Why the Hate for this Movie?

honestly, i could care less if they deviate from the manga/anime as long as the changes made sense. it made sense for Peter Jackson to end the Two Towers after the Battle of Helms Deep, it doesn't make sense to ground the world of Dragon Ball in a more realistic environment.

my complaint is that it doesn't seem like they're embracing the craziness and wackiness of the anime/manga but instead are shying away from a lot of it.

They are though Gokus a guy who lives in the woods with his grandpa and trains.

Bulma meets with Goku, tells him about Dragonballs and go off to look for them.

They meet Yamcha in the desert and they fight.

They meet Roshi and he trains Goku

Meanwhile Piccolo is set free and he wants the Dragonballs for eternal youth.

everything you listed is BASIC Dragonball though. the things you listed are the MINIMUM requirements for a film to be a DB film. i don't want a watered down Dragonball film or a film that's BASICALLY Dragonball........i want a film that is unapologetically Dragonball.

I wanted to see talking animals... I wanted to see an old man whoop martial artists asses. I wanted to see cars coming from capsules. I wanted to see a kid riding a nimbus. I wanted him to turn into a giant ape when the full moon was out

2. Maybe we are, maybe we aren't but the clues so far are indicating that we aren't going to see that especially since there is a lack of tail.

Goku, Bulma, Master Roshi, Krillin, Capsule Corps (i'm assuming that no one hearing or seeing anything Capsule Corps means that it's not in the movie), talking creatures (not necessarily animals), crazy technology, etc.

Ok here is one, how about a liquid metal assassin that has to kill someone in the past so that they don't start an uprising in the future. The assassin could turn into anyone and then a robot from the future has to save the kid

how about this magical ring that could control the world is in the hands of a tiny person with big feet and goes through a long adventure battling orcs and the evils of the land in order to destroy the magical ring

how about five kids who win a trip to a sealed off factory where the creator is a genius whos inventions border on magic.

how about a young boy who meets some robots who introduce him to an old wizard who teaches him in the ways of an old religion in order to help him battle an evil empire that is set on conquering the galaxy.
