Anyone who has not seen the original Wolf Man film should. Though in some ways it is a 1941 B-movie (I say it rides the line between B and A), it had a top notch screenplay, for the time excellent make-up from the legend that is Jack Pierce and most notably an AMAZING cast. Lon Chaney and Claude Rains were iconic in their roles and despite the quality casting of Del Toro and Hopkins, it is hard to believe they'll measure up.

It is not scary, but it plays like a well told Greek tragedy. Unfortunately, I understand the remake takes away much of the tragedy and the brilliant ending of the original. With that said, it does it's own thing and visually looks like a real treat that may actually be scary unlike the original. Time will tell.

Sorry, I don't trust someone from George Romero zombie flicks...

JK- Thanks for the Link

There was a late rumor in Dec. that Wolfman was going through another editor. The rumor was false, and some websites revealed that what actually happened was two test screenings were done with an 80 and 125 cut and the latter performed better.

Where are you getting your info?

That wasn't false. Around mid- to late November, Variety confirmed that Walter Murch and Mark Goldblatt were hired to recut the movie. Murch is co-credited with original editor Dennis Virkler on the final one-sheet art.

They've been showing some really great tv spots with new scenes over the past couple of days that are really awesome. Can't find them online anywhere.
Syfy channel is a great channel to catch them. One commercial shows the Wolf man leaping down from a rooftop on some guy; it looked great. The other new scenes are more dialogue but still awesome. There is one commercial, however, with no music at all, that shows Talbot being brought into the large auditorium (the mental facility we've seen before) in the wheel chair and transforming. All you hear are the grunts, bone cracking, body twisting and growls as he breaks from the chair. It's pretty intense!

Highly creepy poster... I like it :D

I've seen a dozen trailers & tv spots for this, I think it looks pretty scary. I have spotted one thing I didn't like though.

The CGI hand transformation, I don't know how everyone else feels but I prefare more practical transformation like the one from 'American Werewolf In London', OK maybe not exactly like it however it looks so much more real as well as scary if your seeing bones pop out of place, fur growing & all that. I'm sure with the things they can do now (movie prop wise) they could make these types of things look three times as good as they did some 30 years ago & far more realistic than some of the CGI they've used.

None the less its a minor nitpicking thing I've noticed, I'll still be flocking to see this. Looks scary

SPFX maestro Rick Baker on the overuse of CGI in Wolfman (from a while back)

Rick Baker on Wolfman producers choosing CG over practical FX

interesting.

if the guy really couldnt count the teeth then Rick should slap him.

This interview really made me worried when I read it last year, since it showed a major issue with CG artists not properly checking the reference material. That comes down to meaning for the money spent in hiring people, supervisors, the editors, directors, etc. thatno one could catch something like the number of teeth being off.

Hey. Nivek, let us know when you get the figure. Curious as to what you'll think of it.

Got it this afternoon. I'm not a resale collector, so that sucker was out of the box 5 minutes after I got home. I have to say, it's a awesome 12" figure, probably the best Werewolf figure in my Collection now. I was surprised at the detail, the base pose is awesome and it has just enough articulation not to spoil it's looks. The shirt actually (thankfully) has more of a burgundy color to it than a pink spilled cool-aid color as some have noted. The cloth shirt and vest are pretty sweet (didn't expect the back to be a satin material like a real vest), but the sculpted details (like the roof of the mouth, the sculpt to the hair) are the awesome kind of details you pick up with clever staged lighting. Best feature, IMO, are the claws, especially the feet. 2nd, the facial expression. It's not all that heavy either, and can stand on it's own nicely, but I might make up a display background for it.

Ha! Yeah, as soon as I got it, I immediately took it out of the box as well. It simply must be enjoyed to its fullest! It's staring down, growling at me, from the top of my book shelf now.
It's an amazing figure and a testament to Rick Baker's brilliance. The sculpt work and detail and body language is fantastic from any angle you look at it. It's my favorite werewolf design yet. Although, I did see a statue of Werewolf by Night a few years ago that was almost as impressive.
As much as I wish the blood was identical to the blood splatter from the original model, I have to say, I am not the least bit disappointed. This is one helluva figure. I can't wait to see it in action on the big screen.

As a sculptor too, I love how the actual facial make-up design isn't very thick, but looks incredibly canine.

One thing I enjoy is seeing the Wolfman taking out Baker again and again in the trailers.

Rick Baker is in the trailer? I did not know that! Wait a minute, is he the white haired guy being tackled from the side? I didn't realize that was him!

Yup, don't worry, a lot of people don't realize he looks like a younger Saruman.

I'm a little worried about the film considering they brought it so many different editors - some even mere weeks before the film's opening. I'll still see it anyways though.

If the movie ends up being somewhat entertaining, I would be shocked.
