Are you saying Wolf Man has "horrible" reviews? The only reviews I've read so far, are old ones from last year when there was a screening with incomplete sfx and yet to be re-shot scenes. I haven't read any new reviews yet.

No, the reviews for 'Valentines Day' seem pretty bad so it could perhaps hurt business for it, but with it being a weekend where couples will be going to the theater alot it should still do well.

Your correct, we don't have any reviews for 'The Wolfman' to go off from the final cut that will be presented to us all on Friday. Should be some in the next couple of days though.

I'm going to go ahead and give my opinion.

First and foremost, I like Wolfman. He's one of my favorite classic monsters, and I want nothing more than for this to be great.

Having said that, nothing I have seen or heard has done anything for me. Even after the constant delays, the CGI special effects are pretty damn poor (the shot where Lawrence's eye bulges out of his head as he's transforming is just flat-out horrible). The acting looks wooden and mediocre at best. Considering the big names they got for this project, they all look and sound like they're bored out of their minds. And outside the forest sequences (which looks beautiful and atmospheric), color me unimpressed with the overall look of the film (palette-wise). I've watched clips and trailers for this film, and each one I find myself sitting in my chair with no reaction. It just looks dull to me.

I'll be seeing this Friday, and I'll be more than happy to come back here and admit I'm wrong if this film turns out to be fantastic. But where I'm standing now, it just doesn't look that great.

Oops! I misread your post, sorry! I thought you were talking about the holiday itself. I forgot that there is an actual movie coming out called "Valentine's Day". LOL! Anyway, yes, that looks pretty damn bad.
I am hoping Wolfman is number one, and I imagine number 2 will be that Percy Jackass and the Lightning Creep movie, followed by Avatar.

Yeah, the reviews for Wolfman should start pouring in early this week. And even if they are negative I am still going in extremely excited to see it. I just can't help but feel positive about this movie.

Dammit! The one other scene I was looking forward to the most, the ballroom scene, was cut.

I was so looking forward to that.

I was bummed to read that too. I don't get it though, why are they still showing those scenes in new trailers? Anyway, at least it'll be in the deleted scenes on the DVD.

I just don't see how The Wolfman will be number 1. I still believe Universal dug it's grave by pushing the film back to this weekend. Percy, Valentines Day, and Dear John will all be pretty competitive. I'm not saying it'll finish fourth, but I just dont know if it will be able to recoup it's budget.

I think like you said earlier Universal has too much faith in this. How much money was required in reshoots and bringing in different editors and other stuff. This film has a pretty big budget so I hope it has a huge weekend but we'll see how it fares against really good competition.

I want it to be great, but there are so many things (the director, the CGI, possible silliness with Talbot's father) that worry me. The many delays don't help either.

I was so looking forward to that.

I read somewhere that the producers are actually working on an extended cut DVD. Maybe it'll be there.

On yesterday's newspaper there was an interview with BDT where he said (I'm paraphrasing) he wanted to have the best make up possible instead of CGI, so the film would be "true" to the Universal classics "feel" and legacy of the 30's and 40's films.

I'm ****ing bummed they cut the masquerade ball scene. The quick shots we saw in various trailers made it look awesome and scary

I agree, but he does say he cut that because he and his team really wanted the big "rampage" through London sequence. If that means that they sacrificed the ballroom attack for the scene where he is leaps down from the building and attacks everyone in the town-square and leaps over that steam-engine trolley etc, well... I don't know...that's a pretty incredible scene too! And we haven't even seen the rest of that sequence yet!
I mean, if there are more scenes of him leaping from roof to roof, jumping down and savagely attacking and throwing people around in the streets of London that might be even better than the ballroom scene. Ya know?

I guess we'll be able to compare once the dvd\blu-ray comes out with the deleted scenes.

Good point, man. If we had to sacrifice the ballroom for the London rampage, it was the right decision. I guess in a perfect world I would just want both. I was pretty in love with Andrew Kevin Walker's draft and pretty much want to see that on screen, which I know isn't going to happen.

I have a question need an answer for not to good math wise.

Say Wolfman is 102 min and starts at 1:00 would it end before 3:45 so can see Percy Jackson .

Yeah. with 15-20 mins of trailers, it should be off by three or 2:57 so you should be fine.

HOLY SMOKES! That trailer was off-the-wall! Quite a few new scenes in it.
Once again, I am loving what I am seeing. Some serious superhuman Wolfman action!

Also...
I think I spotted the Sir John werewolf, because this one looks a little wilder and was without a shirt, and I think it was indoors.

What part of the video?

What part of the video?

I think I might be wrong actually. I thought the quick shot of the werewolf at 19-20 seconds in was the other werewolf but I'm pretty sure now it's actually the Lawrence Wolfman. Sorry! :(

It's cool.

Not sure if you guys noticed in this latest interview, I posted a little bit ago, Johnston himself says the movie is 96 minutes. So it looks like we're getting a 1 hour and 36 minute Wolfman movie.
And they're going to put back in all the cut scenes (17 minutes of it) when the extended cut comes to dvd.

Damn...

Sounds like they tightened it up a bit. Which is fine.

It's sounding more and more like it'll play out a lot like the original movie, but with some twists and turns here or there along the way. Which is good.

Its says at my theater its 102 minutes. Anyways has anyone noticed that In the clip as Hopkins closes the door when he is starting to change. When it goes dark Hopkins eyes get bright white or Silver color. Which makes you think Hum i wonder if he's the older werewolf and if so why did he eat or kill his other son.
