I really hate the blue Phoenix effect on Rachel.

I like the blue phoenix effect. It makes her a little more distinct from Jean. Besides, fire can be blue.

Yeah, I like the blue phoenix effect too, it's more unique. And that cover is really great.

Righ..why is havok the one dealing with the crazy brother? then again, Scott has enough on his plate to deal with than having to handle the crazy bastard brother

I think if it was Scott dealing with Vulcan, I guess his sense of responsibility would probably get in the way, since Vulcan and his friends were killed when trying to rescue him and the rest of the O5. And he really has enough to handle right now, let Alex have something to do, though I don't know he still has his inferior complex, he should get rid of it coz he's no longer the baby brother, the current baby boy is throwing a fit in space.

After 20 years why the need to change it now? I think it just looks stupid. Besides, thats not even fire. Is TK energy

Rachel should dye(sp) her hair or something.

From the looks of things, Polaris is making it her goal to snap Alex out of it.
Blue fire's temperature is higher than red one, but Jean's red fire was more dramatic imo, and Rachel here looks kind of like Cable.
I like the pseudo-Cable thing. Her glowing eye and blue signature are the closest thing we have to anyone admitting they're related.

It's TK energy made to resemble fire. Besides, if Jean can switch between fire as Phoenix and pink when normal, why can't Ray use blue fire now that she has the Phoenix back for the first time in a decade?

Yost will undoubtedly do good stuff with these characters. It'll be sad that he won't be investing as much time in Ch'od or Raja, but seriously, these three characters need some good stuff done with them.

And agreed on the pseudo-Cable thing. It's a good thing, and actually a cool look.

And to steal a Spacey quote from Superman Returns about the last chunk, well, "you're not seeing the big picture, Mr. Manic!" If people just went along with something minor (that is even more minor, since we saw blue energies through "Rise and Fall," too), they wouldn't have more to whine about! :D

Well she should look like Cable..they ARE siblings....family resemblance is always a factor....and i like the blue fire. She is making the Phoenix her own...and hopefully it will stay that way forever and ever.

Yes, Rachel should definitely have the Phoenix and not her mother. She can control it MUCH better than Jean can.

Okay, I have to get this off my chest...

People are always saying that Jean can't control the Phoenix, how it's evil, ect. Just a reminder: Jean only turned into the Dark Phoenix because outside forces drove her temporarily insane! Before Emma and Mastermind got ahold of her, the Phoenix was perfectly fine, if not more aggressive. Hell, even Morrison portrayed Jean as sane while she was re-manifesting the Phoenix.

Eh, but Jean essentially became a boring ass character when she had the Phoenix. The thing that was added to you to make you more interesting shouldn't ultimately make you a useless boring character.

Whereas even when she's had the Phoenix Rachel has been interesting.

Bottom line no one knows what to do with Jean anymore.

That's no excuse to keep perpetuating the idea that the Phoenix is inherently evil.

Yeah, that cover rocks. Glad to see Rachel is getting a little bit of face time in that story. She needs to get back down to earth though.....

Its not true that Rachel controls the Phoenix better than Jean.

When Rachel first became Phoenix in the 80s she was crazed. She wanted to kill Beyonder and destroy the entire universe!

Wolverine gutted her to keep her from killing Selene.

In Rise and Fall of the Shiar Empire, Rachel needlessly killed a bunch of Shiar because she was being corrupted by the Phoenix.

Jean controlled the Phoenix just fine in the original years until she was tricked by Mastermind. And she controlled it in Revolution/X-Men Forever and New X-Men too.

Rachel's Phoenix power is blue because it is a blue shadow or echo of the Phoenix. They explained in Rise and Fall of Shiar Empire that it is not the true Phoenix force that she has but a blue shadow or echo of it (whatever that means).

I'm sure its also to set her apart from Jean. Jean's Phoenix power is red and sometimes pink (even during the original Phoenix years, Revolution, and New X-Men it was sometimes pink).

Jean had the Phoenix Symbol over her eye in Revolution too. Jean had it before Rachel.

Jean having the Phoenix doesn't make her boring. Jean with the Phoenix is usually more out going and lively and she has to deal with a lust for power (original Phoenix years, Seagles run, Revolution).

Jean with the Phoenix was only more somber in Morrison's New X-Men because it was a somber book!

And even then look at what she did to the U-Men and Emma. Look at how she dressed in Here Comes Tomorrow.

Hooray! Someone else who noticed Jean has no trouble controlling the Phoenix!

yes the only time she didnt was during the DPS when her mind was being messed with by Mastermind and Emma

I don't think it gets addressed nearly enough in Scott & Emma's relationship.

Emma: "Darling, Jean's all wrong for you. All she ever does is turn evil and die on you."
Scott: "Aren't you the one who turned her evil in the first place?"
Emma: "By accident."
Scott: "You were trying to control her mind."
Emma: "Only to gain leverage over Shaw."
Scott: "She wouldn't have even died in the first place if it weren't for you."
Emma: "Yes, well, Jean doesn't do that thing with her tongue."
Scott: "True enough. Let's go to bed."
