But I still pick Gwendy.

Even after the whole f**king Osborne thing?

Sorry, but you can't go back.

If anyone doesn't like Mary Jane, I would recommend the latest Sensational Spider-Man Annual. It'll make you a fan.
I thought it was awesome, and it would definitely makes fans out of non-true believers, however, was I the only one who thought gwen came across as a complete social and superficial b***h?
What did everyone think of Bryce's performance as Gwen?

The character could've had more screen time, but I think she pulled off Gwen's personality very well. That and she looked like she walked out of a comic book page; she was stunning.
Seeing Bryce made me want her (the natural Red Head) as MJ over (the natural Blonde) Dunst who should have taken a dive of the bridge in SM and never floated back up.

As for which of them I prefer...One can never know whether or not Pete and Gwen would have had the staying power of Pete and MJ. The fact that MJ has stayed with him (sans the brief separation) through everything that hes been through? She gets my vote

No, not at all. MJ and Gwen were, real sorry for this but they were like the Paris Hilton of their time. They liked to go dancing, be at parties etc. So going to the Coffee Bean or whatever would probably be very boring to them.

Even though she was well before my time, I prefer Gwen, but then again I think that may be because she's dead and with the exception of JMS having her retroactively screw the Green Goblin, most writers don't mess with her, or change her personality, so we keep her as idealized. I think the fact that she is dead means we idealize her, a bit like JFK. If she had survived, who knows what the writers might have done with her. Good writers could have really developed her as a character, or bad writers could have made her sleep with the Green Goblin.

You couldn't be more off. There's a HUGE difference from the socialites of today and the socialites of yesteryear. The rich kids in the 60's and 70's could at least hold a conversation. They were aware of what was going on around them, even if it didn't effect them. Paris Hilton is an oblivious drunk.

And Mary Jane was the party girl, not so much Gwen.

Thats why I said "of their time" PJ, lets get those reading comprehension skills working mmmk.

Still way off. It's comparing apples to oranges. Mary Jane is like the Ivanka Trump of her time. Flirty and fun but still strong willed and intelligent.

And you're not allowed to speak of reading comprehension skills until you've mastered it yourself.

Both MJ and Gwen seemed kind of shallow and vacant in the first flashback. Of course, Peter and Harry didn't seem too much better. It felt like Fraction went a little overboard writing them to each of their respective stereotypes--except Gwen, who was a bit more self-centered and obnoxious than the sweet girl-next-door stereotype I thought she was supposed to embody.

Except Ivanka Trump is fat and ugly.

Regardless, the comparison still stands. They would be bored to tears by some coffee shop.

Yeah, that doesn't exist anymore. Where were you when Gwen gave Norman Osborn pity sex?

Its our where were you when JFK got shot.:csad:

Uh...I suppose the hotness of Ivanka is subjective, but most people would disagree with you...a lot.

And being bored at a coffee shop has nothing to do with anything. You said MJ was the Hilton of today. I corrected you, and now you're defending your poorly thought out comparison.

In the sense that they're both party girls. I never said she was a dumb **** like Paris Hilton. The comparison is still valid. We can do this all day.

I thought everybody at Marvel collectively decided to forget about that. No writer has ever referenced it since. Plus, it's not like Gwen was a filthy, streetwalking harlot here like she was in "Sins Past." She was just a little vapid. Maybe her blondness caught up to her that day.

So, by that logic, a filet mignon in the 60's the same as a McDonald's hamburger of today. They're both beef, so there must not be a better analogy.

Get some new logic.

Wow, that's ******ed. :whatever:

It's basically what you originally said, with some words interchanged. To you, there's no difference between a smart, intelligent girl who likes parties and a sloppy, dumb drunkard. But hey, they both like parties, right? :o

They're both socialites, and they represent their times. When Mary Jane popped on the scene drunk ****s were not the norm, it is today. But they both pretty much represent the same thing, I mean look at Edie Sedgwick, thats pretty much what Mary Jane was, except for the drugs and Andy Warhol and Bob Dylan.

Edie Sedgwick is a MUCH better comparison, aside from the fact that MJ was never anyone's muse.

See what you can do when you put your mind to it?
