Thank f**king God! Finally!

I was seriously starting to fear if this didn't get this project off the ground soon it may not ever happen. I know the movie is supposed to be a standalone, but I really hope they add some elements of the alien colonization storyline. I mean, the show ended with
the two of them on the run from the law
so it wouldn't make much sense for it to just start with the two of them in the FBI office investigating the latest X-File. It also wouldn't make much more sense for them to just stumble upon Eugene Tooms, or something to that effect. There has to be some element of the conspiracy for the movie to make sense unless they set the movie in like 1994 or something. Not saying the whole movie has to be able alien colonization, or that they cant do a non-alien story, i just want there to be some connection between the two storylines.

Hasn't it been said that this will be a stand alone "horror/monster" X-File to take place during one of the middle seasons?

If X-Files II comes out, I'll go see it and check it out. I was a big fan of the show.

Agreed!

It's my favorite television series of all time, and i'm still a strong fan to this day. Can't wait for X-Files 2.

After all the years of speculation and David Duchovny´s cryptic comments, the sequel to The X-Files is happening - isn´t it kind of a coincidence it´s happening when Duchovny´s new cable show Californication is a hit?

This was my favorite nineties show and a huge influence on shows that came after, like Lost, 24, Supernatural... It pretty much reinvented genre television.

i read somewhere that this movie will not be connected to the first movie or the final episode?
is that true? this would suck.
in the last episode we got the ''DATE''. if this movie is not connected then its pointelss.

It's a one off bro. Like the moster of the week style episodes. It should be good and had better be.

Does anyone else feel the same about this movie? As in, "To Little, To Late".

I don't. I honestly believe that the budget will be modest (it is a horror film mostlikely) and with it's built n audience it will do well. Maybe not blockbuster well but well.

I loved the one-off horror episodes the best. They were the soul of the show, IMO. The alien story just served to string the seasons together. Good or bad, this will surely be better than the derivitive horror shyte coming out now.

Yeah that'd the funny thing about X-Files. There are so many fans that only love the mythology episodes and then there are the fans who love the monster of the week episodes. Then there is a whole group of fans who love them both because having these provides a breath of fresh air. X-Files had that kind of broad appeal.

I'd like to see a spin-off tv show take place...new people, new X-files.

Well, this is finally set in stone.
With that said, I'll be seeing it.

Amazing news!

I'm just wondering about the time line, because it's apparently set after the events of 'The Truth'... it'll be interesting to see if they explain what happens with that.

I'm guessing if this does well at the box office (which I'm estimating it will given the established fan base and general moviegoers income), it could go on to more movies that will focus on the mythology stuff. That's how Duchovny always saw it ending up, as a movie series.

The original concept when the first film was released was to go back and forth with the mythology and monster episodes.

Dec 10? I don't want to believe it cause it might fall apart again. :( I refuse to start building up excitement until I start seeing pictures from the set.

lol I hear ya bro. I call thaat Indy Four Syndrome. Although in this case since they are casting that cured my case of the dreaded I.F.S.

Wow, could this be finally happening? I hope Fox execs stay away from this.

I wonder if this moving foward has anything to do with the strike. Regardless I'm glad to have it.

IT should do well..the last movie made about 80 million domestically....That's more than most of the Star Trek Movies. So, I think this will do better if not just as well

Wow I hope you are right. It'll be a decade since the last one and 6 years since the show was last on.

About damn time. Indy 4 and X-Files 2 were always the sequels you could count on that would get some brief news and then nothing would happen. Every year.
