Wonder Woman Thread Reborn!

I didnt mean she's not attractive because yes she's hot she has the model thing going for her but does that really make her right for the role? I mean for god sake i right now can pull off about 10 different accents does that mean im a good actor i dont think so. Im not a WW fanboy by any means, i just think the character hardly gets any respect outside of the comic book genre. If you wanna make WW look good, especially in a series you would think they would cast someone with much more experience and not some hot model that thinks she can act because she can do a few accents, i think that alone makes the WW character look pretty bad. You would think that this tv series if anything would be a launching pad for the WW character to be adapted on the big screen. By what we know already this thing is going to flop, they have the ally mcbeal producer behind it and now a straight up model is attached to play WW? Really, they should be looking into actresses first and for most, women that can act first. If they cant find a actual actress for the series then scrap it completely, why damage the character's rep when studios are already skeptic about the character, it'll just damage the already slim chances of seeing a WW film anytime soon.

You saw the screen tests that were posted on this thread. Are you trying to say that she can't act?

This is the trailer to "Death Race 2" Which stars Tanit as the leading lady alongside Sean Bean, Ving Rames, and Danny Trejo.

Were you seeing what i was seeing? There was nothing in those "screen tests" to brag that the girl can act, it showed absolutely nothing and ive seen the movies/tv series she's been in which isnt alot, i think she's been in two flicks and none of her roles are even a big deal it seems she just gets casted as a filler as if they were looking for some hot chick which i think she might even be credited as, the hot chick. Atleast the other candidates especially the popular top 2 (jaimie alexander, bridget regan) have proved and played a strong woman even though i think Jaimie Alexander gives off the most WW kick ass vibe out of them all. Hopefully this tv series gets the can before it can even get started.

I just thought "somewhat attractive" was a little derisive.

I don´t think she´s necessarily the best for the role, I haven´t seen her acting yet, but in some pics she bares an uncanny resemblance to WW, she looks like a woman, not like a teen magazine cover, she´s tall and ahd appears to be in pretty good physical shape, for chick standards.

As for her acting, she´s just been cast in a new HBO series. It doesn´t necessarily prove anything, but they have a pretty good casting record. It´s not like she´s like one of those models or singers people sometimes suggest here, who haven´t acted a day of their lives.

As for lack of experience, Chris Reeve had little experience when he was cast as Superman, Hugh Jackman wasn´t that experienced when he was cast as Wolverine.

Yes, and she can act. Just recently she booked a leading female role in a Universal Pictures film (Death Race 2) and another leading role in a cable TV series (Femme Fatales). This is after practically coming out of nowhere. That's telling me that she can act.

Why are you taking this rumor as fact? We don't even know if Kelley has even put together an outline let alone casting.

Nobody has denied it, one, and the stories coming out about Phoenix differs from those reports of actresses expressing interest in the role, two. They say she actually spoke with key members of the production team, and some of them are already big fans. Nobody is really saying that she's got the role but she more than likely will be on the short list of candidates.

I don't know about Death Race 2, but as I pointed out, she's just the narrarator in the HBO series.

Why would anyone deny it? The WB/Kelley probably don't care, and Phoenix said she wanted the role in the moviehole interview.

Whether or not she spoke to anyone isn't confirmed. How many people are rumored in flicks before we find out they never even met the studio? If the WB wants you to know they like an actor, they'll let the press know. The same way the WB was behind Blake Lively's performance in the Town and that got her the lead in GL.

She may very well be on the list, but it'll probably be a few weeks considering pilot season doesn't start til January.

Which requres a level of acting (they are not recruiting just any old narator for that you know). It's a lead role and that's got to say something.

I'm sorry, but until someone denies it, I have to go with the reports that are out there on the web. There is no valid reason to belive otherwise.

If they end up using the blonde version of Hippolyta, how about Helen Slater in the role?

Which of her performances is your favorite?

I don't if I've ever seen her perform, per se. A casting director doesn't count as an audience, does it? Long story short: The Milla/French Girl audition, and I was wrong anyway, as Taylor Cole has been shown to be a skilled actress as well.

Why does that feel not true? I'm pretty sure Cole has the most bit film roles.

Most screen time, yes. Most bit TV roles, most assuredly. The sentence is true only because I put the word 'film' in there. The fact that Tanit doesn't do TV almost suggests she won't go for Wondy.

I would love to get in a quote war with you, but when you put screen tests in quotation marks, as though somehow these auditions were not just that, I'm wondering if we can agree on even obvious truths.

In General:

Being able to do subtle facial expressions and act against nothing, with little experience shows a great deal of talent. Being able to do multiple accents, multiple *types* of people (say a tortured french bad girl and a silly ditzy valley girl) shows a great deal of range. That's not just a pretty face. That's an up and coming actress. It's just that simple. Regan and Alexander on the other hand, have shown very limited range, and moderate talent. I'm especially suspicious of Regan's talent, as her career seems relatively stagnant for the last two years, though Alexander's tough, emotionally reserved bad girls are great for 80s action movies, there's no sign of Alexander being able to play a well rounded character like Diana.

Let this idea that Tanit's 'just a pretty face' go to the birds. We can argue about 'how' talented she is, but the idea that she is not talented is approaching comedic. Does anyone have a problem with hiring a talented inexperienced actress? Y'know, the kind that do good jobs for cheap and grow exponentially under your employ? And she looks a LOT like Diana. Honestly.

She's not perfect, but she's the best casting I've heard so far, especially for a TV series that can't afford an experienced actress. The only experienced actress you can get who does TV that even halfway fits the profile is Eliza Dushku, and none of us want that do we?

All of these castings, *especially* Regan, are speculation. At least for Tanit, someone, somewhere ran a story on it, so it's not utterly baseless. That said, if we're only discussing actresses from credible sources:

/thread.

I actually like those drawings, Neodrone. Let's face it guys... a modern live action adaptation of the character is not going to wear a costume that's practically a bikini while fighting criminals.

So would you rather have a costume that's close to the tradition ones with redesign for a more covering suit or one like the redesign with the jacket and leather pants?

I personally prefer something atleast resembles a small part of her traditional costume, because I'm telling you right now... we will never see this on a live action modern character:

I like to think of it as a nod to the classic look but done more as warrior garb. She's more covered up, has strong superhero colors that will look great along supes and bats... and no stupid jacket or choker..

Honestly, I just wished the comic and any other medium version of Wonder Woman just had a costume similar to the normal one, but just far more military looking and practical. I really hate the swimsuit that makes no sense for the character. Ditch the swimsuit and replace it with a military style skirt, and ditch those freaking high heels for proper boots. And probably actually replace the "look-at-my-boobs" window with an extension of the armour.

Of course, when I say military, I mean fitting in with the time and style of Themiscira and its Greek origins, not modern military.

Like this I mean:
