Some people have too much hate inside... that's all there is to it
I think I've finally figured it out. Only Americans understand what it means to have Patriotism. Everyone that isn't from here doesn't understand the swell of prode (yes, PRIDE!) it gives Americans to see one of our icons linked with the American flag.
It might surprise you to know that people other countries do have patriotism, thank you. And as you know by now, not all Americans particularly care for the shot in question, either.
). The fact that you act as if the world hates you really doesn't help things, because when you accuse everyone of hating you, you're generalizing and giving the impression that you're rather paranoid. It's okay if you don't know how to multi-quote; it is quite hard.
Also, this is a cookie...

They are not the same thing.

Ok because I'm Cuban and was about to go off on you.....

Démon;11649246 said:Just because someone finds the shot cheesy or annoying, it doesn't mean "omgz!!! American-hater!1" Most people here who have complaints about it are pointing out the valid point that the placement of this shot isn't exactly the best - many here seem to agree that it would've actually fit better if it had been during that whole Spider-Man celebration earlier in the movie. In a few cases, yes, it does seem to be the fact that it's the American flag in particular that bugs people, but I think those who dislike the placement are the majority.
Démon;11649246 said:Personally, I agree with those who said it'd probably fit better earlier in the movie. If they had to keep it where it was, I think it'd look better if the flag wasn't so space-consuming. As others have said, the American flag shots in the previous movies were excellently done and I never saw complaints about them either. This one is just too out-of-place and blatant to the point where many find it cheesy.
Démon;11649246 said:And by the way, to those complaining and moaning about how "the rest of the world hates America", that's not entirely true. I've lived here in Canada for almost fourteen years, and I've never experienced discrimination on the basis of me being an American (The closest to it was a friend accusing me of being in denial when I didn't automatically agree with his "America has economic hitmen" conspiracy theorizing.). The fact that you act as if the world hates you really doesn't help things, because when you accuse everyone of hating you, you're generalizing and giving the impression that you're rather paranoid.
So, in short, people need to stop treating this as an attack on America and it's values, and more as a criticism of an admittedly awkward portion of the movie.
And if you read my subsequent post you would see that I was purposely making a foolish remark to counter the foolish remarks about the flag not having a place in the film because it annoys the rest of the world (those were fg's words not mine, so if anyone is pitting the whole rest of the world against America,look in his direction.
But they're not upset about the fact that there is an American flag in the shot that makes people who aren't American feel left-out and annoys the rest of the world ONLY BECAUSE IT'S AN AMERICAN FLAG!
Could you rephrase it?I never said that. You need to reread my posts. I am ONLY contending with poeple like fg and buttman who are upset about the flag being in the film in the first place. At least buttman, pitiful as he sounds, had the balls to say what he meant. fg made inflammatory statements then tried to say that that isn't what he said, but his posts are there for everyone to read. The only ones giving him a pass on THOSE statements or choose to ignore them are ALSO people from another country.
I never said that the whole world hates America. I have friends in Toronto, London, Yorkshire, Leeds, and elsewhere. I never accused 'everyone' of hating me or America. I DID say America is the most hated nation on Earth. Tell me another nation that is the target of hate on as large a scale. There is more anti-American sentiment than there is anti-any-other-country, period. And this is the time when Americans need to stand up for this country and fight harder than ever to bring it together. And NOT put up with snide little remarks by bitter, nonsense-picture-posting prigs like fried gold! You and anyone else on the boards can defend him for his remarks if you want to but my problem is mainly with him because he DID make statements that were inappropriate to me about America.

