I know he'll be in the movie, but do you think at any point in the movie he will actually suit up as War Machine?

A lot of what I read has been that they want Tony "back in the cave" in the sense that he cant call for help and he's isolated. So I think if Rhodey actually shows up as War Machine it'll be during the climax like in IM2

I doubt Rhodey will get as much armor time (or even face time) as he did in IM2, but he'll be able to log some hours in the suit. I figure he's good for at least one battle.

I don't know if he'll be in it much, but it would be weird not to see him armour up considering all the armoured villans and armoured allies that are rumoured. Though saying that it does look like Iron Patriot shares a lot of features with War Machine so it could possibly just turn out to be a redecorated WM armour that's given to someone else.

I'd think we'll see Rhodey suit up if the situation is like him taking on Mandarin's minions who could be IP and Firepower while Tony handles Mandarin

Black and Feige have stated that Tony is going to be separated from his safety net in this movie. Metaphorically, he's back in the cave. So, I'd venture that, Rhodey might begin the movie with the suit, but something will happen that he won't be able to support Tony in that way. Perhaps an injury, or just Tony is isolated from him.

I hope not. That would be waste of screentime.

I strongly doubt IP and Firepower will be minions of Mandarin. They'll probably be fighting *against* Mandarin and his (other) armored minions.

If War Machine doesn't suit up in this movie, then everything we saw of him in the last 2 movies was all for nothing.

I love a great suit up scene. I say yes.

War Machine gets damaged and Rhodey either gets hurt real bad or dies, and War Machine gets updated as IP.

War Maschine will be in it, I think. Maybe.

Yes, now we have our answer.

But it won't be the black and grey; it'll be Iron Patriot color scheme.

I kinda prefer the Grey and Silver WM look in IM2 not liking the IP armor as the new WM

I kind of thought that WM would be decked out in the IP-themed suit since the big gun on the shoulder and the bulkiness of the chest/shoulder areas really look like WM from IM2.

I agree, but I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure that color scheme is pretty temporary. We'll probably see WM back in his gray colors by the end of the film...

I hope that's a one scene thing with War Machine and the suit gets damaged beyond repair.

We don't need a repeat of the last movie where all the commercials, merchandise, plot points, etc were Iron Man and War Machine and the villains got squat.

What, you wanted commercials and merch for Whiplash.....? :cwink:

Eh, I think Iron Man 3 is already shaping up to be a merch bonanza for toymakers. How many suit variants is Tony confirmed to have....seven? And you've got at least two versions of War Machine; possibly Coldblood-7 and Firepower; at least a few "Chinese armors"; probably Mandarin; Killian himself might turn into some kind of Extremis-ized supervillain....and Pepper wears the Rescue armor. (JOKE)

I think it'll be more like IM1, where he is on the government side that's against Tony, and he can't help until the very end. He'll have an early scene where he is involved with shutting Stark Enterprises down or something, and then they'll conflict mid-movie, he'll have a background story in the second half where he finds the corruption in the government, goes rogue, and in the end joins up with Tony again in full War Machine glory. Or something like that.

And, if they want to make me very happy, a mid-credits scene where Fury recruits him to the Avenger Initiative.
