X-Men - Part 2

if that is Jean in the background of Wolverine and the X-men I may buy this book
It's not Jean. It's never Jean. It's probably Rachel.

Also, Hank left the X-Men because he got tortured during the Dark Avengers crossover, Scott let it happen, and there was no one to comfort him among the X-Men while he suffered from PTSD. He knew X-Force existed some time before the X-Men moved to Utopia, and he was on Scott's ass about it. If Hank finds out about the new X-Force, I imagine he's going to get on Logan's ass about that. Frankly, I hope Hank threatens to get SHIELD and the Avengers involved.

It's probably Idie in the background with the fire.

I would love an Avenger/X-Men war right now. Gotta thin out that mutie herd a bit.

Yes, that's what we need. There are only 200 mutants left, and we need to cull their huge numbers. :whatever:

What we need is for some of the mutants to leave the X-Men for other teams or retire into the background. I miss the New/Young X-Men, but it's probably best that they just go to school or something for now. Generation Hope shouldn't have happened. X-Force didn't need to happen either, considering every member of that team could be seen elsewhere in the X-Men at the time of their formation except Deadpool.

Yes that's what we need....Uncanny X-Force, the best X-title out of a group of mediocre ones, it should have never happened.:whatever:

True brother, true

It should've happened in a different comic if it was gonna happen at all.

Quentin Quire is f--king crazy and Schism made me love him. This should be fun

There were no options other than continuing on with the X-Force book they had and it would have never sold as well as it does now. It's one of the few cases where a reboot helped it. What else was there? Uncanny? Legacy? I couldn't see them upsetting the apple cart by changing the status quo of one of those books.

X-Men Legacy's status quo is hardly untouchable. It went from a team book to an Professor X book to a Rogue book in just the last few years. Putting it in Uncanny X-Men would've at least given that book a direction. What happened in Uncanny X-Men while Uncanny X-Force got going? Everybody got a cold.

Uncanny X-force's stories and writing has justified its existence and doesnt feel redundant or a waste of time. It has a very distinct tone, mission statement, and feel that sets it apart from the other titles. It wouldnt have fit in as an Uncanny X-men replacement. UXF works well as UXF. Its consistently one of the best books out there. There are other books in the lineup that shouldn't exist over it. UXF is pretty solid

Fair enough. Can we at least agree that X-Men (sans adjectives) has got to go? I mean, over in the X-Men boards, we're using its thread to talk about the Fantastic Four. No one seems to be reading or liking that title.

this is why this book is better than the rest...it has a clear purpose...the other books are just floundering around

IA on that and Im the one that brought up that theres more interest for the FF there. I admit that I dont read X-men and have little interest for that. X-men teaming up with the MU is definetly something that could have been incorporated into the other titles. It didnt need its own book for that to occur

I was about to defend him but then I remembered that the only real good arc that title's had was the one written by Yost :(

I didn't mind Curse of the Mutants but it was flawed. I didn't much care for the Spider-Man arc. The Xavier/Jubilee issue was decent. The FF team up's first issue was boring and even a little annoying and I skipped the second issue today so that's saying something. I thought Gischler had promise at first but I think it was moreso that he actually portrayed the team and not just Cyclops, Emma, and friends.

I wish they'd just cancel X-Men and Astonishing X-Men and be done with them both. Replace them with something else X if they must but not just another X-Men book. We have a couple X-Men books, New Mutants, and Generation Hope. Why don't we just fill in the generational gap and have Generation X and New X-Men?

Is "Curse of the Mutants" the first arc, with the vampires? 'Cause that one suuuuuuuuuuuucked. People were behaving in wildly illogical ways left and right for no apparent reason.

I don't think Gischler necessarily sucks. He's just a 1 dimensional writer. He's best at writing the crime genre, not the X-Men.

I'm starting to think the same with Gillen, that perhaps he's best at mythical stuff like Thor and Journey into Mystery. I want to see how he handles the relaunch. The point one issue he did was great.

Man... I was thinking more about this offhand comment and I think it has real potential. It fills in the book slots and divys up a lot of the characters to a real place. Fill in missing characters with characters who don't have established generational homes and there you go.

Uncanny X-Men
Xavier
Cyclops
Beast
Ice Man
Archangel
Emma Frost

X-Men Legacy
Storm
Wolverine
Colossus
Kitty Pryde
Warpath
Dazzler
Rogue
Psylocke

New Mutants
Cannonball
Danielle Moonstar
Karma
Magik
Cypher
Warlock
Sunspot

Generation X
Banshee (when they save him from the TO infection)
Chamber
Husk
Jubilee
M
Blink
Synch (when they save him from the TO infection)
Skin (when they save him from the TO infection)

New X-Men
Prodigy
Elixer
Hellion
Rockslide
Anole
Gentle
Pixie
Loa
Stepford Cuckoos

Generation Hope
Hope
Gabriel
Idie
Teon
Zero
Laura

And then....

X-Factor
Havoc
Polaris
Multiple Man
Strong Guy
Wolfesbane
Longshot
Shatterstar
Layla
Rictor

X-Force: Maybe some representatives of different teams post Dark Angel Saga?
Magneto
Cable
Fantomex
Deadpool
Shatterstar
Magik
Blink
Hellion

X-23
X-23
Gambit
Ceclia Reyes

Then find out where to squeeze in Namor, Northstar, and anyone else I forgot. I figure this will give everyone a chance to grow in a certain book. X-Force would make sense for some overlap. Each book gives the characters an established history and relationship to grow off of. Etc.

I kinda like this idea.

He writes horrid dialogue. Mind you, I haven't read his crime fiction, so maybe he writes okay dialogue within the confines of the novel. But his comics dialoge is pretty awful.

As for Gillen - his first arc on Uncanny is trash, simple as. But his point one issue was fine, and his Fear Itself tie-ins have been good.

I loved it when it had some Ellis love. Gage's arc is okay.
