IT'S FINALLY OUT IN THE UK!!!!! Wooooo!

My Empire Book Pack edition turned up today, high-res book with the Blu-Ray in with all the art from the Empire promo run :woot:

Really nice cover on it, the sleeve is shiny so Wolverine's claws shine, and as you can see from my terrible split photo, there's a choice of spine! Magneto/Xavier one looks awesome :)

Took a few photos for you all, seeing as it seems to be a UK exclusive

I would post the pics here, but they're massive haha

Thanks for sharing! I wonder what artwork they'll use for the cut that may come out next year... they've pretty much used that one poster for everything!

Undoubtedly they'll use some new configuration with Rogue on the cover.

Yeah hopefully it will feature Rogue!

I hope rogue isn't the only character on the front cover or spine. It wouldn't seem right to advertise a minor character as the star. That would be like having a bestbuy exclusive with a quicksilver only cover because of his one scene.

And why would you think she would be the only character to appear in the front cover? When all X-Men team movies always featured a handful of characters in the front cover.

That being said, Rogue should be in the cover, since I think her cut scenes are like the one of the main selling points for this original cut release.

I think it'll be marketed as an extended cut rather than the "Rogue Cut" or likewise

They should market it as the "original cut".

Using the word "Extended cut" would mislead people because they aren't extending the film but showing the original cut of the film before the reshoots.

The original cut is the film that was released. That ended up being the film we all saw, the original. The director's intended cut is what we saw in theaters, Singer made it very clear that what we saw was a result of him and Ottman working out their vision in the editing room. Pacing issues, changes in story and script to simplify narrative. If we were going by what the many iterations a script goes through, no film would be the original.

What ended up on the cutting room floor is what'll be presumably added back in. From my understanding, ten minutes or more. Changing the narrative from the film released in theaters a bit, possibly even extending it. Original cut--not so much; extended cut--possibly. Who knows.

They could call it the "Rogue Edition" or "Rogue Cut" since Rogue also has another meaning

But if they are naming it after the character then its like calling it the quicksilver cut even though he only was in it 15 minutes maybe

they will probably call it the Xtreme edition or something

Releasing "Rogue cut" Is like one one final treat for fans of original Cast

1:We get to see Rogue's role as it was originally intended to be seen
2:We will get to see a bit more of Xavier,Magneto, and Iceman In film

Since it appears more and more likely the only member of original cast we will see again In X-Men films Is Hugh Jackman, and who even knows how much longer we will see him perhapes only In Apocalypse and new wolverine solo film, fans should apprecate the alternate cut of DOFP.

Sigh.

For the theatrical release, sure, it was the original cut. But the film w/ Rogue scenes was screened privately for a test screening. So there was a time, that the film w/ Rogue scenes was intended to be the actual cut of the film, though of course it changed when they edited the film and stuff from the reshoot were added.

And I just don't know how you would it consider it as an "extended cut" when it would probably remove stuff from the final cut, like Shadowcat holding Logan til the end, Iceman being killed at the temple, etc...

That's the first I'm hearing about a screening of the film with Rogue's scenes in it. Care to cite a source or two?

Both of those scenes exist in the Rogue cut, but with different characters in the final Sentinel scene and in a different location as far as Iceman's death. So those two scenes don't add to the film's runtime per se, but there's an entire rescue sequence involving a scene at the temple talking about Rogue's whereabouts, at least one scene taking place inside the X-Jet, then the X-Mansion sequence. These could very well extend the film. Hence, extended cut. Otherwise alternate cut, Rogue cut, X-Treme edition--whatever. Original, I can't say I agree with.

Extend the length of the film, sure. But an extended cut is something like Wolverine's extended cut, it kept all the scenes of the film and added more scenes. We aren't getting that with the Rogue cut. If they are attaching Rogue's scenes back, some of the scenes specifically the ones that were shot during the reshoots would be cut.

Its been talked about here. SHH user Showtime, saw the film with Rogue's scenes attached.

Oh yeah? what did he say about the rogue scenes? How many scenes were in the future were their?

I assumed he saw the film when he said that Rogue felt like an afterthought.

Well, my Blu-ray arrived and I watched it, and some of the bonus features, last night.

Yay! Still love it.

Minor things bug me a tiny bit....

When Storm says 'no but we can slow them down', she lowers her head and then takes off so quickly it just seems too fast. I'd have liked that to have been at a slightly slower pace. I also wonder why Magneto didn't crush some of the Sentinel carrier ships as they approached the monastery. We know from X2 that he can control a jet from a considerable distance, we know from X3 that he can scrunch metal vehicles, and we know that the carrier ships had metal in them because he stopped all the metal wreckage from the exlosion. However, I love the scene where he moves the jet and Storm blows it up.

I also didn't like McXavier's f-word and felt it was gratuitous and unnecessary. Wolverine could have grabbed him before he had chance to utter it.

Apart from that, all is fantastically excellent! :woot:

I thought this too the first time I saw the scene on Ellen. It just seemed like she was in a hurry to say the line so she can show off. Seemed like it was a one-take and then go. I expected a lot more of director and actress.

It's one of those things that make you go hmmm...They've been dealing with this Mutant Terrorist that can control metal for 60 years now (?). You would think they would stop building weapons that can easily be manipulated by said terrorist. One of those things the production didn't think thru.

Exactly. There is no 'breathing space' in that scene for acting/character to come through. Obviously time was seriously running out in the story, but still it needed a bit more of Singer's usual care and thought to make it a moment or two longer.
