Why the Hate for this Movie?

Hmmmm......I was thinking in terms of Dragonball series ages Bulma was a teenager, maybe 16 and Yamcha a tad older, like 18 or 19. Not too much of an age gap there of course. He sure does still look pretty young, well young for a guy in his 40's or 50's, by the time Dragonball GT ended too. In the live action movie it would seem like Bulma was in her late teens and Yamcha in his 30's. It's still not cringe worthy but still uncomfortable an age gap. But like I said, I believe they will just skip over the fact Bulma and Yamcha were a couple and fast forward to Bulma shacking up with Vegeta just to avoid the connotations that Bulma is a little...minx. In the anime she basically cheated on poor Yamcha and selfishly accused him of the same behavior to assuage her guilt with having seduced Vegeta.

Good point. I'm done trying to figure this movie out to be honest.

If they dont edit Piccolo for the trailer and its released the way it is now hate will spread like the plague and rub off on non fans.

It is so important hes edited green.

Fox probably leaked these on purpose saw the bad reaction and took them off surely they know why its getting such hate.

Please dont be that thick Fox if people on here can turn him green, for goodness sake you can aswell.

I think their relationship is the only reason they chose to put Yamcha in this movie. We need to see characters that that are able to bond and create relationships so we can feel for those characters.

We need to feel something for them when they die and a reason for the other characters to want to wish them back. We should also want to see them brought back.

Well, I don't know about Yamcha being a prerequisite to Bulma falling madly in love with him. It's not like there are any other characters they could choose from Dragonball that wouldn't be hell to adapt, like Oolong. I think they'd go with the most recognizable ones first. And let's face it, Tien's not as popular as Yamcha is. But Yamcha's huge quirk is that he's this big, bad desert bandit who just happens to become mortified in the presence of girls. It's funny in the context of a character who's in his late teens/early twenties. But for a man pushing 40? Steve Carrell Yamcha is not.

I wonder if they will recast Yamcha in the 2nd movie?

All in all I'm curious now about this movie, but I highly question alot of the aesthetic choices that have been made because they are just frivolous.

How old is he?

Hes probably playing a mid 20 year old anyway

Thats not so bad, Toby Maguire was 30 something playing a High School Student

atleast he looked the part. still, the idea of 30 somethings playing teens seems kinda creepy.:wow:

For instance, is it asking too much to make Piccolo green and give him antennae?

Is it that monumentally difficult to make Master Roshi bald, give him glasses and a goatee?

Would it really, truly cause third world nations to suffer just by renaming that character Teto to Krillin since it's abundantly evident he's just a Krillin stand in?

1) Maybe because antennae ended up looking dumb so they put little bumps on his head to make it look less ridiculous. Maybe they are not having him green through the whole film but only when he powers up, or is young, or maybe he is disguising his true green form. Maybe Piccolo Jr will be green.

2) You got me on master roshi. I have no idea.

3) Maybe they couldn't find a good Krillen yet so they decided to save him for the next film, and Teto doesn't look close to Krillen or play the part of him. If Teto is not a fighter than it wouldn't make since to make him Krillen yet. Maybe this film is better off without introducing too many characters and is trying not to pull a Spider-man 3 by having too many main characters without ample time to develop them. So Krillen may be in the script for the next films instead.

And just how do you 100% know this for sure? If nobody's giving their best, of course something is going to look sloppy and unconvincing. I bet if they had real talent working on this movie they could make it work. Just look at the Hellboy creatures.

Haha! Too true. I might even start defending this movie sooner or later.:oldrazz:

Well hey, if it keeps us amused I say go for it. :oldrazz:

I think they wanna save Krillin for a sequel.

Like how X-men 2 introduced Nightcrawler and X-men 3 introduced Beast and Angel to keep sequels exciting.

I thought krillin should have been a cameo in this movie. He would be a martial artist who was killed by Piccolo and at the end of the movie Goku wishes back everyone that Piccolo killed.

Krillin would vow to protect Goku and be at his side at all times, it would be a joke though because everyone else would know its Goku's protection he wants.

He would also have some self conflict in the sequel because Goku died and He let Piccolo take his son. Other characters would tease him about how he messed up even though it's not really a laughing matter.

But Krillin's not in this movie..so yea.

if they were going to have krillin in a movie, it should have been this one.
