Apparently the future is still a mess and he's told by Blaquesmith its c Hope wasnt around to save it. He demands to know the people responsible for what happeend to Hope and he's told its the Avengers. He then vows to take them all out and in the present day, he proceeds to attempt just that. The issue ends with him about to shoot Captain America in the head
Loeb is ruining my 2nd favorite character. I hope he gets out of this okay but when they pulled this sh-t with Bishop, well that did damage to him that they've yet to fix
On a side note, I just read Uncanny X-force and I LOVED the conclusion to the Dark Angel saga. I love how Remender writes Betsy and Warren
The way he rights Betsy is the main reason I stick with the book. That and when Remender comes up with stuff like AoA Iceman creating an army of ice clones. (SWEETNESS! t
I'm going to just come out and say that Uncanny X-Force is the best book of the decade. I used to think it was Immortal Iron Fist but not anymore. It might be the X-Men fan in me but I just can't get over how much I LOVE this book. And at first I thought this issue was going to read like a conclusion but there's still enough left open to justify the ongoing plot. There's still room to build to even bigger things!
Yeah, a tremendous ending to a spectacular arc. This has been THE title in 2011. There is a little to be explained as far as where the AoA folks go from here but according to this article posted on CBR earlier....
.....the point 1 issue next week will be mop up detail. Spinning out of that issue and this arc is an AoA ongoing. Now usually I try to avoid alternate universe ongoing books. I never read Mutant X, Exiles, X-Men Forever, ect but I'll pick this up based upon Dave Lapham (Deadpool MAX genius scribe), Roberto De La Torre art, the close ties to UXF, and most importantly, this probably opens the door for Lapham to possibly take over Uncanny X-Force one day.
Remender stated in the Secret Avenger interview that he does stories spread across 20-25 issues. Yeah, there's arcs within but they all tie together in one big saga. I think he has told the story he wanted to tell and may move on to concentrate on Venom and SA. I could be wrong but I'm going with my gut. If Lapham takes over, that would be a good thing. Rob Williams (of the cancelled Daken and Ghost Rider titles) would be a nice choice as well, his UXF Fear Itself mini was very good.
Back to the conclusion in spoilery text:
When Betsy said to Warren, "God damn you for taking him away from me", was she speaking to Apocalypse about Warren or speaking to Warren about Fantomex? Could have been either/or? Interesting......
I wonder if Kid Apocalypse aka Genesis has served his purpose or will live though this? When he was saying stuff like "you will not succeed villain", it was kinda funny and sad at the same time. He thought he was a hero but was really Fantomex's secret weapon and may have died for it. He lived in a Clark Kent style fantasy world (on a farm) to have it ripped away in an instead, so he could run off and die.
The page with Betsy stabbing Warren with the life seed was well done. Her face was bloody, bruised and has tears streaming down her face as she fatally stabbed the man she loved. She's a ninja and they don't usually get like that but this entire ordeal truly broke her.
The BEST scene above and beyond everything was her taking Warren to an imaginary world where they were married, started a family, witnessed their children start families and were together as they got old and died....all while Warren actually laid dying in the real world. She coaxed him gently into the great unknown. That's one of the best scenes ever laid out in a comic in the past 25yrs. Not much comes close to that, except the "Aunt May" death scene in ASM #400.
Another thing is that Wolverine never really factored into the conclusion. He was unconscious half the time. How many writers ever go down that route?
I liked Uncanny X-Force Dark Angel Saga because it was dark and grim. It had great characterization by a writer who knows the characters and their history. I also liked that the story was a team of X-Men with their backs against the wall and the odds against them.
The characters where also fallible which is personally what I like in Superheroes. Heroes who are overpowered, beat villains and their plots easily are boring. Its much cooler seeing heroes who make mistakes yet still over come the villain even at a cost like the whole town that got destroyed in this arc.
I also like that this wasn't a love fest on popular characters. Both Wolverine and Deadpool are in the book and neither one even made a cameo in the arc finale. The stars were Psylocke and freakin' Fantomex for God's sake. That's awesome When Warren looked behind him at the bottom panel I expected the next page to be the cliched Wolverine stab through the stomach. I was glad I was wrong. What we got was so much better.
What do you guys think of the theory that Blacquesmith is really [blackout]Bishop? Instead of going after Hope himself, he's manipulated Cable into giving the Avengers a reason to take her out for him[/blackout]. I have to say, that would make for quite the twist
Umm I'm a bit torn at that. I'm not a fan of the character but I admit I didn't like the turn he took after [BLACKOUT]Messiah Complex[/BLACKOUT] so part of me would like to see him trying to redeem himself since we last saw him. On the other hand I would agree that would be a pretty nice twist.
I reaally hope he does
Just can't think of any writer who could take this over and do it justice.
I honestly hope they end "uncanny" x-force after he leaves.
Retitle it, fine, but dont tarnish what has been a nearly perfect comic run..
Yea apparently during the conference he also mentioned Scalped will be ending soon. He still has Incredible Hulk as well, But yea I can definitely see him taking over one of Bendis's Avengers titles now.
the latest issue of Wolverine: Best There Is. The issue ends with him going to her room and getting on her bed. We dont see them do it, but it defiently looks implied that they are ready to go there. She tells him he better move forward when he tells her that he's not moving backwards anymore. As she shuts off the lights, he leans in to kiss her.

Back to Uncanny X-Force, CBR had Remender for an insight to the Dark Angel Saga conclusion and touched on future issues. SPOILER WARNING if you didn't read it yet....
Glad to hear Rick has stuff planned out for another 10 issues and the Deathlok's and Fantomex will be worked into Secret Avengers. I guess I was wrong about him leaving possibly. The man is a storytelling/structuring genius.
