Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 3

Other than the fact that he hasn't been done before, his battle with Spidey could give us a battle we haven't truly seen in the past either (with maybe the exception of Spidey saving Aunt May from Ock in the OT). It would be interesting to see Spidey going at it in the air with Vulture, trying to get possession of his loot, managing the usage of his web cartridges, and perhaps crashing through a rooftop like they did in TASM #2 and being blamed by JJJ. They can also lock Vulture up and give him the opportunity for team ups with villains in the future, especially if the idea of a S6 movie isn't completely dead.

I also know going the Ultimate route has been brought up by both Holland and Watts, but I would love for them to give a vintage vibe and start out with one of his earliest foes. Such a tone can work if they want to give it the "indie" vibe that has been discussed in interviews.

Whoever the villains are in these upcoming Spidey flicks, I truly want to see the progression of Holland as not only Peter, but Spider-Man. Cap's progression is a perfect example and I want that to emulated with Spidey. In both harnessing his skills and his character, I hope we genuinely experience a coming of age in these movies. The rest of the Avengers being a lot older than him gives them the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Great, great points. First and foremost, for sure because he hasn't been done before, and Feige said they wanna focus on just that. At first I thought combat with The Vulture might be too reminiscent of Spidey vs. Goblin in SM1, but it all depends on execution (especially with points you mention--cartridges, etc). Really hope the action is good in this new series.

I expect somewhat of a unique indie vibe to the series especially with the colors and the cinematography. That'd be cool.

Great comparison with Cap. I think they've done a phenomenal job with his character arc, and I'd love just that for Peter/Spider-Man.

Given the look of Spidey, we're bound to see more villains look a lot more classic.

I've pointed this out before but, while Marvel has no problem with classic hero costumes, they're still reluctant when it comes to villain costumes (unless they're alien). I hope Spider-Man will change this, but I'm not confident.

My top 6 choices for the villain are...

1. Vulture
2. Chameleon
3. Sandman
4. Scorpion
5. Kraven
6. Shocker

Perfect. Not 100% with Black Cat (as a villain) but definitely Scorpion or Vulture.

I want her to have her own mission. Her and Spidey just get in each others way while investigating their own things. I love having young Spidey taking on an older Vulture. Cool dynamic.

Vulture and Scorpion are my main two though.

Mysterio.

I'm not sure I agree. Winter Soldier, Loki, Red Skull, Iron Monger, Thanos, there's been several that look like their classic comic counter parts.

Don't forget Crossbones. Ronan and Destroyer.

Crossbones and Destroyer hardly carry a whole movie. And Thanos hasn't fought anyone yet but just sits around.

We need more street level villains and fewer cosmic ones so that everyone can fight them more easily.

I would like Mysterio and Shocker, but I'm not sure if Marvel will go with them for the first movie as that means all the characters are masked and not emoting with their faces. They might prefer someone with an unmasked face like Vulture or Kraven, or Doc Ock again.

Just realized--Falcon is already red and black lol. Go green!

That's another thing I thought of too lol. Could only be a couple weeks until we find out which villain they're going with.

The Vulture would be perfect. It's a long time coming now. He's paid his dues lol. 2 different series now where he should've landed on screen (no pun intended), and now's the time to do it! He's a good A-villain without being too mighty for a first in a series.

Agreed. Heck, he was going to be the villain in Spider-Man 4. I wonder if Malkovich would still be interested in playing him?

Give me some Morbius.

And if it's Vulture, Charles Dance would be my #1 casting choice.

I can't believe Malkovich is 62. Not sure if he would be my first choice as Vulture.

Guess we'll have to see in the coming months once a villain (or villains) is (are) announced.

I'm hoping to see the Cat and the Spider together on the big screen, so any scenario involving 'em is pretty much good for me.

Vulchie!!!

Classic green or red and black?

Green, but have a bit of dark grey/black in there too.

BOOM. :yay:

If we had Vulture, that could potentially allow a Spidey team up with Falcon, who isn't such an A-lister that he'd dominate too much (like Cap or Iron Man). It doesn't even have to be a full team up for the whole movie, but more like an action scene (similar to Ant-Man vs Falcon).

I think we should expect to see another MCU character in Spider-Man, otherwise if it's just Spidey completely solo, it's no different to the previous Spider-Man films that have gone before.
