A lot of people (like me) have hunches about stuff like that. And often they are right.

So do you have good fealing about some of this year's blockbusters, ot maybe bad?

Harry Potter. It's the last one, and people are gonna see this 10 times if they can.

Best I think HP7PT2. Commercially and critically

Yeah, especially now that its in 3D, I just realized HP7.2 is going to be the next movie to get past the 1 billion mark. :awesome:

also, Transformers 3......nufff said.

It's really hard for me to gauge Green Lantern and how it's going to do. I have a feeling it might surprise people, despite some of the cruel beating it got from it's trailer. :0

That said, Harry Potter will be the king.

It's either going to be Pirates of HP7. My guess is that HP7 wins it. It will easily pass a billion worldwide and I think will bank 350 or more domestic. Transformers blew their wad with Revenge of the Fallen so I don't think #3 will match #2's box office. Kung Fu Panda and Twilight will round out closely behind Pirates and HP along with Transformers to round out the top 5.

I mean, this is the grand finale and we've watched these kids grow up for the past decade. It'll be an event for sure!

You can take "Capitan" America and Twilight off the list. Dark of the Moon can probably go too.

Cars 2 is noticeably missing, as is Cowboys and Aliens.

Come to think of it, the whole thread is pretty pointless. :woot:

Cowboys and Aliens won't make the top 5. Cars 2 needs to be on that list indeed.

Harry Potter because that is the only one on the list I have any interest in watching.

The problem is that we can't predict things like this because you have surprise bombs, surprise hits, sleeper hits, and out of nowhere blockbusters.

Well it's only logical that HP7.2 will be the king of 2011 but who will be the runner up?

Here's my predictions of both boxoffice and personal rating for the films

Transformers: Dark of the Moon - 800m +/- (probable personal rating 7.5/10)
The First Avenger: Capitan America 400/600m (probable personal rating 7-8/10)
THOR 300/500m (probable personal rating 6-7.5/10)
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides 600/800m (probable personal rating 8-9/10)
The Green Lantern 500/800 (probable personal rating 6-8/10)
Rango 300m +/-
The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn 500/800m (probable personal rating 7-9/10)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 900m/1.2b (probable personal rating 9.5-10/10)
Kung Fu Panda 2 400/600m (probable personal rating 6-7.5/10)
X-Men: First Class ? (probable personal rating ?)
The Twilight Saga: Breaking down: Part 1 600/900m (probable personal rating 6.5-8/10)
Sherlock Holmes 2 300/500m (probable personal rating 8-9/10)

First Class will pull in around what Wolverine made...a little more if the film is good.

I think this will be a big test to see if an X-Men movie can handle the fame without Hugh Jackman.

It will probably be HP7pt2, which means Marvel should seriously contemplating moving Capt. America to a different date because debuting in the 2nd week of HP7pt2's premiere could be suicidal.

BUt at least Cap also has all of AUgust where it has little to know competition. So many other films are sandwiched between a number of other high profile films. Cap at least has room to grow

I think Tintin will win everyone over with a trailer and be a huge success.

Besides HP7part2 I could see TF3, Twilight(you can't deny the fanbase), Pirates 4, Cars 2 and possibly Tintin, well at least in the internationals markets.

TinTin could be a bigger hit if it had exclusive rights to The Hobbit teaser.

Heck since Tintin is a partnership between Spielberg and Jackson himself, it probably will happen.

I tought we were talking about quality, not box-office. I still think Harry Potter.

Both in quality and financially Harry Potter should be the winner

My vote goes to the next Harry Potter film. It's an obvious choice.

It's either going to be Pirates of HP7. My guess is that HP7 wins it. It will easily pass a billion worldwide and I think will bank 350 or more domestic. Transformers blew their wad with Revenge of the Fallen so I don't think #3 will match #2's box office. As far as the internet community goes, it seems like most hated it(I'm in that group)because of the stupidity thrown in the film. I'm not so sure we can say the same about the general audience though.

I saw the trailer for it last night before Tron and I heard some positive chatter around me. Granted, my single theatre experience isn't enough to say whether or not the overall GA liked it, but I was surprised at the responses to the trailer.

I'll probably put it between Transformer: Dark Side of the Moon and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Part II. I think it'll be close, but HP will win it out due to it being the end of a very long, and very popular series, and the great reception of the first installment. TF3 will be pretty big, I think, though.

The others I just don't see reaching their numbers, unless there's a big, mega breakout hit in there.
