Transformers Will Transformers Trounce the Competition?

This film as a lot of repeat value at this point seeing how it hasn't been spoiled completely like Spider-Man 3 was. I can see this film doing pretty good, actually.

We have no idea how Die Hard will do but I expect it to do fairly well...

I really doubt that, the soft rating and been there/done that plot have seriously tarnished the word of mouth. I cant think of anyone seriously looking forward to it.

Sorry. I guess people are willing to see a watered down Die-Hard. color me wrong, unfortunatly.

Despite the annoying Justin Long, the action is unlike anything ever seen in the previous DH flicks.

Watered down cut? Yes. But call me stupid, mother fcker if I miss out on seeing a Die Hard film in theaters... yes, it will be the first Die Hard film of my generation.

I've done a scan of the Hype and there is a pretty good Transformers buzz going around the place. A lot of it is talking about BO and how it won't do or will do well. FF2 fans aren't liking the fact that its got all the MTV movie awards on lock and are calling the footage released so far "cartoony". So its getting some buzz...good and bad. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

Those people (FF fans) will say anything looks cartoony! Anything but their beloved FF movie.

I thought the first FF was mediocre, and I enjoyed Michael Bay's last film "the island". I do think FF2 looks far superior to the first one, and so far Transformers doesn't look like much more than eye candy. It just seems very shallow to me with no characters to relate to. Kind of like that Lost in Space film with the Friends star in it. I'm gonna go see it for sure opening weekend though because Sci-Fi is my thing...period.

Well, I'm not going to start any beef with them because they love their movie just as much as we love ours. But I definitely think that any buzz is good buzz...so let them buzz away ;)

Personally, I think they're showing way TOO MUCH in the promos. On TV the bots really do look cartoony and not hugely impressive. A lot is lost on the smallscreen. That may work against it.

I agree, FF2 does look much better than part 1...I just don't have very much faith in Tim Story as a director...no matter what his material is. I love the Silver Surfer though...so I'm conflicted.

And yes, I don't think Transformers will have much character development...but I think Shia will be pretty good in it as he is a pretty decent actor. The comedic elements will be sharp and witty...I don't see too much eye rollage going on.

SM3 already has the name of "the disappointment of the summer". Pirates 3 wasn't great either. I expect TF to get better reviews, despite the lack of character development. i'm sure there will be some, and if the movie is indeed 130 minutes, there's plenty of time for that. Plus Shia and Bumblebee will (hopefully) provide some great moments. I do see some eye-popping and drooling going on.

I think the promotions have been fine, so far. Spiderman 3 was promoted to the ends of the Earth, and despite mediocre reviews, it now carries the best movie opening ever.

People that are writing off Transformers doing well because bad promoting and Harry Potter being released a week later are underestimating how different and fresh this movie will be compared to the other releases this summer. Harry Potter will do over $250mil, that's almost a guarantee. But I think Transformers is going to turn some heads, as well.

P.S. FF2 does looke way better than 1 and I'm excited to see that too.

It's the curse of the 3rd chapter. With the exception of Revenge of the Sith and Back to the Future 3 I don't think I've ever seen a 3rd chapter that met expectations. The expectation build-up is just way too high.

My hope is that filmmakers will break away from the "trilogy" idea... IMO X3 and Spidey 3 are both OK if the story is continued in another movie.

You liked BTTF3? Wow... never saw that as that good a film, maybe I just didn't like the whole western theme of the film. And I wasn't around back then either- just home video stage, I rarely watch BTTF3 and more or less only watch 1 and 2.

Transformers will be the top movie of this summer!!!!!!!!!

Yah.

Part 3 is very good. A bit mature... but it had a lot of heart and was well done. With the exception of the first, it's my favorite one.

Then again I'm the kind of guy that thinks Star Trek TMP is a great movie. It just goes to show you what kinda sci-fi I like. :yay:

Damn, no love for Die Hard With A Vengeance, huh? I was watching that this weekend, and it is hardcore!!

I loved Die Hard 3. Hensleigh really changed it up and beat the hell out of the characters. That's why I loved him behind The Punisher.

Forgot about that one. Yeah... I liked Die Hard With A Vengeance... heck, I've loved all them. Which is why I'm looking forward to the new one too.

I think this movie can be summed up in two words: Dark Horse.

I see the 6-day (Tuesday to Sunday) total for this film at about 125-135 million. Dropping to about 25-30 million the following weekend.
