Fingers crossed for youtube:csad:

the end of the month so about two weeks away

Its going to be showing on Saturday, 7/26 of the SDCC at 8:30PM. Hulk vs. Wolverine will be showing on Thursday, 7/24 at 4:15.

Yes I was there and I saw the pilot last night. It was the first three episodes and it ran about 67 minutes. The third trailer for the series is essentially the opening for the show.

I'll have more info up later.

It was very good. The animation is incredibly tight and well done. There are lots of characters. The best way to describe it is that its like a combination of X-men from the 90's and X-men Evolution. It's a similar type of style to Evolution, but this is not the same storyline as either series. The characters are full grown adults much like X-men.

Spoilers for episodes 1-3:

Episode 1. Things pretty much start just like the trailer. The team before the break is Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Shadowcat, Iceman, Colossus, Beast, Nightcrawler, Rogue, and Wolverine. The mansion is destroyed. Jean and Professor X are "missing". The mansion is destroyed and the X-men disband and go their separate ways. A year later, the X-men are still disbanded, and the institute mansion is still rubble. Hank stays behind in the labs trying to figure out what happened to Xavier. According to his analysis, Magneto did not do it, but that's all he can figure out. An anti-mutant police force called the MRD are policing mutants in NY and locking them up. Senator Kelly is also trying to put forth a mutant registration act.

After Wolverine helps a family whose daughter was nearly caught in an explosion, he's burned and taken in by them while he's healing. A friend of the family figures out that Wolverine is a mutant and reports it to the MRD. Wolverine escapes, but the family is taken by the MRD. So Wolverine and Beast hijack an MRD truck and rescue the family, and Wolverine incapacitates John Wraith, who looks to be the head of the MRD. Wolverine puts the family in a place to lie low for a while and decides he and Beast need to reform the X-men since the MRD are going too far. That's the first episode.

Episode 2. The Brotherhood which includes Quicksilver, Domino, Blob, and Avalanche, and Toad are terrorizing the city and are going after Senator Kelly. Kelly has enabled a new MRD weapon, a Sentinel Prowler robot that goes after an incognito Rogue at his press conference. Wolverine and Beast stop it, after Angel fails to help Rogue escape. Wolverine asks Angel and Rogue to rejoin them. Angel says he can't since his father supports Senator Kelly even though he knows that Warren is a mutant. Since Angel uses his father's money to help support mutants in secret, if the information went public, he would be cut off. Rogue refuses to rejoin the X-men. She's noticeably angry at Logan who doesn't understand why she's upset. Earlier in the first episode, Wolverine was preparing to take a temporary leave, which Rogue wasn't happy about either since she feels that Logan is her only connection to the institute. It feels like they are trying to hint that Rogue has a thing for Logan, but Logan can't look at her as anything except a friend or a little sister.

Wolverine and Beast search for the other members. Iceman went back to live with his parents. Colossus went back to Russia and refused Beast's invitation to return, not wanting to leave his family. Kitty went missing but is heading to Genosha. Magneto currently rules over Genosha, and there are billboards around advertising it as a safe, protected paradise for mutants. Wolverine and Beast get back Iceman, and then Kitty. Wolverine tries to bring a broken Cyclops back who refuses. Wolverine then taunts Scott who simply blasts him away.

The Brotherhood instead tries to recruit Rogue. Domino is able to talk her into it. The Brotherhood then comes up with a plan to initiate Rogue after they annihilate Senator Kelly's house, and Rogue then absorbs Warren's father to find out where Kelly will be. Rogue then goes to the X-men and says she wants to join them now, and leads them to the press conference to stop the Brotherhood. The Brotherhood sets off an explosion at the press conference and the ceiling starts to collapse. The X-men intervene to help, but the MRD goes after them. They get into a big fight and escape, and Rogue is now nowhere to be found. After Warren saw her leave, Wolverine realizes that Rogue played them and hung them out to dry. Rogue returns successfully to the Brotherhood and it looks like she has thrown her lot in with them for now.

