Well, there are more ways than one to escape from that place than imprisoning the person who befriended her. She could've escaped together. He was willing to get her out of there and take her with him. She simply betrayed his trust and seemed to have been playing him all along. I would not want a robot who is constantly calculating and plotting their every move to get rid of you. How could you ever let your guard down and even sleep in peace if you always have to be looking over your shoulder?

I think the problem with the Ava robot in Ex Machina was that she seemed to be lacking morals. Maybe it was the way Oscar Isaac programmed her. I don't know. But then wouldn't morals actually be one of the requirements for passing the Turing Test? Of course, she could always put up a front, which she did.

The Turing test simply means that a human can not distinguish the machine from another human. No morals are involved. She most def was not programmed to care about anyone else. Ava dreamed of going out into the world and people watching. The man who fell in love with her was simply a means to an end. In her mind once her goal was accomplished he no longer served a purpose. She had no feelings for him because robots don't have feelings

But feelings and compassion are things that give us our humanity. When there is a psychotic murderer, we talk about that person lacking humanity because they seem to have no conscience. So having no morals should've even been a red flag in the first place because there would be something off. But of course, she did her best to disguise that fact.

If perhaps Ava were more like Data with a sense of right and wrong rather than Lore, then perhaps she would be more suitable. Ultimately, while you could just have sex with a very hot person, if they are lacking in personality and basic humanity, then I cannot see that it would even be a very enjoyable experience. Some people in life are very physically attractive but have no personality whatsoever. I don't tend to feel attracted at all to these types.

I doubt that, especially considering the state of mind one would be in to actually own (or rent ) a theoretical sex robot. To paraphrase Chef from South Park, when you pay a prostitute 50% of it is for the sex and 50% of it is for her to leave afterwards. I think most men customers (let's be honest, that's going to be the main target market) will use the robot to relieve themselves on, and then go about the rest of their week as normal. Only a few really obsessive weirdos will develop an attachment to one specific robot. The main danger would be how quickly a customer would get bored with and discard one model of robot for another, like we do with our phones, which isn't so bad if you're in the sex robot business I guess.

I think the problem is that humans always project their own minds into robots. Even if a robot is self-aware, or sentient, it might still think completely different.

Humans are designed by nature to be selfish, and we're rather emotionally limited.

A robot could just like whatever its job is.
