Magic generally doesn't handle metals or irons very well.

Yeah, it's probably this. Steel is composed of iron, and magic doesn't mix with iron in practically every fictional usage of it.

Besides him being in armored form all the time is not safe for those around himm, especially the kids. What if someone bumps into him or he falls down? He should only be armored up in battle

Bumping into armored Pete is less dangerous than bumping into Danger with all her pointy metal bits. Unless he's running at the time, I imagine ramming into Pete isn't unlike smacking into a wall.

I remember when Colossus beat Pete Wisdom senseless in Excalibur. Wisdom managed to injure Colossus with his hot knives though.

Just iron, actually, and I'm pretty sure that's mostly British magic. Cyttorak's magic has certainly never had any problem with metal, given that the Juggernaut is sort of clothed mostly in metal.

The Adversary had trouble with it too. I'm not saying that's it, but we've seen before that Colossus' metal form is more than just a skin coating. When his died, he stayed transformed as well. I think it numbs him physically and emotionally.

I can imagine the pain caused by him accidentally stepping on someone's toes. Ouch!

I don't think it's a retcon. Technically, isn't he the oldest living member of the X-Men? He was born in the early 1900's. I think this is more like looking at his role in mutant history from a different perspective. I'd chalk it up to lousy titling.

I don't typically rage out, but the very premise makes me want to chuck something out of my ****ing window right now.

Apparently it's not enough that Wolverine is front and center in the Marvel Universe. No, we've got to retcon him into Charles Xavier's history, saying that Chuck got the idea to start the X-Men after Wolverine started a similar team first. Screw Gage, Adams, and the horse they rode in on.

It is a retcon. Wolverine wasnt a part of X-men history until Giant Size X-men. Rewriting him as being a part of Xavier's history pre-X-men #1 now is a retcon. Almsot like the Tessa thing. Oh yeah, she's been working for Xavier long before we actually met her as part of the HFC

Haha, Marvel cant even be consistent with their own definitions. Namor is the first mutant bc he was the first mutant to make it to print even though he wasnt the first in the MU. So now Wolverine might be the first X-man bc he was the first to be born (and it seems thats not even the case) even though he wasnt the first actual member of the team? Oh boy....

I hate that Namor is constantly called "the first mutant" within the context of the MU. Not only was he not the first, but I don't think he's in the Top 10. Apocalypse, Selene, Wolverine, Mystique, Destiny, Sabretooth, Dr. Nemesis, and all the "wonders" from that time travel arc in Runaways are all older than him.

Also, notice how this is a five-issue mini-series beginning in August which also means the last issue will be in December...and correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that be right around the time Avengers vs. X-Men is over? Also, notice how this is a five-issue mini-series beginning in August which also means the last issue will be in December...and correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that be right around the time Avengers vs. X-Men is over? Hmm....

Well, there's a theory out there--postulated by Comics Beat--that the end result of Avengers vs. X-Men will be that the Marvel Universe will split into two parallel worlds a la Heroes Reborn: one world which just has the X-Men and mutants, and the other with just the Avengers and other non-mutant Marvel heroes. Having a mini series about the "untold secret origin" of the X-Men coming out right around the time when Marvel's big event series that will supposedly will shake up the Marvel Universe "forever" seems more than a bit coincidental.

Or Marvel could be gearing up for the 50th Anniversary of the X-men in 2013, by releasing a new Origins mini to prepare for that come January
