But because fans like you kicking and screaming for a reboot lead to them having to make a reboot with a different studio and the result is that the reboot has become a joke... Would you truely be happy?

Have you ever given thought to the fact that the possibility of a movie being bad, even as bad as Batman and Robin, is present every single time a movie is made, regardless of whether it’s a reboot or if it’s a continuation of the current franchise and regardless of the studio producing it? The thought of a reboot being bad is a possibility and something I've thought about. You're not exactly revealing anything new. If the movie is bad, so what? It's just a movie. I would rather a studio take the risk at shooting for greatness and fail, than a studio that settles for mediocrity every single time.

I agree I felt that just about everything in all the x-men movies was very safe
not many things were very epic and great although there were some moments (Magneto's escape and Jean vs. Xavier come to mind). I've said it a million times a reboot is not completley neccessay as the films weren't atrocious but it would be nice somewhere down the line (preferably when Rothman is gone so awhile from now).

If Fox had any sense about them they would be starting over with a young cast, doing an origin with the original team. This would allow them to produce 3-4 films and hang on to the X-Men film rights.

Additionally, if they any more sense about them, they would hire a directer who actually has some vision and isn't fixated on making X-Men all about his own qualms with homosexuality vs. society. The whole "coming out" scene in X2 was laughable.

Furthermore, if Fox had any sense left after doing all of that... they would throw some decent money at this thing and allow the filmmakers to actually produce something epic and exciting. X-Men has been far too watered down and "realistic" for my tastes. I want to see Magneto trying to move the Earth into a new orbit. I want to see the X-Men work as a team instead of "Wolverine 1, 2 and 3."

Anyway, that is just what I think.

I like Bryan films...... and Im happy with his return...

but I agree that the X-men movies can be really epic, and Id say in the line of films like Avatar, Lord of the rings, Pirates...

BMM id like to appologies for saying "Grow Up" it was a bit uncalled for. I can see your point and its diffinatly something to consider. It could be done well, it could be great. But i have yet to see a reboot really superseed its original. Look at the attempts...

There is nothing wrong with mediocrity - the trouble is every fan has a big idea of what x-men is yet its always different. Do you know that a survay was done back in 2002 i think, not sure on the exact year i just remember the survay... It had a list of questions, questioning peoples knowledge of the marvel universe. I think this survay was on the marvel website not to sure.

Anyway they catergorised it for a simple reason. They wanted to know what people thought the x-men were, for canoncity... a staggering 60 percent of Fans showed that there knowledge of the franchise came largely from the 90's animated series. only 30 percent knew the full x-men comic representation and 10 percent only really knew the characters from toys or had heard of them.

You probably wondering what the point of this test was. It showed that majority of fans have a warped vision of x-men largely based on what they know from the cartoon series.

Now im gathering that all of us on here are fans of the comic book series. Now say the studio did this survay so they could work out what would best suit a large audiance and found that the cartoon series was the greatest representation people remember of the x-men. and then based a movie along the lines of the cartoon series... Would you have been happy.

The funny thing about this is, in 1995, a script was produced for a live movie of the x-men. That script was done off the back of the success of the animated series. The script was based on the cartoon series as if it was a live action movie, yet the canonicty to that film would of been incorrect to the comic book...

Good job it wasnt actioned... because the overal idea sounded very similar to how batman movies were being produced.

So the way i look at it, if that was going to be the original movie, surely Bryan Singers verson was a reboot of the script that worked?

Cyclops, Jean, and Storm hardly amounted to anything in the core trilogy and now we're supposed to be interested in their high school antics?

I know that is exactly how I'm feeling at the moment. I just want an X4 is all. I wish they'd stop with all these prequels.

If I am Fox and want to play it safe, I'd make a prequel with potential to morph into a completely different franchise. Don't directly acknowledge any specifics from the trilogy and just do your thing. Wolverine Origins handled it nicely in that respect although they should have held off on the amnesia thing, again showing how Fox failed to display a long term vision for the franchise.

Fox was still playing it like it's 1999 where one only hopes for a super hero sequel and not 2009 when the standard was becoming to set up for a long and fruitful franchise.

But they were two characters who had NO place in a Wolverine Origins film. Their appearance (and Charlie X at the end) was a blatantly gratuitous way for Fox to try and set up a First Class film or an X Sequel.

The only good thing about the whole film were the opening credits, (which should have actually been what majority of the movie was about)

I know Cyclops and Jean will be in it, but I say mix it up by having Storm, Iceman, and someone like Nightcrawler and Colossus to round it out. I don't think they have to use the original five to be successful. Maybe they could use other popular X-Men to sell it.

Xavier and Magneto use her to keep track of mutants before they build Cerebro.

afterall Xavier and Sage do share a pre-x-men history in the comics

Emma has to be a controversial character, and they should show her telepathy on this film.

Lets hope they do her justice.

What would you guys think if they very loosely borrowed the riot plot from Morrisons run for First Class?
Have Xavier and Magneto (and maybe Moira?) teaching a fairly large class of young mutants. A couple of them become dangerous and basically cause a riot and try to take over. Then the X-men team is formed when Scott, Jean, etc. help stop them. Young Emma takes the place of the cuckoos in the story, Magneto takes Xorn's place, teaching the misfit students. And Hank, Jean, and Scott are themselves still, just students instead of teachers.
The possibilities are really endless, but a small problem taking place mostly at the school could still make for a great movie, and wouldn't overshadow anything that happens later on in the existing movies.
