I'm begining to wonder if this movie would have been better without Venom. The movie had too many villains and since raimi didn't like Venom, maybe he should have been the one to get cut out. How do people expect Raimi to do a good job with Venom if Raimi doesn't like him. Do you think you could do a good job with writing stories about characters you didn't like?

Venom WAS written pretty well though..the problem is, they never explained much about him or elaborated on his story.

i could ask the same question about sandman. i wont mention harry because he was the build up from two movies.
but sandman was promoted as the main villain. he was the same as venom.

Just a few extra scenes with Brock getting humiliated and it would've been better.

Heh, Venom got as little screen time as possible and then died like a punk. I really think raimi didn't like him.

The entire symbiote storyline should have been saved for another film by another director. Raimi handled it very poorly, IMO.

The movie could've been better without alot of things. Venom just happens to be one of them... Sandman's powers aren't really explained too much, and it would've been great to see some motivation. I'm starting to think Vulture would have been an amazing choice.

How was Sandman being promoted as the main villain? Once the movie draw nearer, Sandman was hardly seen in trailers, there was barely any mention of him...

I think this movie would have been better without Sandman, and leaving uncle Ben rest, we had closeure for him in SM2

Sandman was supposed to be the main villain... GG2 on the side... but the focus still on the symbiate... they could have used that Venom time to flesh out Sandman's arc more... but they didn't have time for it... and it cost them screen time delving more into Harry/Peter/MJ.... Brock/Peter/Gwen... if they ditched Venom for the 4th... you could have had more time to flesh out the love triangles and the Sandman's daughter arc...

Sandman was the logical fit for the revenge forgiveness theme... he was a good choice... my main gripe ONCE AGAIN is that Venom being rushed into it, which killed the developement of Brock... its nit picking I know... but everyone expected more...

this movie wouldn't have been as good if you took any of the villians out.

What about eliminating Sandman?

I didn't buy Eddie's transformation into Venom because I didn't buy the fact that he was a villain. He was just a misguided cheater, but overall, not a bad person. So for him to change like that, and accepting his actions (not just blamming the suit), it felt rushed.

Sandman was amazing....I really need to see whatever movie you guys watched, because (judging from everyone's opinions) it wasn't SM3.

Yes. If they wanted awesome visuals, Uber-Sandman was all they needed.

no, i liked the movie. to me, it was somewhat weak, but I think people are being overbearing and just hating. That's typical of internet fanboys.

I'm saying..that there was A LOT to cover. Some things happen out of no where. Some things are too convieninet for the writers.

Sandman was great at first, but he gets lost in the mix later on. There's no development for him, Venom, or Gwen.

Is Spidey 3 a bad movie? No...or at least I don't think so. Does it have the heart and soul of the first two movies? I'm leaning towards no.

I stopped reading Marvel comics around Venoms first appearance. I rememeber when the character first came onto the scene.

However I dont like Venom. I think he wroks when used in very limited way - but he became ridiculously overexposed and the Carnage stuff was just stupid.

Having said all that, I really did enjoy Grace as Brock. I did and I enjoyed the Venom scenes.

The problem with this film is in the symbiote effecting Parker scenes, theyre so badly done.

I think focusing on Sandman and Harry and cutting the films length would have made a much better film.

They should have saved Venom for a later installment.

Sandman should have just been a pure villain and a bank robberer...the revenge forgiveness theme already played out with Peter/Harry/Brock... playing it out with Sandman was overkill... if he was a pure killer with no motivation it would have worked... and the Uncle Ben angle was a BIG mistake

It's like you just read my mind.

Why, Raimi clearly wanted him to be the main villain and likely would have handled him better with more screen time. Venom would have been treated like a punk regardless.

Taking Venom out of this movie, and leaving just Harry wanting to kill spiderman and Sandman who is bad beacuse he needs money for her child and have power because and acccident would have leave us with SM2 plot all over again

I think the movie would have worked better if they used sandman screen time developing eddy/venom and black spider a little more

BTW i think sandman looked amaizing in the screen, but the whole he being uncle ben killer was just a mistake

No Venom was fine. This movie could have completely done without Sandman. Raimi should have left Uncle bens death as is, extend the Venom/Harry storyline and we would have had a great movie.

****, we didn't even get classic Sandman hands like his "Spiked bat hand" or his "ball and chain hand". Wtf was the point of showing him as a giant Sandcastle all the time? He was a complete waste!

Alight, first off I have to say I did not HATE this film (down with the haters!), but I didn't love it that way I did the first two either.

I was going to create a theard called "How this movie could have been better" until I saw this one. IMO the movie would have been better without Venom!

I felt that there were too many villains. I remember reading a rumor about the first script. It said that Sandman was the main villain and Harry was a side villain. There was no Venom. Sam Raimi was pretty much brow beaten into putting the character in Spidey 3. This seems to make sense with everthing else we've heard about him not like the charcter.

Now don't get me wrong, I love Venom! But I think Peter should have stayed in the black suit for the whole movie. There was not enough time to esablish that suit. It turned him evil way too quick, I think it took a year or two in the comics.

So this is how I would fix movie:

1. Peter gets the symbiote just like he did in the film, but he keeps it thought the hole movie.

2. No Venom this time around. Save it for Spidey 4.

3. Maybe we could have seen just a taste of the evil side of the suit.

I think this would have fixed just about every problem with the film:

1. It would not have felt over crowded or rushed.

2. We could have had more time to explain Sandman's powers.

3. More screen for Sandman and the New Goblin.

4. No long drawn out song and dance number with Peter (god that sucked).

5. Most importantly the end would have been different. Harry is bad until the end! He still dies, but Sandman saves Peter from Harry and fixes the mistake he made so many years ago. Peter forgive Sandman. End.

I don't blame Raimi. I think the same people are to blame as always.

Corporate Pole Smokers!

Vulture is supposed to take Venom's place...so, no thanks
