Wolverine filming update/news.

this movie is seriously one of the few things i look forward to within the next couple of years...I hope nothing f***s it up.

Richard Donner as a consultant? I don't mind that one bit.

As for the whole Gavid Hood likes the dark side decision -- I'd like the film to be especially dark, or as dark as you can be for the PG-13 rating.

Could this fit in with the story of producer Jeff Katz being needed on set in Australia (see post #260)? Who is Jeff Katz?

ETA: Jeff Katz is a comic book writer but he's also a C20th Fox exec - "resident fanboy executive at 20th Century Fox", according to ComicBookResources.

UPDATE (8:25pm): Fox has come back with a response. Richard Donner is on-set but the 'consultant' information is incorrect. Donner apparently has been on-set for brief periods on the previous "X-Men" films as well - mainly helping out in an unofficial capacity out and spending time with his wife Lauren who is producing.

Fox also re-iterates that in no way is Gavin Hood being replaced or usurped by anyone, this is very much his movie.

Thank goodness for that.

I still won't be shocked if the part about Fox wanting a lighter movie is true though. Hopefully they can find a middle-ground, because I'm sure those discussions have come into play at some point.

Cameos from real life poker players sounds really stupid to me.

Jeff is a cool Kat. He's still in Syndey right now. I'm concerned about his facebook wrestling technique right now though. He he he.

BTW I'm pretty sure he's been involved since day 1.

Yea me too...all we need is people who can't act. But oh well, they aren't famous enough to ruin the movie or for most people to take notice.

I know this won't be rated R and I don't have to have limbs being ripped off and blood every where, I told you to sit down Quentin, anyways...this better have a lot of stabbing and death.

I don't know if that's enough to make it a good movie but I hope it will be better than X 1-2-3.

It has potential, so we'll see.

This movie should be darker than the darkest corners of Africa.

Yeah, like who cares? Really?

The audience will stand and applause when they see real life poker players. It will be a wordwide phenomenon. :o

...and according to the early script reports, the script leaves things open for sequels.

I wonder how much Wolverine Hugh's got left in him?
Well, he isn't getting any younger. I suppose it all hinges on how wrinkly Jackman gets over the coarse of the next few years.

Part of being a great poker player is acting. It won't be that bad, anyone who can bluff with 1 million dollars sitting on the table can pull off a line or two.

It is easier to sit there with no expression than to blurt out a couple of lines without it being corny or bad.

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE

2009 Hugh Jackman reprises his role as Logan, the mutant who eventually becomes Wolverine and a member of the X-Men as he seeks revenge against Victor Creed for the death of his girlfriend. Origins allows us to look back at the beginnings of Wolverine and the shadowy Mutant X program, and features the appearances of fan-favorites Gambit and Deadpool for the first time in the X-Men movie canon. Directed by Gavin Hood and distributed by 20th Century Fox.

I know it's been debunked, but I can't help it but to feel bummed out nevertheless. Only because it's sounds like something Fox WOULD do: micromanaging.

It did sound worrying. But I don't think anyone sane at Fox would want another X3 scenario in which Singer left, Vaughn walked and the first cinematographer Rousselot also quit.

The problem is the idea that 'family movies' get more butts on seats than movies aimed just at adults. Hopefully parents could dump their brats at Hannah Montana and then see Wolverine!

I think making Wolverine too light and too comicbooky could be risky, yet surely it's not expected for it to be horrific like the SAW movies.

What kinds of movies do people think have the kind of tone that should be used in Wolverine?

Maybe a tone like Daredevil...but with more of an 'adventure' feel to it? That was pretty dark at times, but had some comic relief with a couple characters.

In so far as Fox superhero movies, no lighter than the tone of X-Men or X2. That means, no short term nods to YouTube humor, no “Grow those back” lines during battle, or anything too kitschy... something more along the lines of Batman Begins or The Bourne movies.

fox turn up trumps again i see