The mansion and institute are being rebuilt with money from Warren. Wolverine doesn't want to talk to Rogue anymore. I think at the end, Emma Frost comes to the school, and she can find Professor Xavier.

Episode 3. Emma Frost wants to join the rebuilding X-men. Wolverine is very suspicious of her since she founded her own school for Mutants in Michigan, but says "she only taught them how to bully people". Emma says she has had a change of heart and wants to be a part of a team for good and can use Cerebro to help find Xavier, and Wolverine thinks she just wants to get her hands on it. But since they need a telepath he allows it. Forge who is now a young man has joined the team as their tech, and has been repairing the danger room, black bird, and cerebro. Emma uses Cerebro and finds Xavier alive in Genosha.

Wolverine goes to Cyclops again and convinces him to come back since they found Xavier. He leads the team of Beast, Emma, Kitty, Cyclops, Forge, and Iceman to Genosha to find the Professor. Wolverine's angry since he believes Xavier in Genosha means that Magneto blew up the mansion and kidnapped Xavier. Beast doesn't think that is necessarily so, but Wolverine wants to rush in guns blazing without trying to contact Magneto. Cyclops asks Emma about Jean, since she Jean was not found in Genosha through Cerebro. Emma plants some tension by implying that she can find Jean, but Wolverine wants her gone ASAP. It looks like she is trying to play Cyclops.

The X-men barely make it into Magneto's island undetected since repairs are being completed on the blackbird as they are flying. They land in Magneto's Citadel which is a huge metal castle. The team splits up to look for Xavier.

Magneto shows up and kicks EVERYONE's ass. He uses Wolverine's metal skeleton against him and tries to force Wolverine's claws into Emma and Beast. Wolverine apologizes and beseeches Magneto to stop which he does at the sight of Wolverine's humility. He shows them the Professor who showed up on his island a week earlier. Emma says Xavier is in a deep coma and has no brain activity. Wolverine asks he be taken back, and Magneto instead tells the X-men they can make Genosha their home. Wolverine refuses, but Magneto leaves the offer on the table. The X-men return back to the mansion with the unconscious Xavier. Soon afterward, they see an astral projection from Xavier, who is speaking to them 20 years later in the future. Xavier says the team disbanded and fell apart, and the future has become a grim and terrible place. He says in order to prepare for what's coming they must remain a team, and Wolverine must lead them. This ticks Cyclops off and he tries to leave, but Xavier says they cannot win without him so Cyclops decides to stay for now.

After Xavier's future image departs, we flash forward and see that it was in fact Xavier from the future. He flees from the ruins of the institute after using Cerebro. And he's walking with bionic leg bracers. He passes by gravestones all located on the mansion's grounds. All of which have the names of the X-men. The future is a burning war ground much like Days of the Future Past and the Sentinels have taken over.

Back in the present, Wolverine says they have to get over their issues and remain united because the world needs the X-men. End of pilot.

The action scenes and fights were very well done, even though Wolverine can't cut anybody up. Dread should be at least happy to know that Colossus was a member of the team at the beginning of the series, but he is currently away from them. The door is at least open for Colossus to come back in.

The only thing I really had a problem with in the series is at the beginning of the first episode. Cyclops and Jean were having a little tiff, and Cyclops is trying to apologize. Jean says she should be apologizing to Logan. Logan walks by and Jean overtly blows Logan a kiss. Total WTF moment. It was just weird for that to happen, and what does that mean with regards to Jean/Wolverine/Cyclops? Just seems like something weird for Jean to do.

What's good about the show is that it addresses the matters of Wolverine not being a leader, since he ****s up A LOT in this show. He messes up by trusting Rogue who frames the X-men for the Brotherhood. He again messes up by being impulsive and rushing into Genosha against Magneto who in that case was not an enemy. Frost taunts his leadership issues. There will hopefully be some good tension between the broken Cyclops and Wolverine about being leader. That is set up.

