World X-Men Evolution

I liked evolution, but the problem with the show is that it didnt do what it was supposed to do...

Evolution was intended to be a true prequel to the animated series, documenting how the x-men became the team we saw in the animated series... However it got changed... The original line up in evolution was ment to have Xavier, Cyclops, Jean, Pre-blue furred beast, angel, iceman, along with new recruits storm, rogue and Wolverine... the series would of showned how Rogue got her flight and strength, why characters like Iceman left the x-men and address there history so it would explain there formation in the animated series...

However because they wanted to be a bit more PC and have more interesting and new characters they made it different adding and taking out characters...

alot of people now reckon that Wolverine and the X-Men was made to show what the future of x-men evolution had become instead of being the animated series from the 90's that it was supposed to be for.

Wow! You are so hung up on the O5 aren't ya? :p

I don't think they did anything wrong by changing things up a bit. I actually find the O5 to be quite boring. And yes, they must have interesting characters with cool powers because it is a TV show. It can't be exactly like the comic books in every respect.

I didn't really look at Evolution as a prequel to anything. I looked at it as a kind of AU.

Yeah i'm glad it was something new instead of a prequel. WATXM suck to me. Desgins are lame and cannot get into the storyline of the show.

they are supposedly releasing ten new episodes janauary 2010!

Chris Klien as Scott Summers, Seth Green as Nightcrawler, Charisma Carpenter as Jean Grey
(Inspired by them anyway)

What the deck is Disney XD?!

I wish they'd release season 4 on DVD! I thought it was on demand.

Is it me or was Evolution's Goth Rogue actually better looking than most real life Goth girls?

I liked it, but I kinda fell off after a point, mostly because I got to the age where Saturday mornings were best for sleeping in then watching cartoons.

Realy? 'Cause I imagine it as a prequel to W&TXM
although in my imagination of a perfect W&txm, Logan was always there :P other than a few minor things like Kurt being older than kitty, Avalanche now getting greek accent, and like i listed above- logan arriving when everyone's adults, W&TXM could of been a sequel to X-Men Evo. I would of liked that.

Not that I'm aware of. But we can always start one. :word:

i never saw the three series as trying to connect to each other, just different takes on the characters. i figured Evolution was just capitalizing on the release and success of the first X-Men film (hence the reason the first X-Men were Cyclops, Jean, Storm, and Wolverine). though since it was brought up, i always did feel like WatX was continuing from some continuity (whether the series or the movies) because its clear that all these characters already have so much history between them without ever seeing it ourselves.

i actually like Wolverine and the X-Men, but it took me a while (like half the season) to warm up to all the changes. Wolverine's and Cyclops's roles is still something that bothers me, and i got over Logan's anatomy a long time ago, but to just enjoy watching the X-Men in action the shows great. there are great moments like Cyclops vs. the Mauraders, Gambit being the grey-area he is, all the Nightcrawler episodes, their "X-Force" missions (black costumes included), and their version of Phoenix i felt was much more interesting and easier to follow than what we have now in the books.

the 90s show doesn't hold up very well 18 years later (like the rest of Marvel's toons) and Evolution never fully grasped me. i used to follow the original airings, but around season 2 i wasnt able to anymore...i didnt really care. even now i tried again following it on DXD, and id watch it just to watch it.

The first seasons of Fantastic Four & Iron Man were terrible, the one year of Avengers was forgettable, the first seasons the 90s Spider-Man & Incredible Hulk started off fine, but both took a bad turn for different reasons - Spider-Man took a bad turn with all the dimension hopping nonsense and trying to make Spidey into a "chosen one of prophecy" crap with that awful Madam Webb (I still cringe at the Secret War adaptation - Spider-Man is not a leader damn it!) while Hulk took a bad turn because they turned it into a screwball buddy comedy opposite his cousin She-Hulk. The 90s X-Men's animation may have been inconsistent, but the storytelling sure holds up better.

i redesigned this pic from watxm
see if it makes it look more like a continuity of the show

I wondered the same!! Are they gonna play the WXM 2nd season there? They better! It's like Disney's starting to own the world

Now, my thoughts on X-Men Evolution:

When it was first aired, I only caught about 8 episodes of it, but didn't pay too much attetion to it. Then, about a year ago, I watched ALL of the episodes in order; it took me about a month and a half, but i made it.

And even though TAS will always be my favorite, 'cause it's more like the X-Men are supossed to be, and it's a cartoon that seems to be made for grown ups, Evo was very, very good. Better that I expected. I thought it'd be a Dawson's Creek sort of thing, but no. It was fun, I really got to love the characters the way they were presented (except Rogue; I'm still nitpicky 'bout her) and I think it was an awesome way to introduce the X-Men to new generations.

Evolution Rogue is damn hot. I do have a thing for goth girls. W&TX-M Rogue "blah" to me.

By the way...

Disney XD is the replacement of the late Toon Disney. Say goodbye to most of your beloved late-90's Disney programs.

i said goodbye to those years ago when they started bringing their regular shows over and only had Gargoyles left at 3 in the morning.
