X-Men 3 is headed in the same direction as Mortal Kombat Annihilation.

My first topic about this was closed due to a huge lack of detail, this one is in greater detail and is worth discussing as it's own thread and apparently the mods agree.

As a member of this forum, I am allowed to make topics. Should you not agree with my topic, please respond with respect or simply ignore it and move on. I'm not hurting anyone or anything.

I simply saw the same thing closed the other day so I assumed this should be closed. I did not now the other one was closed for that reason.

Rehashing plot devices and killing off characters is a positive?

Where did I say that? I just said it's idiotic to compare MKA to X3. For obvious reasons. One, there are always going to be rehashed plot devices in a film franchise. That's how it works. Two, there are clearly going to be some new plot devices and characters. And yes, killing off characters can be a positive, if it's done well.

Man,..I feel like watching MKA right now..

Well, at least all of the good part(s)... :p

So you feel like watching the credits?? :o

Haha...sorry I couldn't resist.

Gotta love that techno MK theme.DUN DUN DUN DUN DUDUN DUN DUN

Never say MKA is it worth watching and wasting my time? I vaguely remember the first movie, so I'm, not sure what to expect.

It's laughably bad, but if you're a fan of the first movie you should see it at least once, since in the end it does wrap everything up in a decent enough fasion, but the overall movie is garbage. It should have been handled better.

There are two movies that I have been to where I wanted to stand up, walk up to the screen, and piss on it. Those movies were MKA and Wing Commander.

I'll be honest, there are a few parts that worked and made me happy. The beginning of the movie was pretty much how I imagined it would happen, minus Johnny getting lamed and power ranger palette swap ninjas. Shao Khan was unbelieveably cool UNTIL he took off his helmet and became a daddy's boy.

Finally I was welcomed lol, I been reading for a while, but never posted.

thats basically what i did for my first year or so............then a couple of weeks ago i got addicted to posting..........im trying to really cut back.

invalid comparison.. and xmen has been loaded with characters since the first one..

I think people like to take it to the extremes around the internet when dealing with movie quality...

I know horrible, terrible, awful movies when I see one, and MKA is near them, but not exactly one of them...Unlike some really bad movies I've seen, MKA had several redeeming factors that kept it somewhat mildly entertaining...

Hmmm...or maybe I just haven't seen it in a few years and forgot how bad it was.. :p

But Mortal Kombat has no substance anyway. Annihilation is no different to the first Mortal Kombat film - weak characters and a story-line just there to set up multiple fights.

X-Men is about much more than just fighting.

Mortal Kombat has tons of backstory and a great mythology to it. It spans several races, and several realms, as well as 100's of years in time. Most people just dont know the jist of it, and assume its just a bunch of ninjas ripping limbs apart.

But yeah, seriously, it has a huge mythos to it. Dont discount it like that.

Its not negativity. Just a legitmate concern and opinion.

I understand the concern but to start comparing it to movies like MK...I mean, geesh that's a little drastic I think. For me I see the X-trilogy mirroring Starwars OT. So you'd have X-Men compared to A New Hope, then X2 to Empire...and X3 to Jedi. Since Jedi was good but not as good as Empire, I could see X3 going that way. Being good but not as good as X2. But then again...it could very well be better than X2. So we'll have to wait and see.

And thats your opinion to compare it to a certain movie. No need to call it negative because he is concerned that it is sounding like MK to him. I used to get the same **** on the Superman boards just cause I thought some of the things I was hearing were weak. I wasn't being negative...just concerned.

Now that you mention it I wouldn't mind watching BTTF trilogy myself.

I'm not comparing these movies as equals. The X-Men film franchise is far better and I stand by that. Regardless of how these movies are in "different leagues" the same mistakes made in MKA could easily happen in such greater movies like X-Men 3 and spoil it, which is what I'm noticing and am concerned about.