CLASSIC POST!!! haha. Amen to that, broham.OMG, this is unbelievable.
Left out? Did you feel 'left out' because he was in NY instead of London?
Our hero, not yours? I didn't make him American, he was already that way when I was born, and you're right, I had nothing to do with it. And neither did you. He's American beyond both of our ability to control. If the big, bad Raimi hadn't put in that nasty ol' shot of the American flag, would you have been better able to hold onto your illusion that Spider-man is (fill in your nationality here)?
Selfish instead of sharing? How are "we" not sharing? He's not "mine" to share or not share. And did you have to come to the States to see this movie? I thought "we" "shared" the movie with the rest of the world, hense the movie breaking all previous WORLD-WIDE RELEASE RECORDS! In fact, if I'm not mistaken, every other country got to see this movie before America. Amazing! And I thought we had some crybabies over HERE!
If I were you, I'd go crawl back into grandmum's basement from embarrassment. I know I've gotten a bit bent out of shape on here (I tend to do that when people want to berate America because of the actions of some) but I've tried to stay as civil as possible. But I have to say, your's may truly be the stupidest, most pathetic post I have ever read. You should be slapped and sterilized.
Because I proudly display both the American and Cuban flags at my house and you did that fake post on how other countries flags shouldn't be on display in this country.why would you go off on me because your cuban?
I think it is great you fly both flags. It shows your love for what I guess to be your country of origin and the one you choose to live in. I think it's wrong and stupid for people to live here and hate America by burning the flag or only flying another country's flag. I know and have seen people say how much they love a country, for instance Mexico, live here and only display the Mexican flag and talk about how much better it is over there...then wtf are you doing here? But I still don't think the flag in SM3 needs to be discussed...it's been in all three movies...get over it.Because I proudly display both the American and Cuban flags at my house and you did that fake post on how other countries flags shouldn't be on display in this country.

wow...it looks like this thread will be closed soon. its gonna turn into one big race war and people will get banned.
Démon;11650548 said:Okay, I'm a bit confused by this comment.Could you rephrase it?
Démon;11650548 said:Well, I wasn't actually addressing you in particular. I couldn't remember which users it was - my post was meant to be more generalized at this point onward. I noticed that a couple of posters had been making comments that indicated to me that they were already jumping to the conclusion that the criticisms of the shot reflected a general anti-American bias, which isn't the case.
Démon;11650548 said:Again, I wasn't being specific to you when I wrote that part, so sorry if you interpreted it that way. A few other posters had been making comments that I was trying to address. Anyway, I don't really know if America is the most hated nation on Earth, so much as the Bush administration being one of the most hated governments on Earth (I believe that much of the sentiment is towards Bush and the government's way of dealing internationally.). Even if were truly anti-American sentiment - as in, the hate is for American people in general, not just the government (It's usually the government in my experiences.) - it is not alone in the world for being a nation targeted by hatred. Israel is in the same boat.![]()
Démon;11650548 said:I'm not defending this Fried Gold guy at all. I'm just addressing general comments I've seen while going through the thread, and trying to point out that the majority of unfavorable opinion about the flag scene doesn't seem to be motivated by anti-American attitude. Just in case someone takes it all to heart and begins spewing anti-everywhere else comments. We already had one foolish comment by a Canadian poster result in a retaliatory insult towards Canadians a few pages back, and I'd rather people cooled down before it escalates into that again.
If there are a few who don't like Americans, that's their problem, and you'd have to question why they're even on a board that's probably predominantly American. Most people who develop such a dislike of Americans are probably affected by two things - disliking the American government, and the confrontational and arrogant nature of the few overly vocal American fanatics who believe they're superior to everyone else. Unfortunately, those few people end up representing Americans in general in some people's mind, and that's probably where most of the attitude comes from.
BELM!
you'll 'let youself down for me'? Well...thanks for saving me the trouble, I guess.Here, I'll let me down for you....
America / England
Cookie = Biscuit
Cookie = Cookie
I'm sorry if it confuses you that we have both.
If you would like any other multi-culteral differences explaining, I'm more than happy to do so.
You're reading far too much into that remark. I was being facetious and you know it, unless you actually believe that I think a single shot of the American flag in a Spider-Man is enough to annoy the THE REST OF THE WORLD!!!!! lOllozz!111
