Why the hell doesn't Nintendo hire voice actors for their games?

Is Nintendo really that poor to only use subtiles in their games?

It's not the dark ages anymore Nintendo, get with the times!:o

...what?

Part of the charm of these iconic franchises (Mario, Zelda, etc...) is that they dont speak. I love that we have never heard them. Nintendo knows what its doing.

Are you saying that you wont buy a Zelda or Mario game because it has not VA?

How many of their games really need voice acting? Even games like Metroid and Zelda aren't extremely cinematic or story heavy, and Mario is about as far from cinematic or story heavy as you can get. If they put an RPG out on the Wii, then yeah, they definitely need some voice acting, but for most of their games it would just be an unnecessary expense.

unfortunately, thats why they're lackluster. although a game does'nt need VA to be great example, shadow of the colossus, but taht game was very cinematic and thus makes up for thelack of VA. metroid and zelda lack in both departments.

mario speaks.

nintendo doesnt want ppl to be so caught up in how the charcter should or shouldnt sound so they only give most of the franchise charcters limited speech so that you can focus on the game itself. Or in other words feel as though you are not controling some character but you are the character yourself. But i believe that games like zelda and mario would be bogged down with voice work because they often try to get the point of the story across through getures and imagery.

I think the fact that they don't speak is part of their charm. Just like how in all Mario games everyone else says things but all Mario does is gestures and such and never actually talks besides his "Itsa me Mario" type italian quotes.

Leave the voice acting for the companies games that need it. There are times that voice acting have ruined games for me. FFX's voice acting was horrible and I missed the text boxes while I played it. :down

What are you smoking?

mario speaks in the partners in time DS game. it's italianish gibberish which i'm sure is offensive to real italian speakers.

but yeah, not speaking, in general, is part of nintendo characters' charm.

They have subtitles so dumbasses like yourself know how to read.

i just recently realized that all their games are basically jokes. Mario Party 8? Just a joke. Yes, they have quality games like Zelda and Metroid, but that's really it. It's like they can only sell 8 different characters... That's why the only one you shoudl buy is Super Smash Bros.

Remember the horrible voice work in Resident Evil?

And honestly I don't think I could stand listening to Mario for an entire sentance....the phrases he spits out are fine....but a whole Sentance? I don't think so.

Sentence?

He was ok to listen to on the tv show.

Between Starsky and GoldenAgeHero the trolls are out in force today. What's wrong? Is Nintendo still outselling your pet systems (I for the record have a 360 and love it. I just don't get these flame wars). Did the fact that somethign as silly as Wii Fit steal all the headlines from Halo 3 piss y'all off that much?

 :p

Anyway, voice acting I do not want to see in a Zelda game. I feel voice acting ruined Final Fantasy. And to say Zelda is lackluster in gameplay is a very moronic thing. And the last Zelda game (Twilight PRincess) was as cinematic as any video game I saw in the last year and is easily the best game on the 3 main systems right now (Wii, 360 and PS3).

Mario doesn't need voice acting other than small sentences and now all other characters besides himself talk. But I sense if he and his supporting cast had full fledged conversations we'd be going into Sonic Adventure territory with such characters. No thanks.

I do think Metroid should have VA, but what is one of hte best franchises of the last decade keeping it ot the minimum does not ruin it. But the day Link has dialoague and Nintendo gives him an identity and personality instead of leaving it up to the players is the day they kill one of the great video game heroes.

IF it ain't broke, don't fix it. You saw what they tried to pull with that Tom and Jerry movie back in the 90's where they started talking. Nah.

Just for the record, I don't own a Wii, 360 or PS3:oldrazz: :p

Nintendo games never need voice acting because there better off that way. The best game with voice acting from Nintendo is Resident Evil 4.

I would say the best voice acting from Nintendo is "The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay".
