from Oscorp, even though the various villains required branches of science Oscorp couldn't have been focusing on. Like the comcs, the villains should have come from all over. And the Oscorp villain factory was just to be a "distraction" for Spider-Man? Ridiculous.

2. Peter was a jerk. If that was the Peter I'd encountered in the comics, I'd never have become a Spidey fan.

3. Mis-writing of pretty much every character. Gwen a nerd? Nope. If anything, MJ would've been the nerd, since the comics make it clear that her persona was invented as an escape from a tortured family life.

Spider-Man x White Tiger!

As long as it's someone who has powers and can take care of herself. No more damsels in distress

I was hoping that they would have gone for that relationship within the USM cartoon. They'd be a good fit. Especially since they completely neutered MJ--assuming it is MJ, I know they call the character MJ but it clearly isn't.

Yeah I don't really like the show but I like Spider-Man and Tiger.

I just really want a young MCU hero love interest or Black Cat. What better way to intro female heroes then with Marvel's number 1 hero.
