X-Men - Part 3

Apparently more people agree that it's better than Thunderbolts and Avengers Academy ;)

So that means it's not as good as Bendis' Avengers then, or Spider-man, or whatever else is doing way better?

No it's not... this is true. It was a good book but honestly it was getting near the bottom of my read stack. Not for lack of quality but I just keep dropping things (recently to make room for DC) and it was nearly the bottom of my Marvel list. I may have dropped it within the next six months anyway. This just made it easier.

Readers scoping out CBR's coming advance look at Marvel Comics February X-Title solicitations will notice one omission: the "X-23" solo title.

CBR News has learned that the monthly comic starring Wolverine's clone daughter has been canceled. Reached for comment, a spokesman for Marvel would not confirm the end of the series but did say that writer Marjorie Liu has more work to come from the House of Ideas.

The move comes on the heels of several abrupt cancellations earlier this month for titles including "Victor Von Doom," "Alpha Flight" and "Destroyers." However, while those projects were either miniseries that weren't yet published or solicited or one that saw its planned launch as a monthly scuttled, "X-23" presents a different case entirely. Aside from being an established monthly title, the comic is currently Marvel's only ongoing starring a female lead and the one written by arguably their most recognized female writer in Liu.

In a recent installment of his AXEL-IN-CHARGE column on CBR, Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso noted that cancellations of titles like "Alpha Flight" came in part due to "new budgetary mandates" while the publisher is bolstering its line in a tough economy by shipping extra installments of it core series in 2012. In that light it is important to note two things. Firstly, at #104 on Diamond's Sale Estimates for October books, "X-23" was not the lowest-shipping Marvel Universe series. Behind it were such comics as "Thunderbolts," "X-Factor," "Avengers Academy" and "Ghost Rider" amongst others. Secondly, in the new X-Title solicitations no less than seven books will ship two issues in February including "Uncanny X-Men" and "Wolverine & The X-Men."

Fans of the X-23 character can take heart in one respect, however. The character will beginning to appear regularly in "Avengers Academy" starting in January's issue #24 as well as take part in the upcoming "Venom" mini event.

How is X-Factor doing WORSE than X-23's book? X-Factor is one of the best X-books out there right now. As much as I liked X23, X-Factor was still better. :(

But it wasn't selling better, and going by JewHob's reasoning, it's not as good. :o

I agree X-Factor is a better book and one of the most consistently good X-titles.

X-Factor probably isn't selling as well as its not got wolverine or a knock off in it and the fact the cast is made up B-C List X-Men.

Plus there are alot of comic readers who have rubbish taste

I thrive on B and C list X-Men and X-Factor still bores me to tears. It's not been consistently good since Messiah Complex. The baby issue through the end of the Summers Rebellion was pretty good but I've not liked a single issue since then.

Honestly, the book's over rated. I love the cast but it's boring. X-23 was ten times better.

I'll read X-Factor a few years from now when the entire 2nd PAD run is collected in a trade. I like what I've heard about it but it would be pointless for me to jump on now.

Nope, X-23 was better as seen by the sales but it doesnt matter anyway as it got cancelled and X-factor is still here

+1!. Im hoping Lorna and Alex can make it more interesting but I have my doubts

Same here. I like them but I like all the characters in the book and I still get bored with it so I doubt Alex and Lorna will change that for me. I honestly just feel that the book needs a new writer or at least that he needs to trim the cast down.

Based on how Marvel cancelling books now, it's in cancellation territory. I think the only thing saving X-Factor right now is the fact that Peter David is doing the book.

I wouldn't mind if X-Factor ditched Longshot and they fought more mutant villains but other than that I got no complaints about X-Factor

Just read the new issue of WatX and Iceman is the breakout star. Using his powers like Multiple Man to create an army of ice men was amazing nad something he should have done ages ago. I loved the theme of his untapped potential being laid out in the opening bit and him starting to unleash that. I have confident that Aaron is gonna do some amazing things with him

Oh and loved the kiss with Kitty. Finally they are going there and its about time. They look like they could be a fun couple

So Iceman and Kitty are going to be a couple? Was this ever hinted in previous X books? All I've ever known is her with Peter.

To the best of my knowledge they have never had any one on one interaction in their 30 years of being in the books simultaneously. Its something Ive wanted though bc they seem to hook up quite a bit in alternate universes; Ultimate X-men, the movieverse, Wolverine and the X-men (cartoon) and I beleive it was teased in Evolution. I kinda felt they might be going there in the books when it was announced that they'd both be in this book bc this is the first time they are actually on a team together. In the Regenesis oneshot, I noticed this image which I thought was foreshadowing (Kitty turning her back on Colossus and walking towards Bobby)

Both Peters gonna be jealous (she also dated Pete Wisdom).

Damn these Hellfire Brats are vicious they are all about the killing and maiming. I would of preferred if they were teenagers though instead of twelve year olds.

Still no sign of Chamber :csad:

I dig the fact they are using classic X-Men characters like Sauron, Krakoa and the Brood. Feels like the good old X-Men comics like Claremont or (s)Louise Louise Simonson used to do.

Yeah, above all else, it's a lot of fun. Krakoa was awesome, as was Beast's comment about it. :D

Hell I even like Quentin Quire now. Can't wait to see what trouble thet little git is going to stir up.

Hi, all. I wanted to inquire - since this seems to be the appropriate thread - which of the current titles involving the X-Men/Mutants are worth picking up? I ask because I have some extra capital for my usual comic runs, but cannot afford to acquire all of the titles available. Thanks!

Seeing as we all are raving about Wolverine and the X-Men and it's only at issue 2, I'd say that. Also Uncanny X-Force. It's pretty deep into Remender's run but it had easily been the best X-Men title prior to WATXM coming around to challenge it to the title.
