Rumors are starting to circulate that Will Smith has auditioned for the part of Transformers Movie Jazz. Will Smith has experience doing voice over work in films and has worked several times with director Michael Bay. Messages left for Will Smith's publicist requesting a comment were not returned.

So good thing or bad thing?

Well, Jazz needs to have at least some personality in order for his character arc to be pulled off effectively.

I don't doubt Smith's ability, but will his quite distinctive voice be distracting?

Interesting rumor . . . as far as having a star pull, I think Will would do more good, than harm [I believe he's popular across the board], as far as his voice - in my opinion his voice doesn't have the same qualities of the original G1 Jazz, however mr. Smith's voice has it's own qualities, plus he is an accomplished actor.

That isn't a bad bit of casting. It makes perfect sense, seeing how he has worked with Bay before.

Are you refering to Scatman Crothers, the original voice actor for Jazz? The man has been dead for 20 years.

I'm just happy it's still a black guy. Will sounds a but young, though, I'd prefer a much older, gravelly sounding black man, but if Will gets it I won't be pissed.

I'd prefer Phil Lamar to play Jazz. He's been doing voices for cartoons for years, was a great improviser as a guest on whose line is it anyway, and good skit actor on mad tv.

Or maybe we will. They have 2-3 lines, it would be easy for Bay to call in some "movie friends" to do some quick lines. It wouldn't really get into schedule conflicts or anything. They could run in, do the 2 lines, then leave. With a Bay-slap on the ass.

Jazz has to have more then 2-3 lines. Theres like 5 autobots in this movie I think, so I don't see why they wouldn't focus I Jazz at all.

Well he does like being in big budget 4th of July movies so you never know. The thing I'm curious about is if some of the transformers will have accents or not like in the cartoon I mean if these people are so bent on realism which is why they tried to make them look more alien then it wouldn't make much sense to give them human accents.
