X-Men - Part 2

Maybe if they bring back Storm in the Ult.X book full time ill read it.

I kind of had to role my eyes at Wolverine in Schism, now you dont want the kids to be fighting any battles at all? Took you this long to come to this inclusion so then you threaten to blow up the island? The X-men were founded on teens fighting evil.

Yeah, while I like the idea of scott and logan going at it, Logan's sudden "the kids don't fight" did seem both a little out of character and a tad unreasonable. I'm not going to lie however and say I didn't enjoy their little banter about Jean that finally led to an optic blast. Art was fantastic too.

Alan Davis is so awesome. He needs to get a regular gig again, DD....ASM....Avengers who cares. He's one of the best.

The only reason the Logan view seems unreasonable is because your probably not reading what's going on in his solo.

Yup, that's my take on it as well. It makes sense after what he just did. :(

Oh. Well then shame on them for doing that since I will never read a Wolverine book.

It shouldn't be like that, you ask me. If something major happens in another book that affects this one, it should at least be spoken of, not taken for granted that you already know. Who can afford to read all the books these days?

You're right, I'm not. You're not taking about "best there is" are you? Cause I read an issue of that and it was awful. What did I miss?

It wasn't in Best. It was in the regular title. A bunch of crazy folks who wanted revenge on Logan for killing their loved ones, managed to round up kids that Logan never knew he had (Daken helped with this of course, since he's a bad guy). These kids were all fighters like he was and they didn't know he was their dad. They were mercs and they were in his way so he mowed them down. Only after they were all dead did he learn they were his offspring. That was the revenge -- they made him kill his own kids. It was all kinda lame but it really wrecked his mind.

Gotcha. Gives more credence to his position but I'm still confused in how it played out. Scott gives the kids a chance to walk away with no pressure, they decide not to, and Logan goes, "**** it. I'm blowing up utopia".

I guess Logan could argue that the kids didn't really have a choice, after all did Scott really expect any of them to willingly walk but I'm still on the fence about this. Let's see how it plays out in the last issue.

Goddamn

Jesus, it's a little depressing to know that Wolverine's smeared the world with that much of his seed...

Think about it, the guy's well over 100 years old and he's never been much for celebacy. :p He probably has more still running around out there.

There could be a whole city of hirsute dwarves somewhere out in the Canadian wilderness... :ninja:

Choppin' down trees, drinkin' whiskey, and smokin' cigars. :D

dammit corp, you just spoiled Aaron's next arc!!

lolz

Does anyone else have the most f***ed up version of the Seven Dwarves in their head right now?

stinky, stabby, horny, smokey, mopey, drunky, and...um...Doc...?

God, the things they'd do to poor Snow White if she happened to be a redhead. :csad:

see i never felt i needed that story to tell me. i thought they did i good enough job in the beginning showing his concern Idie wasnt getting a proper childhood. i dont read alot of Wolverine (only Claremont's Wolverine and Windsor-Smith's Weapon X, and one or two more recent books for artists i like) but i do feel after reading him in x-men for over 600 combined issues i have a good grasp on the character.

everyone knows hes known for having a sidekick following him around: Kitty, Jubilee, Laura, even Armor to an extent, but he's always made a habit of looking out for them even if they were tagging along on adventures. i totally believe him to be a guy who doesn't like the person he is, does everything in his power to change his old ways, and doesn't want to see that happen to any of these young kids. just look at how he handled Scott including X-23 in the first X-Force.

of course i could be totally off and i missed the issue where he and Kitty went on a killing spree in Russia while Jubilee danced in the victims' blood, but like i said i dont read his solos/minis/one-shots/specials. but as far as Schism is concerned i believe both their positions.

No Logans always been the character to look out for the teens the most. That and mixing in what happen to all his kids in his own arc could lead to this train of thought. However with other writers writing him as a mindless killer with no real personailty, it may come off as fake.

and therein lies the biggest problem with wolverine being in so many books, I suppose.

If he was only in Uncanny X-Force, Schism(followed by W&tX), and Wolverine, he'd be an amazingly written character, and a lot of the Wolvie hate around here would probably subside

He does need to be cut back. It's not like he does get the greatest use by those outside books anyhow. Mostly he growls a lot and gets thrown about or blown up. :( Not like he gets developed any.

Has Cyclops ever once, at any point in Schism, pointed the finger at Wolverine and said something to the effect of, "Maybe the kids wouldn't be so ready to kill if you didn't set such a f***ing terrible example by doing it yourself every waking moment of your life"? Because that's basically the crux of this argument. I don't care what Wolverine says, his actions--over decades now--have proven that he's down with anybody killing anybody else for just about any reason.

Pretty much, but perhaps Logan considers himself to be damned beyond help and then it doesn't matter who he kills. But he may not want that for any of the kids. He doesn't want them going down his dark path.
