X-Men - Part 2

Is Nate really all that similar to Cable beyond genetics anyway? I've always thought of them as vastly different people who just happened to come from the same genetic stock.

I've always considered them pan-dimensional siblings, along with Rachel and I suppose Ruby now. Still, Nate and Nathan do look somewhat alike, like most brothers do. Nathan is just 30 years older, half a foot taller, and with a couple of metal limbs.

A person can change quite a lot in 30 years. Nate was never as military-minded or terminally serious as Cable, as I recall. Granted, I only read a few issues of his series here and there. But I could totally see Hope falling for a kinder, less violent guy who only vaguely reminds her of her stoic, warlike father figure. It wouldn't be that creepy.

They're not remotely blood related. It would speak volumes for Hope to get in a relationship with a man who reminds her of her father, but that's not entirely unusual.
depends if Hope is a reincarnated Jean Grey because if she is then that would definetley be kind of gross

Well wouldn't they be sort of half brothers seeing as Scott Summers is both their fathers (in Nate's case an alternate reality Scott Summers).

No you are right in that they are two completely different characters. Nate isnt simply a younger version of Cable.

As for the two of them as an item? Hell no. I really hope Marvel does not go there. Even if they arent blood related it would just seem weird. Plus he has enough issues of his own to worry about that and I dont think they'd be a good fit. Im still partial to her and Hellion. I liked their interactions that Carey wrote and wish there was more.

half brothers and cousins

Nate and Cable are supposed to look alot alike Nate doesn't have the TO virus and is younger. If you de-aged Cable and took away the TO virus they would look very similar.

From what I remember from X-Man Nate Grey was somewhat confused and angry alot at first and then he eventually became a mutant hippy shaman.

Cables a trained soldier from birth basically. His whole life has been built around destroying apocalypse for the most part.

Except she's not Jean Grey. She doesn't have Jean's mind, memories, appearance, or DNA. They're both Phoenixes, but so were the Stepfords, Professor X, and some alien dude with Cloud Strife's sword.

I don't really follow Hope that much on the account I couldn't careless about her character or her team. I didn't know she is a Phoenix now. The Phoenix stuff is played out I'm surprised Marvel is still using that stuff

Jean may have created Hope in her own image.....at least that's the vibe I'm getting.

Jean may very well be behind Hope's birth in some way. We know Louise Spalding is her mother, but they could never find out who her biological dad was. Jean could be behind that in some way. I just think we're way past the possibility of Hope being Jean. Hope being Jean was an okay theory back when Hope was a baby without any sort of identity, but Hope is now a young adult with her own memories and personality. No one seems to think she even looks like Jean (quite a few X-Men and villains on Utopia knew Jean back when she was Hope's age).

Well, there isn't any conformation that she is a Phoenix, like she possessed the full force or anything, but there's plenty of hints that she's tied to it in some way.

I think back to an Uncanny X-Men #174 when Scott asked Maddie if she was the reincarnation of Jean Grey and she decked him. Now even though that was due to Mastermind screwing with the team, I think they may actually be going that route years later.

But do they really count as pan-dimensional siblings when they're actually the same person from different dimensions. Nate Grey is Cable, but 30 years younger, without the virus, and a completely different personality.

and half a foot shorter. They're as good as two different people.

Someone once argued that Nate and Cable are essentially like the children to twin mothers, since one's mother is Jean and the other is Maddie, doesn't mean that they'd both turn out exactly the same.

They arent the same person as they do not have the same parents. Its as simple as that. They are genetically equivalent to half siblings and/or cousins

She was confirmed to have manifested the PF last year in the Phoenix Handbook. Its since appeared to her in Gen Hope

It doesnt help that Bachalo is drawing bc its often hard to decipher his work. Im not looking forward to having him back. I wish he'd go back to his awesome style from the 90s

yeah his style is hit or miss.
though he usually does great work with monster stories
so it should be cool to see what this thing is that they're fighting

Bachalo is an artist whose character designs I don't really mind (I tend to lean more toward the cartoonish types), but he's a terrible storyteller. Half the time, it looks like he drew each character individually doing random poses, then randomly copied & pasted them onto the same panel; they don't interact with one another correctly.

On top of that, his backgrounds are usually far too busy. There have been many comics drawn by Bachalo where I didn't realize certain characters were present until a second read through because they blend into the background.

thats pretty ironic considering he drew your avatar
haha yeah i know. oddly enough i do like how he draws his women (hence my Psylocke) but when it comes to him telling a sequential story i think he's among the worst in the industry. like in Messiah Complex i found out on the boards that Bishop had his arm bitten off by Predator X after i had already read it.

that is one of my biggest gripes. 9 times out of ten his scenes are either covered in snow or debris or something. either way his panels are always covered in some kind of colored specs everywhere further complicating the scene.

I didn't used to mind him but yeah, sometimes I just can't follow what I see going on in his panels. At least his Gambit is improving. :)
