Worst MCU movie?

I don't mind the twist as much as some but I honestly think if you took it out the movie would be better for it.

I didn't mind it much either, but I wanted more videos of the initial Mandarin because they were awesome.

For me their 'worst' movie is still Iron Man 2. Fun movie with some great scenes,but on the whole I still find it the weakest link of the franchise. Drags a lot in the middle,Whiplash seems to disappear as a character at some point,Black Widow and War Machine are a little underused and the final Whiplash battle ends in the blink of an eye.

Same, but it's still pretty enjoyable.

Marvel Studios should realize that there are always fans for whom a particular character is the primary reason they're buying a ticket. Given that Mandarin was nearly 50 years old when IM3 came out (not to mention he's often considered Tony's greatest nemesis), it stands to reason that there were a lot of people who waited years or decades to see the IM vs Mandarin showdown.

You might want to look up his non-print appearances before you assume that the character had only a small group of pre-existing fans. Mandarin was key villain in the 90s IM cartoon ( that was a shared universe with the Spider-man and Hulk 'toons), appeared on IM: Armored Aventures and in the DVD film. These versions were all somewhat different, but they were all better than a powerless actor. I'm sure fans of those versions, not the mention the IM comic readers, walked away from the IM3 version of Mandarin looking like this:

But Killian was the Mandarin. He was obsessed with legends, was a smart engeneer and scientist and was able to karate chop Iron Man's armors. That actualy had more to do with the original Mandarin than just an anarchist terrorist (of the same type that has been seen in blockbuster films since The Dark Knight). So what was that clsoe to comics mandarin in the version that was shown in the trailers? Not much realy.

Suddenly there were all of these fans of the Mandarin, but the fact is that Killian actualy had more similarities with that character than what the trailers sold. The more acurate criticism comes from those who say they weren't fans of the original Mandarin but were excited for the version that was shown in the trailers.

There were more fans of the Mandarin because there were fans like me who saw his easter eggs in the previous films and decided to learn more about the character. Instead we didn't get the character we read about and the connections to the other films were barely mentioned.

Iron Man 3 grew on me after repeat viewings.

I'd put the House Party Protocol as one of the better action sequences of the MCU universe.

I'm no great fan of The Mandarin in the comics, at all really. I didn't like the twist because it was poorly executed imo, and swapped out a mysterious, genuinely creepy and menacing villain, for a far less interesting or menacing one with poor motivations and who was basically just the same villain that we'd gotten in the other films (but with a different coat of paint).

Oh and it basically ignores the previous films almost completely (SHIELD was VERY interested in the Ten Rings in IM, and this guy is apparently their leader. And yet SHIELD is nowhere to be found here. Heck TONY never really brings up the fact that this guy is leading the group that held him captive for six months and killed Yinsen, nor does that seem to have any effect on him at all). I wonder if Shane Black even bothered to watch the first two films at all, or if he was just too concerned with being "cute and clever?"

But my personal worst is Thor: TDW. It's got some good effects, some cool action, the Thor/Loki (or just Loki in general) stuff was entertaining, and most of the acting was decent. There were some genuinely amusing moments.

-But it ultimately had a paper thin script (that was just an excuse to string together a bunch of action scenes).

-The "love story" is even worse here than in the first film (at least in that one, Hemsworth and Portman had some decent chemistry, which is GONE here).

-The Asgardian cast is again underused/underdeveloped (I gave it a pass in film #1 because it was a set up film that had to introduce all of the weird stuff to the audience, but that excuse doesn't apply here). Oh but of course the Jane Foster comedy squad can get more screentime. Heaven forbid that we see less of them in a THOR movie.

-Forced gags and comic relief (you have like 4 comic relief characters already. Did you REALLY have to turn Selvig, whom I really liked in his other films, into another one to, seriously)? Plus it often wasn't integrated well into the narrative.

-A dreadfully dull and boring villain (how dare you waste Christopher Eccleston like that Marvel? For shame) with a generic "destroy everything plot" that I couldn't care less about. At least Ronan in GOTG was somewhat entertaining in how "theatrical" he was.

-I didn't really like Odin's characterization.

-Etc.

Such a disappointment for me, and a big waste of potential (which may be the worst part). Hopefully Ragnarok fixes things (Thor deserves at least one genuinely great film, which both IM and Cap already got).

I am a Mandarin fab and was before the movie came out but the above is so spot on. I lost out on a faithful Mandarin to get a poor villain in his place. And I am a Guy Pearce fan as well. The twist wasn't needed and asnt executed well either. Its what make me dislike the movie more and more on repeat viewings.

Iron Man was not an icon until the movies made him one. Before that he was a character who maybe some people remembered from a short-lived TV show and the Marvel vs. Capcom fighting games. Mandarin was even less so.

Iron Man 3 was great, haters be damned

for me it's a toss-up between IM2 and Incredible Hulk, they were both just very weak with misused cast members and uninteresting villains (outside of Hammer) but IM2 takes it because it was such a disappointing follow-up

Thor:TDW was the same way, but wasn't quite as bad as IM2

And Ant-man felt weak at first, but repeat viewings have improved my opinion considerably
