Oh yeah, but I still think Page has the edge.

One thing I will say is that Brian Jones played slide guitar like no one else. he was amazing.

Yeah, I thought a little less of Moon when I read that.

I also read that John Bonham
**** in Jimmy Page's girlfriend's purse because she annoyed him. Drummers are quire insane, I guess.

Yeah, but that's kind of funny. Is it a double standard? Maybe.

I'm trying to teach myself Slide guitar. It's damn hard.

Could be. But the one I read about Lennon is by far the funniest.

Yeah, it sounds like a *****. Bottle - neck guitar sounds even worse, though.

You're gonna need some high action for that, if you don't have it already.

I'll be the one guy to vote for poor ol' Tom Hamilton. After all, the bass lines to Sweet Emotion and Walk This Way are some of the most instantly recognizable bass licks ever.

Hamilton is really great. The opening of "Sweet Emotions" is awesome.

The bass of Aerosmith is really lost behind two lead guitarists, but he is a great bassist.

Aerosmith IMO are quite possibly the finest American hard rock band ever. Considering a vast majority of the most recognizable are British, they're not left with much competition.

I'll one up you and say that they were the greatest American band of all time. (Well, besides the old Jazz bands that I love). They had everything that the good British bands had, except nationality. But yeah, Creedence Clearwater Revival is a very close second and The Doors are also very close.

Yeah, those are probably the best three. I'd throw Heart and Guns N' Roses in there as well.

I find America has the better solo artists, England has the better bands. With solo artists, we have Billy Joel, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, Bob Segar, and of course, Frank Sinatra.

I'd go even farther and say that they still are. Honkin' on Bobo from two years ago put them back on the map, and Joe Perry's solo album from last year rocked harder than anything in years.

They're a tour-de-force live, the last vestige of classic stadium rock that's still burning bright, still kicking ass, and still putting on a show one hundred times better than men one third their age.

Perhaps some rock it harder, and maybe others rock it longer, but nobody rocks it better than Aerosmith. And anybody who once did is long since gone or degraded to a shadow of their former selves.

I'd agree. Most American bands suck these days. And seeing as it's a trend, I'll go one even further and say they are the greatest rock band around today.

Not a single doubt in my mind. I've seen 'em three times in concert, and each time, they blew me away. Every single time.

Stevie Ray Vaughn sends his regards.

i'd have to go with either paul mccartney or dee dee ramone...because not only were they solid bass players, they were also genius lyricists and songwriters.

p.s. a friend of mine had dinner with john paul jones....says he's really short.

My top five bassists...

Flea (hence I voted for him)
Mike Mills of R.E.M. (shamelessly left out of the poll!!)
Adam Clayton of U2
Nigel Harrison (classic Blondie)
Tony Kanal (No Doubt)

wtf?

Cliff Burton needs to be added to the poll, this is the third time he has been mentioned now.

He definitely gets my vote too.

That's true, but can I point out here that most of the youngsters here forget about how great he was because they didn't know the orginal Metallica line up.

Yea, the unfortunate thing about Metallica is that there are 2 different versions at completely opposite ends of the spectrum:

Great (Then)<----------------------------------------->**** (Now)

But my god if he wouldn't have been killed.....everyone would know his name.

Steve Tyler still wishes he was Jagger though, hey so does the guy from the Black Crows. Jagger pownz P10101010101 lol.

1) No Jaco, or Victor Wooten = flawed poll
2) Peter Cetera, lol, cracked me up.
3) Doesn't matter, I'd've voted for JPJ no matter what as I am a Led Zeppelin Zombie.
