Sequels X-Men: First Class

you can't really blame Singer per se X2 was the biggest comic book of the early decade and its because of him that comic books were able to be put back on the map...now if you're hatred is for X3 & XMO:W, then you can't blame him because he set up for these movies, but due to circumstances he left the franchise, so if you want to blame someone blame Fox, the writers and/or directors for what was produce

everyone wants a reboot w/the original X-Men, hate to say it, ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!! All 4 X-movies were successful in their on way, its not how Schumacher took the Bat-films and made them campy and killed the franchise...

ppl keep harping on Singer's Superman film and to be honest the Superman franchise has been in disaray since the 70s/80s, after the failure of Superman 3/4, so Singer took a chance w/this franchise just like he did w/X-Men

I don't think Singer is "the golden boy" as you see it...i think Fox & co. realized that even tho X3 and XMO:W were still box office hits, the reviews of the film by critics and by (non)fan boys/girls were not like x1/2 and i think they want the "magic" back that made X1/2 the "historic" movies that they are for First Class & probably a sequel(s)

Reality People. The first X-Men saved the entire genre of comic book films.
And this Is with Fox being cheap ass on the budget. They gave more to the
first Fantastic four than first X-Men,and moved up release on Bryan Singer.
Back In 2003 X2 was the most successful COmic Book film released that
year.

As for Sperman Returns it Is one thing to dislike It but It was not a batman
and Robin flop.It made 200 Million DOmesticly. This Is not counting overseas
grosses and DVD sales.Batman Begins only did 5 Million more domesticly.
It was considered a fiancial Disappoint because of the budget some of which was spent before SInger ever came onto the filmWarner Brothers wasted 25
Million on Nicholas Cage and tim Burton and they never shot a frame of film.
Superman Returns was the first superman film In almost 20 years.Singer
hardly destroyed the franchise. And If the J.J. Abrams scipted version of
Superman would have been produced you would have had a mockery of
Superman with Kryptan not exploduing, and Lex Luthor as Kryptan among other
things.

Fox doesn't think of Singer as golden boy but considering Superman Returns with good reviews with criticts but mixed reaction from Comic Book fans was still able to outgross the first X-Men film and was also able to get decent box office for Valkyre despite Tom Cruise's ailenation of moviegoers added to the postive reactions to the first 2 X-Men films this IS their chance to make money on a X-Men film without having to spend big money on returning stars Inless Singer wants to use CGI to have Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellan back for the parts of the film after the school Is formed.

How on earth could anyone blame Singer for the destruction of the X-Men franchise?!! He directed the first two solid X-Men movies, X2 probably being one of the best comic book movies ever.

Than Fox, being the money grubbing pigs that they are, wanted to shove X-Men 3 out in an insane time, and wouldn't even let Singer do at least one project before than. So they completely drop him and hire some hack director to rush the movie out.

Fox is the people to blame for the destruction of the franchise, not Singer.

I agree. I love Singer's X-Films. They are to this day my favorite Comic Book adaptations.

X2 Is my favorate marvel film.I prefer the first 2 X-Men films before any Spider-man films, and ues I mean Spider-man 1 and 2 as well, and Iron Man.The 4 best comic book films of all time for me are the original Superman,X2,Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight.
With X-Men close behind behind them.

I recently watched Wolverine, and all 3 X-Men films back to back. And it reinforces how good X-Men and X2 were.X2 blows away many other Comic book films. And he was able to balance having Wolverine as central character and giving other characters things to do.Granted Cyclops got the short end but he fared much better here than In The Last Stand.

i always felt if they included and extended that illusion scene with Scott and Xavier where they break out of Alkali Lake it wouldve given Scott more screentime plus a chance to showcase his skill. give people an idea of why he has fans (like me). X2 has a spot in my top 5 comic films as well.

...hiring the same director to do the same franchise that he help destroy is so stupid.
There wouldn't be an X-men franchise (to ruin) without Bryan Singer.:ikyn
You are not making any sense.

I guess some people would rather them hire Brett Ratner over Singer?

I actually wouldn't mind both (not one or the other, both)
I actually liked Ratner’s approach in terms of bringing more action, an a more comic booky feel to the movies, which Singer desperately try to avoid...

but, for all the action he brought his version lacked story and character, which, Singer did bring in spades to his movies

they need to find a balance between the 2
(a story and character driven, action adventure, thats not afraid to be a comic book movie)

That's the only thing Singer's movies lack, the whole power display. But it depends on the character. I don't know how he could've made Nightcrawler even more badass. His teleportation was probably even more effective than in the comics, teleporting from person to person during the White house fight, throwing, punching and kicking people around, still taking out several guards, while the one he just threw is still in midair.

Then you have Magneto, who doesn't really fly much, but just floats and uses a helicopter to get around. I loved how he used those giant metal orbs in X-Men Evolution to travel. They should do something similar in the Movies.

That would be awesome! Visually that would pack a punch and be a pretty groovey set piece.

Speaking of transportation, I would love it if we finally get to see Storm fly. By that, I don't mean levitate up an elevator shaft or see her twirl (or whatever the Hell she was doing in The Last Stand). I want to see Storm fly like a "wind-rider" is supposed to.

Also, her name is Storm. Why is it, after 3 movies, she still hasn't created one? I've seen my share of fog and lightning. I would like to see a good thunderstorm to douse her foes.

I would love it, if she was found by the X-men because of a lot of Storms happening in Africa.

We just see a wide shot of a girl in the air in the middle of a storm, and then Xavier telepathy speaks to her and you she the girl fall from the sky.

Singer was also the only director to show how destructive and uncontrollable Cyclops' blasts really are without his visor. Singer wanted to make sure Cyclops' beam came off as a "wave" of energy while both Ratner and Hood made his beams way tighter and more focused. Both Hood and Ratner made it seem like Cyclops without his visor just shoots regular beams.

It's really a mixed bag. Some characters are true to their comic form, some characters are toned down.

She created the tornadoes in X2 to get rid of the fighter jets.

I know, but I mean a thunderstorm. Granted, I guess there were thunderstorms far off in the distance during Storm's tornado gauntlet in X2, but I want to see her in the midst of an actual storm (dark skies, heavy rain, wind, lightning, etc.)

ok....just saw on the Hype homepage that Sony is thinking of rebooting the Spider-man franchise, with a new cast and crew, and with a focus on Peter's early/high-school years.

That....to say the least.....is quite shocking!! While Spidey 3 wasn't as good as 1 and 2, the Spidey franchise was still considered quite strong....wasn't it?

Yet....it seems Sony is now wanting to REBOOT the whole franchise!!

what.....does this say about First Class??

Obviously, Fox has already chosen to go with Singer again......but, perhaps, they should take a page from Sony and use this opportunity to reboot the X-men franchise......

After The Last Stand, I thought the X-Men franchise found itself in a much more precarious position than the Spider-Man franchise after Spider-Man 3. I would be fine if Fox continues to pursue First Class as a continuation of the current franchise with Singer or if they decide to reboot with or without him. Unlike Sony, however, Fox does have more than one franchise to consider. By rebooting, the studio risks its spin-offs, notably Jackman's Wolverine.

ANNNNDDDD thats why we won't see an X-Men reboot for many many years.

Yup, Jackman's Wolverine is apparently more important than Tobey's Spider-Man. Despite the SM movies wiping the floor box office wise.
