Why the Hate for this Movie?

Nothing looks good about this **** fest nothing at all, I am sure 10yr old kids might like it as it might remind them of a show they regularly watch on television called Power Rangers.

Which was made by Fox:cwink:

Except Power Rangers was the ****...about 15 years ago. Most of these kids have probably never even heard of DB.

Why the hate for this movie?

Fox management/handling of this film has been poor. Official promotion will start 3 months and a couple of days if the trailer is in fact shown in December. Leaked pictures and the Expo footage has been lackluster. Production was rushed.Script written by Ben Ramsey. Inclusion of high school along with other unnecessary film cliches.Fox has made attempts to save this film by postponing it to an April 2009 date to supposedly work on CGI/ and to re shoot scenes or just film additional scenes. It will premiere first in Japan spawning bootlegs all over the internet weeks before the North American premiere.

Although I'm still looking forward to watch this film and I'm trying to remain as positive as I can. Its undeniable that crucial mistakes have been made. With the recent footage and promotional posters I've seen from other 2009 films (ex: Star Trek, Watchmen etc) Dragonballs leaked promotional pictures and expo footage seem "awkward and cheap" (Probably because of the rushed scheduling for the initial target release date of August 15 of 2008). I'm waiting for Fox to officially release the trailer. The trailer should be a good indicator of the quality of the final cut for this film.

You nailed it.

At this point expecting something visually amazing along the lines of star trek, watchmen etc. will be kinda foolish since those movies have much better talent attached and they had proper shooting schedule etc. Dragonball was rushed big time. I think fox saw how bad this movie turned out and hence they delayed it till april 2009 and they still feel it is crappy movie hence they aren't spending money to market. This is eragon and avp 2 type of situation. Eragon was a 100 million movie too and boy it looked so cheap.

You use to be very positive about this movie but it seems like slowly you are loosing hope.

Of all the fan boy movies coming out next year this one is probably gonna underwhelm and feel weird and cheap.

well star trek and watchmen have people who actually care about the project on it.

You know I will will try and go watch DB in theatre but if it turns out to be very tacky, cheap and doesn't has something that wowvs me visually and action wise in the trailer then I will most likely skip it because it simply isn't worth it and on top of that I have exams that month.

I haven't lost total hope for the film and I've always been more than aware of Fox inability to properly adapt "Dragonball". What has recently made me more "vocal" about Dragonballs mismanagement has been comparing the management other studios have had with properties that have a lot of fans (The recent Batman reboots, Star Trek, Watchmen) These studios in contrast to 20th Century Fox took the time to plan out a resoanble shooting schedule, promote their films early, and have fans and everyone else interact with the promotional marketing process (ex:The Dark Knight). Fox just hasn't handled the production properly for "Dragonball" thats something that sadly can't be denied. I honestly feel bad for James Wong and the cast members for having to participate in what seems to be a flawed production.

Totally agree. You know maybe all the actors and directors should stop working for fox. Then fox will realize and change their habits. I don't understand why they don't learn from other studios and from their failures.

chatwin and masters were in november casted right? in december i think they started filming.
this was rushed for august. then they changed the realese date. so i dont think that they changed the date because it wasnt good enough but because there was no realistic time to finish it on august.

what did i do?
i typed in google Chow Yun Fat casted and dragonball. and then i was looking at some sites reporting about hes casting. and what do you find out? that a lot of people actually liked that he was casted.
one of the big reason IMO was this

he looked like Roshi. so of course people were at least happy with him.

and what do we get?
this?

but dark b...a bald headed asian man with a beard would be too ridiculous in a movie. The audience wouldn't take it seriously.....

well fox never said this. i knwo that you are joking

the thing that makes me so angry is that they casted the actor who in POTC looked perfect and then used hes normal look for the movie. on what kind of drugs are those guys at FOX?

well I can't believe some people are defending the change with that logic. It just goes to show how much the production team doesn't care

I'm not impressed by your performance.

I'm just not sure what looks so good about the movie.

I'm really not interested in getting into arguments with you anymore. That's all. I'd prefer we'd be friends, but I'm not going to even let myself think that's possible...

Well, I'm not here for the movie anymore to be honest... It'll be fun and that's all I really want from it. What's keeping me tied to this forum currently is the people, otherwise I'd be gone to finally get a wife, have some kids, I don't know, just live... I like this group of screwballs a little too much I guess. So that's what looks good about the movie, these bunch of guys and I guess one of them's a hot girl, that I just so enjoy taking this journey with... Usually I'd troll around and act like a bafoon, but this time I'm doing things differently and maybe get a few laughs along the way. After all the stuff I've been through, seen, done, in the last few years, I just need it... The kids, movie's for them anyway. Us old folks should make sure they're happy, and maybe that's my calling in life, but that's for another thread... :lips:

Dude, just look at some of the posts on this forum defending the 'new improved' Master Roshi. :woot:

But the trailers not out yet

I'm sorry the "teaser" was terrible. Its not like the official trailer will be any better all it'll have is more special effects and possibly better editing. :whatever:

And because he looked like that all Chows scenes were cut from the movie in China because they didn't like the stereotypical look.

china? different people. really different people.

its not a ''china ''movie

yoda: care i dont what people in china think.

Ok, how often did people mention that that wasn't the reason? It wasn't about the look, it was because the Chinese were the bad guys. And do you honestly think, in the land where Roshi was freaking created, they'd ban him from the cinemas? I mean, what the hell?
