Your missing the point.

Its not about sandman being a "bigger" villain than venom. If you paid any attention at all, you'd be aware that venom is being pushed as a marketing device over sandman...BIG TIME.
Venom in this movie is gradually being developed 'till we get him but until then we're getting an already existing plot device in Harry seeking revenge and sandman for the obvious reason that he's a born criminal who gets ahold of some powers and starts his massacre mission right away.

God, some spidey "fans" try, empahsis on try to think too damn hard that they completely forgo any sort of chronological thought.:o

I agree, except I think that Sandman will still be the bigger villian come the credits. You need a main villian throughout the film... Harry has a huge internal struggle that will lead him to become GG2 during the film, and Venom needs to establish a rivalry between Parker and Brock first... while this character development is being put into place, you need something else to drive the plot, and that's why we have Sandman, who will be the main villian with his own personal motivations that will be established early on. Otherwise (especially for the Superman Returns haters) you have Spider-man for half the film but not a villian for him... and while I love character development and stories that focus on exposition, a vast majority of people would just say that its boring.

he isn't becoming GG2 i thought Raimi stated that.

besides that i like your set-up.

Think theses way too many plots, thats it.
I agree with what (i think) youre saying. I am worried about there being so many villians and so many plot devices that Spiderman will get lost.
But I havent read the script so I cant really judge :p
I can, however, worry.

btw to a previous poster. The selling point may not be Parker and Harry's friendship gone bad but those little things are what makes these movies so good.

To be honest There is a reason I don't rush to the theatre opening night to see the spiderman movies that's because I can't stand that all the movies are Petter and Harry are mad at each other again. I liked the first Movie don't get me wrong the second movie didn't do it for me at all because there was no selling point for me I was tired of the Peter and Harry crap I was tired at the Goblins involvment at all sure maybe all they did with the Goblin was show the suit but that was more then I wanted and the meant he would return change the name all you want it is still the goblin and add that to the fact that I absolutley hate Doc OCk and the movie was one that I will never watch again this movie has it's down points to but there are a few things that save it for me so ill be watching it not on opening night but it will be that week.

holy long-posts Batman!
sheesh, i'm too lazy to read all that

But thats what I'm saying. Sandman is the main villain for this movie while Brock/venom is being developed throughout the movie until we see him in all his glory.

Venom will be the ultimate threat in the end
