Allright, I have thought about this for a while as I was willing to come out to Chicago (i'm in Normal, IL and it would be a two hour train ride) but since you guys need more Oracles I'll be happy to do that.

Less expense for me anyway...

Thank you VERY much, Zortt! We appreciate it.

No problem my friends. As I said I figured I would be doing you guys a major solid if I was a computer guy, feel free to IM me sometime before then and I'll give you guys my cell #.

Thanks for taking one for the team.

remember, oracles need some swaggin' every now and again :)

I think the Chicago and Toronto locations are the closest for me (Detroit area), so I'd be more than happy to help with the online stuff. :cwink:

Let me know and I can share cell phone info.

Hey guys, I will try to be one oracle and i got two buddies of mine who are willing to be goons as well

Thank you Tennim! That will be a tremendous help, we'll get in touch with you via PM with details before monday :yay:

Ok. QUESTION, ladies and gents.

I think it'd be good to form a SHH board-member Chicago team for this challenge. I think if we have a few online contacts (in case something happens to one, etc) and we all work together, we can rock the challenge.

So! Would you all be:

A) Interested in forming a team
B) Helping to locate a few online contacts (some are lined up, tons have volunteered)
C) Be willing to wear Joker makeup (I've talked to a few people coming, and they're all for it to distinguish ourselves as SHH members)
D) Be willing to wear a "Hi, My Name Is..." nametag with your SHH board name on it
E) Help me come up with other ideas??

:D

i am down for thugging it out.

so let me get this straight...

a large group of us are meeting near navy pier around 4-4:30,

we will be in contact with those online who will help guide us through the puzzles.

the final prize is a showing of the new trailer?

i cant seem to find any info from the actual virals so how did we find out the times and such?

thanks. i will definately try to be there and i will be bringing my 10 year old son along as a hostage.

Hey guys so at this point where would you want me as a goon or an oracle?

Well we need more oracles but if you live in Chicago I'm sure you'd have more fun being out there. Ultimately it's your call, but you'd be more useful as an oracle at the moment.

I would love to participate as a goon, but I don't have a form of transportation to get downtown on monday. I can Oracle if I'm needed!

Then I'll Oracle. No big deal. I already have a Joker dollar from Comic-Con last year, that's enough.

All right, I'm going to make an Oracle thread. Honestly my inclination is to use the Speakeasy because everyone can access it and anyone can get in, even if they don't have an invite, but Andrizzle (I think) pointed out with something else and it's true of this, you can't scroll up to see something you've missed. Nevertheless I'm still thinking that there'll be too much chaos to scroll up because it seems like we're going to have to be very in the now, and if we end up going back to find something we'll miss what's going on in the present.

Anyway, I'll bring this up in the Oracle thread, but I'm putting it here first.

I think the ability to scroll up is going to be pretty necessary because as you said it's going to be pretty chaotic and we won't have long to read something before it has gone past. I also think starting another thread might be a bit much because each city is going to have a separate group of oracles aren't they? If thats the case then these forums are going to get a little over flooded with threads about this event.

No, I've made a universal thread. I think honestly it would be better to pool the Oracles in one spot--I don't think we're pitting ourselves against other Hypesters so much as forming a team of Hypesters against the world.

And scrolling up is going to be mildly impossible. I mean if you have to scroll up much further than a few lines, you will be lost by the time you go back. You can see some level of back-scrolling in the Speakeasy, but not so far. I think this works because, like I said, if you spend too much time dwelling on the above you will not be in sync with the current.

My only thought was that each city is going to have different puzzles that are designed for that city specifically. It might be a good idea to assign certain oracles to new cities if the city they are signed up for it over loaded though.

As for dwelling on the past, you're right... but what if, even once, we have to remember what happened in the past and are unable to. I think it's a good idea to be able to scroll up but keep in mind that it's not a good idea to do so unless absolutely necessary.

Alright folks here's the rundown:

If you have a shot at being a goon in Chicago, and are remotely interested, I highly recommend you BE A GOON IN CHICAGO. I passed on the opportunity to be on the ground in the San Diego hunt and I've been kicking myself ever since. Plus, this is an opportunity to put some faces to the SHH user names.

That being said, if you're down for being an oracle, they are needed and it would be a great help.

When it comes to oracles, the Chicago oracles will be in direct phone contact with a goon on the ground, while at the same time being in an AIM chatroom with all of the other Chicago oracles. We believe that each hunt will be designed specifically for the city it is being held in, and that the speak easy, and most likely the SHH boards will be chaotic. So we will set up an AIM chat with all the oracles to work together to solve each of the online puzzles. This should allow us goons on the ground to get to the check points (and whatever swag they hold) early, and get to the final destination (presumably the Navy Pier IMAX) before the cut off, assuming there will only be room for around 300 clowns.

We will make sure that every goon has the phone number of the other goons so that we can get organized on the ground, and that each goon has the number of at least one oracle. The oracles will be given the contact information of the goons on the ground, and also the AIM screen names of other oracles so they can get organized on the net.

If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask, and keep an eye on the first post in the thread for any updates!

Yes, SHHers will rally between 4:00 and 4:30 at the fountain in front of Navy Pier, ideally each of us will be in contact with an internet buddy, and in turn all the internet buddies will be in contact with one another via an AIM chatroom in order to coordinate and help us all solve the puzzles faster.

Based on the capitalized words in the countdown page, we believe the final destination is the Navy Pier IMAX where we will be shown the new trailer. It is within the realm of possibility that they will also screen the other trailer(s) and the prologue, but that is only speculation. Hell, all of this is speculation :oldrazz:

If you want more info, check the first page of this thread, or the wiki which is linked in my sig \/

To clarify, if the Chicago oracles decide they would like to use a medium other than AIM, that's fine with me as long as it is ready to go in advance of Monday. But, I still think Chicago oracles should operate separately from other cities, as I doubt it will be a generic hunt in each location, but rather one tailor made to each city. Please let me know what you guys decide, and I will update the instructions.

Is anyone is the Greenbay area or on the way to Chicago? I am driving to Chicago and I don't want to make this drive alone.

3 hours in a car is a long drive....
