Wolverine and the X-Men

hey guys, i was watching Jetix just a sec ago and i saw a promo for wolverine and the x-men. it starts this sunday at 11:00 am, it's gonna be a 2 hour special. i hope i get to see it.
btw, im in Mexico.

Slim, you got my hopes up for me in the states. Only if I payed attention to Spanish in high school.

Wow, even the Mexicans are getting this show before us :( .

No offense Mexico ;) .

Wow, do the x-men actually travel to the future in episode 9?

No no, Xavier contacts with Logan, again, and then we see Charles in the future with some known mutants, one already seen in the series and the rest all new.

Blink? Blink?! Blink?!?!?!?!

I'm not sure, usag.

I don't know all the x-men comics characters.

I've seen the ep. 10 too, too many cameos, hahaha.

i watched the first episode last night and i was surprised how many mutant cameos we already got (well Canada got....have to wait til 2009 in the US): Boom Boom, Pyro, even [BLACKOUT]Rockslide[/BLACKOUT] and [BLACKOUT]Dust[/BLACKOUT]!

Actually I saw a trailer on marvel.com, and I saw Cyclops, Kitty Pride, Beast, Emma Frost (The White Queen), Nightcrawler, Iceman, Angel, Wolverine or course and I saw Storm.

I hope its not gonna be all about Wolverine, I mean the weapon x Wolverine thing has been explored quite a bit, and not to mention the Wolverine movie thats coming out soon. I would like for an animated series to go into more depth with some of the other characters. I would like to see Storm, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and Nightcrawler explored.

Polaris finally shows up in episode 13 and suprise she is with the Brotherhood and Magneto, Wikipedia had it wrong again, that said they do catch up quite quick as they already changed Lorna's status again.

The episode ends with a montage of Kelly and Magneto declaring war on one another with speeches (in Washington and Genosha, respectively).

well from watching the first episode, Wolverine is the star.

I've just seen ep. 12.

Guys, you'll all love this episode, and more the Cyclops fans.

This is THE CYCLOPS Episode. He is the star and is well treated...

I can't say more.

Ep 12 already :(

Can you please tell us if Sinister is appearing? Is that a rumor or true? If he does how is he portrayed? We already saw Vertigo in the trailer so I guess Marauders are there. If he does, what do you think, will he appear more later on or he had just a cameo?
Thanks in advance. :cwink:

It's not all about Wolverine. Despite the title of the show, the other X-Men characters are prominently featured and some have gotten spotlight episodes (with very LITTLE Wolverine in them) that MOSTLY focus on them. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that the other X-Men come off as a lot more cooler and interesting then Wolverine in this show, despite him being the "star" and main focus of this show. IMO, this show is proof that making Wolverine the leader of the X-Men makes him less interesting.

In any event, that's good for the whiners and complainers of the show that don't want to give this show a chance, but will like and enjoy this show.

It weird seeing a role reversal of Cyclops and Wolverine. I like badass take of Scott

Go to the CBR forums thread on this to see images of Sinister and the other Marauders. Lots of spoiler images as well.

Greg Johnson, the head writer of the series seems a little upset that so much is out there for the show right now:

Hey folks. Wow, this is an active board. Just a little cautionary note from the head writer of the series. I see that many of you are reading hastily-cobbled together episode summaries to satisfy your curiosities. But in doing so, you're robbing yourselves of a pretty unique X-Men experience. How often does an X-Men show come along that has enough story continuity and surprise guest stars to truly engage you? I believe this series can, and trust me when I say that the unfolding of the plot and the calculated reveals we’ve put in place have been very carefully woven together so that when the three part finale finally does come, it’ll be a memorable event. So I have to ask, why, as X-Men fans, would you want to rob yourself of that?

I understand Mr. Johnson's concerns. But the thing is, this is the day and age in which we live. Because of all the sites, technology, and information out there all of this is automatically going to get out there before it airs and before it's received the way Marvel wants us to watch it the first time on TV on Nicktoons.

No matter what, no matter how many links are taken down it's out there. Once one person has it on their hard drive, it stays there. People are seeing it. We are discussing it. You can't really just stop or censor that on the internet.

Jon Favreau is a person who doesn't get upset by this, his strategy is that this gets us excited so use it to their advantage, or show it in a way so its them actually showing it instead of seeing blurry footage.

The thing is though, virtually 90% of the feedback or more of the show so far has been overwhelmingly positive..

Now, ultimately I think Marvel could've taken greater control over when the show is aired. Though I'm not sure how much power or say they get in that. I definitely feel it's a little too long for the series to air in the states in 2009 when it's already airing in Canada. I get that it's a good time to debut the show right before the Wolverine movie comes out. But I mean, the show is out there, people are already watching it online and talking about it now. Most of the series will be done on Canada's YTV before it debuts in the states. But that's another chunk of a North American viewing audience. One wonders why the show doesn't get to debut here first.

The other concern is that this is showing on Nicktoons and not Nickelodeon. So we don't really know how the show will do. I think the show will be an undoubted success, and hopefully the marketing is good. But is it really the fault of the fans that Jetix Brazil is already on episode 14, and fans just get excited about it and want to talk about it, and fans ask for spoilers?

Honestly, I don't think spoilers truly kill the interest for anything, unless they are bad spoilers. The feedback I've seen for all the spoilers for this show so far all just gets fans very excited. A lot of fans were very cautious to get into this show because Wolverine is the title and is labeled as the star. But now that people get to hear more about it, they are much more excited to see it in action.

Here would be my idea for the series. Do a big event for the pilot. Air the first three parts in prime time, make a big deal out of it. So now everyone's seen the pilot early. Use that as the warm-up for the series before it debuts in January. You know, throw the fans a bone. It could also be a good measuring stick for how well the show might do in the states.

Another thing that Johnson should know is that the British fans were left high and dry by the BBC in August. It was set to debut then, and then BBC gave them nothing. They won't even give an update on the show on when it is set to air. So what should angry fans do about that?

Nope. Set to premiere on Nicktoons in January of 09.

It's showing in all of North America except the US though. Also showing in Latin America.

Great Post Vile, I agree with you especially in the "new information age" where anything can be leaked, regardless of precautions. I respect Greg Johnson but I have to question how achievable is his goal? I say a good show is a good show and spoilers will not ruin it for me at least

I don't understand what the heck the US market is doing...or who/what is behind this moronic mistakes.

Holding the series until January is ridiculous if it's already airing in Canada and Mexico (not to mention that it's even further along in Latin countries). It's only going to hurt the numbers.

And Nicktoons? I mean, really? This series screams "Cartoon Network", and it's so 'older-oriented' that you could air it right before their famous Adult Swim block and have really good numbers.

Sigh. Guess it doesn't matter to me. I'm watching it now and that's all that matters. EXCEPT when/if the numbers aren't good enough for them to renew the show for another season! How long did F4 last?

FF didn't last very long. It was moved around a lot and I don't think the entire series even finished airing on CN.

That might have something to do with why Marvel doesn't want to do shows with them anymore.
