A question for anyone who has the Beta.
Is Windows 7 going to be worth getting?

which means mine will probably come in soon. i'm going to try installing it on my old desktop i gave to my mother first, and deleting the old windows from it.

if i like it, i will probably switch it over to my desktop. i just dont wanna have to save everything to an external hard drive and go through all of that. ill have to move like 50 gigs of stuff at least

I just installed it last night.. I LOVE IT, runs smooth, looks great, good compatibility with all my programs and hardware installed. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

yea its pretty good, but some compatibility issues were bugging me but i think i fixed it now. but it took way too long to install imo with the pre-installation

Heres a question for you, windows 7 now comes with 64 and 32 bit, if i install the 64 on my machine and the 32 on a laptop, will the serials conflict or can i get away with it?

not sure i havent tried it yet, i only used it on my desktop

so if i want to transfer my files (music, photos, documents, etc) over to the Windows 7, i need to put them on some other kind of hardware? or is there a way to transfer all those over from Vista?

i'm really dreading the possibility of having to reinstall everything, programs included

no you dont have to, the cd will transfer it for ya
i got all my files back including my AVATAR wallpaper i had before installing 7
all my settings are the same, all you have to do after installing 7 is use Windows Update to get all the latest updates for 7

any reports of programe not working. i'm thinking of a new laptop and i would really need to know if CS3 is compatable

I have CS4 and I dont want to lose those amongst other programs.

kane, did you delete the Vista after upgrading?

I've been trying to install Windows 7 since 1pm (it's 11:30pm now). Took awhile to download the stuff and open. Then when I run setup, it gets to "Gathering files, settings, and programs" but it was stuck at 45% for 2-3 hours. I give up, uninstall the programs with compatibility issues (Daemon Tools, Modem Diognostic, Itunes, Skype) except Google Toolbar since I didn't have that anywhere (I even downloaded it for FF and IE and uninstalled it). It's been 50 minutes since it got to "Gathering" again and it's still on 45% (has been for 8 min).

I don't know if it's my laptop or the upgrade. I absolutely despise my laptop.

did you have to reinstall your programs?

stuff like aim, photoshop, etc that doesn't come installed with the computer

no, all my files and programs are the same
i didnt had to reinstall it

CS3 works perfect on mine. Even the programs that Windows 7 said wouldn't be compatible (Skype/iTunes) works just fine. Installing over Vista even freed up 25gb from my hard drive.

yea now i got 335GB free instead of 300GB
