Why Do You Collect Comics?

in fairness i was having regular sex until i started reading comics again. i thought the two were unconnected but im starting to think about it now...

I started collecting comics because I hate reading them

I actually started because they looked cool when I was younger. Gave up for a while, then got back into them because my friend had started collecting.

Now I use them as a basis for writing stories and screen plays; comics really are brilliant for this, due to the fact they combine the literary nuances and pacing of books with the cinematic quality of film. It's the perfect springboard for aspiring writers, wether they wish to be screen writers, novelists or comic book writers

That's so true, I've always believed this as well. Comic books have this image of being geeky, immature kids' stuff from those who don't read them.

But if art, films, and books are all so respected, than how can one medium that combines all three be anything but?

When I was younger around 9 years old I started collecting basketball cards. I got into comics because the basketball shop also sold comics as well. My Dad was big into comics and loved Marvel some I started there. I got into Spider-Man, X-Men, and Fantastic Four. Then I watched Batman TAS and dove into the world of DC Comics. I collected comics for years and bought them regularly up until 1995. I was 14 at the time and was about to enter high school. I still read a few stories from time to time. The last time I regularly bought Batman comics was when the Hush storyline was going in. I still keep up with the characters through other mediums. Comics don't exactly turn the female sex on. But I don't necessarily bring it up. If I'm on a date I'm smart enough not to talk about Batman, Spider-Man, Buffy, or Angel. The main hobby that I may bring up is that I play bass guitar. The funny thing about all this is that I played high school and college ball but I wouldn't necessarily consider myself the typical football player...haha.
