The premade characters are an attempt to basically integrate them into the Marvel canon in future books, that's why. It's a smart move, but if the game sucks, they won't be well received.

Just like Marvel Nemesis....and look what happened with that...

...I caved and pre-ordered yesterday morning, it was shipped last night...I should have it by this evening with my bonus content code coming in the next couple days....I'm a big X-Fan...I've played the good and bad, and couldn't pass this up...since the last X-Game was film related (Wolverine IIRC) I love the films (all of them...yes I said it...) but could never bring myself to get into the games......if this is utterly terrible trade it/return it and continue to play X-Men Legends I & II and X-men Arcade...

Interesting. Whats the reason behind that? Just like the sound of it?
I dont even remember but its been a thing for me in recent years. It would feel odd not to have a "Kain" in a game where I can customize

I usually use my name, but when i saw the characters last name was Shepard, i couldn't resist using Jack.

It's not utterly terrible. It's a very average game. Lots of great ideas in it but none of them are really fully thought through. It's a decent beat em game, its a shame though because their is glimmers of greatness. All the ideas for this game are just fantastic but its like they either didn't have the time, money or just didn't want to fully implement them. It is fun going through the levels and seeing all these X-Men and Brotherhood helping you out or trying to stop you and I love all the voice actors for the different characters. I am looking forward to playing it again as a different character and choosing a different power just to see if the game changes at all.

Thats its.

Activision gave them a small budget and a tight deadline and said give us an X-Men game so we can use that license we paid for. They can prob sell a handful of these games and still turn a profit(considering the license is already paid off).

If thats true that really sucks because this game could have been amazing. You can tell what they had in mind when they wanted to make this thing. You can talk to every character after you meet them and get loads of information from them. You can take or decline missions from X-men or Brotherhood and that fills your faction meter depending on which way you want to go. You can join either team. You get all these different x-genes, mutant powers, costumes which help make you fight the way you want to. There are so many awesome rpg elements in it that are just not fully there.

This game is pretty underwhelming. Lots of potential, but I ****ing hate not being able to play as my favorite x-man. I'm fighting along side characters I'd be much more content to be playing as.

I can probably forgive and live with the other stuff...it being a beat 'em up, three character choices.

But, 3 to 5 hours? For an RPG? That's...gotta be a mistake. That's short even by shooter standards. By RPG standards, it's laughable.

It's longer than 3 hours. I've been playing for at least 4 and I'm not done yet

It's fun. I'm not too far, but it's fun.

Can't get the damn code from Amazon to work, though.

Haven't received it yet (over here UPS is usually between 7:00pm-8:00pm in my neck of the woods), but your description gives me hope. Again I love everything X and was originally in the camp that wanted X-Men Legends 3 or bust, but again on an impulse yesterday morning I ordered it.........

If you wanna divulge some details for me...hows the gameplay?

the gameplay is your typical beat em up. X for quick attack and y for strong attack. Those attacks differ depending what x-gene you have and what power you initially chose. I chose the shadow attack so my guy makes these shadow claws when he punches and he has a teleportation type of attack. You gain other power related to yours as you play and you can upgrade these. You also gain what they call x-genes, an offensive, defensive, and utility and these are all from different X-Men. For example I'm rocking all 3 Colossus'. So for my offensive, my ending attack is much more powerful, for the defense I have higher health and my skin will turn metal to absorb some of the attacks and his utility is that the dodge has now turned into a ram attack so I can use to hurt guys. Thankfully those x-genes really keep the game from getting too repetitive. It's fun trying new ones and seeing which ones you like and which ones you don't. If you're a huge x-men fan than you'll probably like it. It's really sweet to be taking orders from Cyclops or fighting along with Surge and Colossus or helping Nightcrawler or having a contest to see who defeat more enemies between you and Wolverine.

Oh and the game is definitely longer than 3 hours long. I'm at about hour 5 and I can tell the end is coming which is unfortunate but I'm not sure how much longer. Plus you have 3 different characters and 3 different powers to try out not too mention playing as a X-Man and playing as a Brotherhood so the replayability is definitely there.

hmmm.......I'm kind of liking the sound of that.............

I gotta say I love Magneto in this. His armor suit is bad ass and his voice actor is top notch

It's not Michael Fassbender is it? Cuz Fassbender is the best thing to happen to Magneto since, ever.

So what I assume is the final boss is annoying the **** out of me.

this really does sound like a good Rental game, or one you can find in the bargain bin or at a good sale.

but for a full $60, it just doesn't sound worth it, imo. especially with all the other games coming out in the near future.

I usually don't go off what people say, but I think I'm going to wait too. I'm not hearing enough positive things to shell out $60. I think I can wait until this comes down in price.

Believe it or not, I still haven't played through XL2 and haven't played my UA I or II yet. I'll wait.
