My area was mainly full of centrists and moderates people were only considered as Democrats or Republicans during election time. Also, some teachers tend to express there own personal beliefs especially if your in a History or English class.

My english teacher discusses 9/11 conspiracy theories with us and talks about what a quagmire the Iraq war is, and my history teacher once brought in several American draftdodgers to talk to us. Even my civics teacher described Pierre Trudeau as "a political hero".

I was looking for a young Democrats club but could not find it.

My younger sisters school only had a young republicans club. So she joined, was outwardly liberal, was voted president and changed it to the political debate club.
She is 15, so there is still hope for Americas future

I have lately been sitting around around wondering why my Generation isn't doing anything about what is going on in the world right now? I mean people between the ages 20-30 have a great opportunity.

A chance to start a whole hippie uprising for this Gen. Why aren't we doing it!? I mean the whole world is going to hell in a hand basket, & we are just sitting around complaining about it. Instead of going out there & doing something why?

I have personally been giving some thought to running for Mayor of my town. I know that it isn't much, but at least it is something

I rather write scripts than be a hippie, that's why. I actually try not to pay attention to the world's problems. I know that isn't good....but I'm self-centered.

Okay, as for a serious post on the topic...

From a personal level, it's not so much that I have a disinterest in politics, it's more I have a extreme dislike of the people involved in politics.

Whether it be Democrat or Republican, everything always has to be so ugly. If you're taking to most Democrats and say you like tax cuts, you're an idiot, and you're taking to most Republicans and say you like gay marriage, you're evil.

That's a broad generalization to be sure, but I think it at least shows the general atmosphere. And I just wouldn't want to be greatly involved something that, well, distasteful.

As for protesting, for some reason, I've always found that to be one of the most annoying things in the world, so you'd never catch me there, no.

I don't know what you're talking about, I see plenty of people in their 20's contributing to their country and making a difference. Hell, the mayor of Pittsburgh is 26. t:

I suppose maybe in your area people aren't doing anything. But I see plenty of people trying to get involved but the generation of 20's to 30's aren't really in the positions of power to make the decisions that REALLY need to be made. They're still being made by selfish greedy old people.
