Who would be the villain in a Luke Cage movie? His rogues gallery seems rather thin.

You can do a PG-13 movie with Punisher in it if he fights Luke Cage and keeps shooting Luke Cage and Punisher's bullets can't penetrate Luke Cage's skin.

And Luke Cage is like "damn."

They could just take their pick out of the various street level villians New York has in the Marvel Universe.

I can't see Luke Cage's movie as being interesting enough on its own. He's far more interesting with Iron Fist, and Marvel could have their first buddy movie. However, since Marvel owns both characters and crossover movies are now not unprecedented, at least having solo movies wouldn't rule out the idea of the two of them coming together for a sequel. Of course, if each respective movie does so badly, then neither actor might want to come back (or Marvel might not hire them again) which means that if they get two new actors for a PM/IF team up, then it would effectively be a reboot if it doesn't continue from the previous film... so they might as well team up in the first place.

just have the movie focus on both characters until they meet

at first you are like "are they even in the same movie"
then they finally meet and have to work together.

like have connections to both in each other's scene

danny's company mentioned
news of luke cage getting arrested

stuff like that

as for villians...purple man?

White Tiger.

There's also some black Luke Cage villain but I forget his name. He has a costume that shows a bare chest, and I think he might have a chain/medallion around his neck. I think he's quite well known as one of Luke's enemies. I wish I could remember though.

They should take a page out of Captain America's movie and set this in the 1970s. It would be the ideal decade where they could get away with gaudy fashions, and it would be at the height of martial arts and blaxploitation. If Marvel really want them to be in the present day to cross over with other heroes, then they can get brought forward in time somehow in a sequel. Just let's have one great classic period movie like they're doing for Cap.

I thought White Tiger was a hero. Are you saying they should use an Iron Fist villain in a combo movie instead of a Luke Cage one?

His 'original' villain was Diamondback; in the movie I could see him as the guy who framed cage; after Cage busts out, D-back has become a major Harlem crime boss, with various tech item/weapons at his disposal..

others who showed up over the years- Discus, Stiletto, Mace, Bushmaster, Chemistro, Cockroach Hamilton..

Some of those guys, like Mace and Cockroach Hamilton seem pretty lame though, it would be to make them into serious villains in a movie. I mean Gideon Mace is just a guy with a mace for a hand, how is that a threat to someone as powerful as Luke Cage? Plus Mace would look really goofy on screen.

I can't remember now if White Tiger is a hero or not. I thought he was a villain, but maybe not.

I'm saying they should use both an Iron Fist and a Luke Cage villain in a combo movie. Maybe the heroes could start out separately and find out that their respective villains have ties to each other - maybe one is working for the other. At first Cage and Rand will want to pursue the case separately and not wish the other to be involved until they realize they're pursuing the same criminals and they decide to team up.

Unlike the Avengers where it was cool to see each individual hero in their own movie first and then team up, I'm not too fussed about seeing PM/IF in their own movies first. They're far more interesting as a dynamic duo and Marvel (or any other studio) hasn't done a superhero buddy movie yet. I prefer them to cut to the chase and see right away the dynamic between them and how they initially don't get along but learn to work with and trust each other.

I'm really hoping for the wrecking crew. It would be so awesome to see a 1 hero vs multifoes movie. I know the wrecking crew is a bit stronger than LC in the comics but in the Marvel movie adaption Universe Cage can be as strong as the writers want (Wolverine-6'2").

isnt Wrecking Crew a Thor villain group

Gideon Mace?
Who's that guy who had the steel hard skin, framed Luke to get imprisoned, and died after he got the steel hard skin?
Misty Knight went on a mission for D.A Blake Towers spying on that villain

I don't see how a guy with a mace for a hand wouldn't look goofy on screen and would be able to carry a whole movie.

That and as a group they do not seem ambitious enough to carry the plot of a major motion picture.
The Iron Man armor was cardboard and CGI

LC has had a run in with at least one of them before (maybe Piledriver). Besides its like Overlord said. Lukes Cage's enemies are far and few.

There are really no LC foes that stand out in the MU or that can stand on their own enough to catch peoples attention.

I believe even though the Wrecking Crew aren't world conquers they are ambitious enough to try and take over a town or small city. LC has been more of a local hero anyway. He really wouldn't need any major end of the world plot (Spidey didn't have one). At best the Wrecking Crew could be hired by a crime boss to try and take him out.

It's either them or Big Ben Donova.

have luke and iron fist in a team up buddy superhero movie...
have the villain be purple man.

Agreed. Diamondback for the first one.
