Why Are So Many People Fearing The Trilogy Curse??

^A lot of the casual people I have heard while in the theatre as well as some of my lamer friends ask me why his suit is black and what is a symbiote. But then they see the action and shut up.

not sure if this is related, but i didnt want to start another thread.

I was talking to this one person today, about sp3. We walked past this promo standee that had the symbiote suit on it, and the person was like "oh, thats neat. Spiderman got an upgrade, like batman. He must of made himself a new, sleeker suit." I was thinking "omfg what a tard". I then explained the entire symbiote thing, and then they looked at me like i was the tard. They said "how dumb, thats just the stupidest thing ive ever heard" or something like that. Anyone else encounter this?

People i know who have seen the first 2 films, and like them, but arent spidey fans dont believe me when i say the black suit is a result of an alien.

I dont really blame them, i mean its a pretty big jump from fusion based energy, to meteors carrying scheemish symbiotes which aim to unleash the darkness within, which ironically gets stuck on spideys shoe.

But i love it:D.

I think that they should have kept Venom a secret until the release of the second trailer.I know it sounds silly I mean how can they possibly keep Venom a secret but the fans reactions would've been classic.

There's no way. The movie revolves around the symbiote. Even a monkey can put 2 and 2 together and realize that Venom was going to get face-time.

JP II wasn't great, but I personally enjoyed it... it wasn't until later that I drew parallels between it and King Kong which actually gives me alot more respect for what the film was going for.

Really? I didn't know that. I think I disliked it just because it was so different from the first movie, and because I really enjoyed the second JP book, and it was pretty different from that too (though it did follow it to an extent).

People really freak me out with how rude they can be regarding something that came out of a comic book. I've got one friend who thinks Spidey is too over the top, but thinks the Matrix isn't. Oh well, at least true fans know what is going here. I know Sony and Raimi have differed in some ways from the original source material, but I respect the decision to keep the symbiote from space, with or without the whole secret wars part of the story,

An alien symbiote is a hard concept to swallow when they've used scientific experiments to introduce the other elements

Why do you people even care if others think it's silly or don't believe that there's a symbiot involved? Like some of you said, they shut up once they see the action, either way, they'll most likely see it once it comes out and it's not as if their views on the subject are going to stop you from seeing the movie.

Who's saying they actually care whether they believe it?

Speaking of the action sequences, I have been very impressed with the recent footage and reports that say the movie is packed. I think a lack of action in when compared to the first film really hurt Spider-Man 2 in some areas. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was a superior film over 1 with the drama, but somethings are just missing. Spider-Man 3 will be a great movie, for both action and drama/romance.

I think this movie will be by far the best comic to film movie ever made in terms of action and story.

The Spider-Man series has the greatest shot of being the best comic-inspired film series of all time. I too agree that Spidey 3 will go down in history.

The only worries I have is how they are going to bring in and introduce the symbiote so that the casual audience understands it as well as the plot surrounding it. A meteor can't just crash to earth and then voila!

No it's not, neither is a man made of living sand. Did you all forget that it is a comic book film, people come to expect these types of things? That's why no one questioned the Silver Surfer appearence in FF2's trailer. There's nothing wrong with taking a break from scientific experiments (even though Connors will be scientifically experimenting on it), something new like the symbiote is gonna add excitement if handle well, which it looks like it is.

You mean like a spider biting a person and giving him spider powers like...VOILA?

Daniel Gillies is returning for Spider-Man 3 (aka John Jameson). There's been speculation that he brings the symbiote to Earth... which makes sense. Seeing as though he's an astronaut and all. Plus, that's the same thing they did in the cartoon and Raimi mentioned that his interpretation of Venom would combine several versions of Venom... so, take that as you will...

That's not happening at all. Don't know where you heard that, but it's utter nonsense. The symbiote comes to earth on a meteorite. It's says so in the movie novelization, and we've seen pictures of it.

Nothing to do with John Jameson. He's not in it at all.

It was speculated early on. It's not like I'm making it up. Ease up, dude. Not all of us have the time of day to keep up...

Sorry, didn't mean to seem harsh.

That speculation about John Jameson has been debunked for a long time now. With a month before the movie's release, I thought everyone knew that. Especially with the novel being out.

Ock is right. I've read the novelization. John Jameson is NOT in the movie AT ALL.

Free to say that the symbiote comes to Earth in a:

meteorite

LOL... I didn't even know the novel was out! Guess I know what I'll be picking up after work...

they should have gone for the symbiote coming to earth with John Jameson
but its too late in the day to complain about it now

/\ Me too.... BUT it would have taken too long, took up much needed time for other things. And the space shuttle would have cost LOTS of $$$.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I just watched the Nick TV spot that aired over the weekend, and I am very happy that Spidey has a sense of humor in the new movie. The line to Sandman, "I'm the sheriff in these here parts" really got me smiling!

Agreed, plus having John Jameson bring the symbiote back in the space shuttle might seem too much like a seperate movie. This is Spider-Man not Alien 5.