Tonally its got a darker edge and is more mature than the last two shows even though content wise its not ultra violent or anything.

Hulk is going to appear in episode 7. The show premieres in the US in January. I'm even more excited about the show and it looks great so far. For now its 26 episodes, but there will hopefully be more if its successful.

To boil it down, I think the show is a lot closer to what people probably would've wanted X-men Evolution to be instead of the kids in high school type scenario. The voice cast is great, and everyone really falls into their characters. Wahlgren's Emma and Blum's Wolverine are awesome. Fred Tatasciore does one of the better Beasts in recent memory. Everyone else works really good. I'm very excited about the show right now.

I hate that they are using the evil white human Ultimate crappy version of John Wraith in this series. Once again, the REAL John Wraith is ignored and crapped on by Marvel. It really pisses me off that Marvel has been crapping all over their black characters of African descent over the last 8 years.

I think the idea is that they want to use the current or must updated versions of the characters. He could've been black or a really tan white guy.

Also, I'm not sure how you can say that about Marvel when you look at what they've done with Nicholas Cage. Also Ultimate Nick Fury. You talk about John Wraith who has been a minor character for years and was only used in the ultimate comics once like 6-8 years ago. Big honking deal.

I'll try to DL this when it starts in the UK next month. I avoided reading the spoiler tab, because I like to be surprised. I must say I'm not surprised to hear Colossus is shunted into the guest star tab pretty quickly. I so called it, didn't I?

But I am glad that the rest looks good so far. By the end of episode 13 I expect Wolverine to be a more capable leader by then, but growing pains in the beginning should be good.

What I liked about Evolution wasn't just the teenager thing; it was that, perhaps due to network demands, the writers were forced to write the X-Men as a franchise that, gasp, didn't revolve completely around Wolverine and focused on other characters for large chunks of time. It was the first cartoon where you could say that Cyclops was the main character for the first 3 seasons in many ways, and likely the last.

I'm hesitant about this series, but once I see and like some episodes, I'll get over my concerns. Quality has a way of doing that.

Once again to say he's been shunted this quickly is pretty inappropriate.

The opening of the series also features Storm and Nightcrawler, yet Storm didn't even have a single line in the first three episodes. Nightcrawler was there at the beginning as well. I think this basically means we will still see more of the characters later.

I think its more interesting that we get to see screentime for a lot of new characters. Dust appeared and played a role in these episodes as well. That got a big reaction.

So wtf is the UK showing this next month and we're getting this in January?

F*** Viacom/Whoever decided to wait till January for the US to see this.

*I will be away at school in January anyway so hopefully someone will stream it online. :(

The Ultimate version of Wraith is NOT an update, it's a completely different character. And if they wanted to use the most updated and current versions of the characters then why the hell are both Quicksilver a member of the Brotherhood and Scarlet Witch is on Genoshia hanging out with her father, Magneto?

Making the Ultimate version of a 3rd string MU character like Nick Fury black who's MU version (a) has NEVER been able to sustain/carry his own title for more then 4 years and (b) MOST fans could care less about, doesn't fill my heart with glee or give me confidence in the current Marvel editorial regime. In other words, Marvel made Ultimate Nick Fury black because (a) Nick Fury has never been a very popular character and (b) they would get the LEAST amount of flack for turning a 3rd string character like him black. Notice how they didn't make much more popular characters black in the Ultimate Universe.

The only reason Luke Cage is currently getting so much play over the last few years is because (a) Bendis is a HUGE Cage fan and (b) there's a Luke Cage movie in development.

For the same reason Lorna is hanging out on Genosha with Magneto. This series was planned and ok'ed in late 2005 so the Genosha in the series was intentionally made similar to HoM Genosha.

Someone already answered this.

Geez whatever. He's been a popular and significant enough classic character for years. He's been made a major character in recent storylines. And also in the Ultimate line. Marvel thinks he's popular enough to make a character in the movies, and even get his own series of movies. They made the black Nick Fury a major character in the Ultimate Avengers animated movies as well. You seem to have a double standard here.

