I've always thought Wolverine was great, but one part of his costume most just sucks: His mask.

And here's why: The sides of it that come to a point WAY off of his head. They look stupid and silly, honestly. Batman's mask was made in a live movie form and looked fine, Wolverine in the movies has NO mask. Why? Cuz it would look stupid.

Now, a little ways back in Astonishing X-men they made the mask not suck, by having the sides stuck right to the sides of his head, flat. It looked a lot the same, but could be taken seriously. But now they've had them sticking WAY out again. WHY?!!?

Below I've posted graphic evidence. First, his mask ridiculous and sucking.

Woops, let's try that again.

First, his silly looking winged type mask style

Second, the newer design without the sucking (that could be made into a movie design if they ever desired).

Last, the reason they don't make the mask in the live action movies. Cuz then wolverine would look something like...

Right, so... big fins on the mask suck and slightly smaller fins on the mask don't. Got it.

;)

well he originally had these fins

Personally, I never saw any further need for a mask on Wolverine once they revealed that his hair is stuck in exactly the same shape.

LOL @ Wolverine's stupid hair and costume!

Oh c'mon, there's clearly a difference. A small difference can make a huge effect, it's like saying there's no difference between current jeans and 70s bellbottoms.
If you disagree feel free to wear the bellbottoms though.

No, the hair is awesome. The mask is ridiculous. Just get rid of it altogether and have Wolverine go bare-faced. Who's he trying to protect with his mask? His only family is either evil or the X-Men.

So ie some artist draw the mask well while other go overboard. Wolverine design suffers from that. Theyll either give him swords for claws or make him a tank as big as the hulk. The short mask can work in the movies. Simply put why add a mask when your identity isnt important(You would think wolverine may actually want to be recognized)

Even with the mask, it's sort of impossible to miss Wolverine. How many 5'3" dudes with three claws coming out the back of their hands can there be? Even Daken, who's actually trying to impersonate Logan now, couldn't be mistaken for him.

Good point.

Yeah he never needed a mask. But I do agree that the smaller/pointed backwards as opposed to sideways fin/wing things works much better.

His hair is ridiculous no matter how you look at it though.

Ridiculously awesome, maybe. :o

Although, I'm glad they stopped drawing Beast's hair the same way. There's only room for one person with that hairstyle.

LOL! I remember thinking it was funny that TWO people had that hair as a kid during the 90s.

I remember wondering why Wolverine had it first when it actually sort of makes sense on Beast. His whole body got mutated, after all. What's Wolverine's excuse? He tripped and fell into a vat of really long-lasting hair gel when he was a kid?

I love how his right claws seem to be partially coming out of the side of his wrist instead of the top. :p

well originally the claws were part of the gloves and not part of his body

"Oddly, Wolverine was not shown unmasked in his initial appearences. Moreover, his cocreator Len Wein intended Wolverine to be a teenager! Speculating on what Wolverine looked like beneath his mask, John Byrne drew this sketch."