The only reason Luke Cage is currently getting so much play over the last few years is because (a) Bendis is a HUGE Cage fan and (b) there's a Luke Cage movie in development.

The Luke Cage movie has been in development hell for 10 years with nothing to show for it. You only say crap like this because it goes against your weak ass argument.

Gee, what a surprise.

Geezus christ what a joke. The point is that Storm will more than likely be brought back in as a regular down the line. Guess its terrible that they make a Jew one of the villains, and a Jew one of the X-men. Marvel's all about holding the minorities down.

Azari, Black Panther's son, is a major character and one of the leads in Next Avengers. Which I will report on later.

HOM was a MINI SERIES, NOT an updated and permanent status quo for the characters.

1. The answer he gave was wrong.

2. I see uou're still missing my whole point.

3. I guess you missed the other part of my post where I said "because Bendis is a HUGE Cage fan".

4. While both Kitty and Magneto (and technically so is Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch) are Jewish, they also happen to be WHITE. In case you haven't noticed, I'm talking about black characters of African descent and NOT white characters of European descent.

5. Despite the fact that BP married Storm (which, IMO, was a stupid/bad idea in the current comics) in the NEXT AVENGERS movie, I think Azari is a positive step in the right direction.

HOM was a MINI SERIES, NOT an updated and permanent status quo for the characters.

House of M was a major Marvel crossover like Civil War and like Secret Invasion. HoM by the way is still selling so well that book stores and libraries asked Marvel for more House of M stories which is why Marvel commissioned Avengers House of M and the upcoming HoM series I just posted the pictured of which will have the HoM take over Genosha and get into a grand civil war with all the human governments.

What the writers did is they took popular storylines and adapted them into their series. HoM controlled Genosha was one of those storylines.

The writers aren't strictly following 616 continuinity, nor should they.

I kinda prefer my Quiksilver evil. i know it's not a continuation, but hearing that Quicksilver, Avalanche, Blob & Toad are still Brotherhood gives me fond Evo flashbacks.

Just because someone is a part of the Brotherhood doesn't make them evil. In the comics Wanda, Pietro, and Lorna all started out serving Magneto's cause, but later changed sides. Of course the Magneto in Lorna's first storyline was retconned a year after the storyline was done into being a robot.

Pietro and Lorna also served Magneto on Genosha in the 616, but eventually broke with him. I suspect Magneto will have no less family difficulties in Wolverine and the X-Men over time as he has had in the 616 (if the series lasts more then two seasons).

1. The answer he gave was wrong.

No it wasn't. When the series began development and production, Quicksilver was not such a heroic character or Avenger. Also from the point of view of the Brotherhood, they are not bad guys, they are simply fighting for the mutant cause in the series. So its a logical path for the character to take.

3. I guess you missed the other part of my post where I said "because Bendis is a HUGE Cage fan".

Good thing Marvel Comics hates black people so much they let Bendis make Cage one of the most important characters in the current marvel universe. You also talked about the other reason being a Luke Cage movie that's been in development hell for 10 years and is not seeing the light of day. Yet Cage has remained a highly utilized character.

4. While both Kitty and Magneto (and technically so is Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch) are Jewish, they also happen to be WHITE. In case you haven't noticed, I'm talking about black characters of African descent and NOT white characters of European descent.

So you are saying Marvel only hates blacks?

5. Despite the fact that BP married Storm (which, IMO, was a stupid/bad idea in the current comics) in the NEXT AVENGERS movie, I think Azari is a positive step in the right direction.

I'm not a fan of the pairing. But Azari is an original character created by Marvel for a new animated movie that's being made for kids. So if you give them credit for that you should lighten up.

However as for Black Panther/Storm, we unfortunately live in a time where for Hollywood its taboo to pair up a black male and female in any major form of media unless its a Tyler Perry flick. So for that it kind of makes sense.
