X-Men - Part 7

I was a HUUUGEEEE X-Men fan all my life.

After Fraction took over and then Bendis, it just nosedived more and more. They flat out didn't even understand the X-Men or Professor Xs dream and it showed in the writing. I was worried the whole franchise was unsalvageable but I could take it for what it was if the stories were fun.

Now...

I'm resentful that the timetravelling O5 are STILL around. They outstayed their welcome within a few issues. The ACTUAL O5 are still far more interesting and would much rather a book with them.

I'm annoyed that we FINALLY get a Jean/Phoenix solo series and it's about a young bratty version that shouldn't even exist.

I'm frustrated that we finally managed to get an Iceman ongoing series, but they've swapped his sexuality for a few media brownie points to get it made. I understand they want some focus on gay characters, but I'd have genuinely rather had a book to develop more of Anole or Graymalkin (who's origin story was devastatingly sad - would love to see more of him). Marvels scared to actually grow new characters.

Even Weapon X is focussed on ANOTHER parallel universe Logan who's story has already been told. Old Man Logan - It was a good story. It was complete. It ended. We don't need to keep seeing him again. That and Sabretooth, who's good now because he literally just woke up good one day. Character development ftw!

There are SO MANY, SOOO MANY good characters in the X-Men mythos, why is such a huge amount of the X-Books dedicated to all this AU/time travel crap? Even X-Men gold has the blandest team of X-Men I've ever seen before. I'd be more excited about a series where Maggott, Extreme, StaceyX and Beak went on a road trip in the Mojoverse than I am about any of the current titles tbh.

Maybe all these alternate Wolverines are around to finally answer why Wolverine is in so many different teams. Just makes it that more funny he had to die as well.

I forgot to mention Cable's new book in my earlier reviews. I kinda like it though it's sorta simple as of yet. Does anyone else get a Weinberg era Cable run feel when they read this? That'd be the Revolution era that ran alongside Claremont's return in the X-Men books with the Neo. Maybe it's just the art, but this gives me that vibe. Maybe that's why I like it. I was always a fan of that run on the title.

X-men Gold really isn't too bad. The worst thing about #7 was how many times Storm said "are you okay, my friend." The art is a real 180 from the first issue, and everything looks gorgeous. I was actually shocked by a few things this issue: [BLACKOUT]the Rachel and Kurt ship (which I actually don't mind, and I particularly like how Nightcrawler is written), the murder of the new student, Belen, introduced in X-men Blue, and Eye-Boy losing an eye. [/BLACKOUT]

I'm pretty stoked for Jean Grey/Phoenix Generations (the art previews are gorgeous and Bunn is a great writer) and X-men Blue dealing with Emma and New Tien. I've been enjoying Jean Grey and Iceman, and Astonishing is filling some of the gaps in terms of team composition in the X-books. I would definitely say that Ressurexion has done wonders for the X-men, but that's just me.

The newer New Mutants debut in Cable #150

What a random team

not that random some at marvel is mostlike gonna address that plot about dazzler abd long shot connection to shatter star and that miscarriage she mention when she was spposedly searching for long shot before he showed on exiles which was left dangling for long over due.

that stupidness, about wanting everycharacter that was younger then sue an Reed Richards that were supposed married separated During the end of joe Q's term as head editor of marvel and new x-men start and peter made deal with demon to save aunt but it his marriage was the price .

Then dazzler just weirdly ended up in Excalibur doing concert of all thing's as if she just didn't care for finding long shot any more to tell him about that kid that may have been taken from her belly.
and shatter star was with blinks exiles.

Well at least someone in the writers is gonna finally come to address that I guess. if they are going to say they aren't related, it'll be resolved I guess but it really stupid after the pages of cable where he was looked at by Beast and it said they said the both have same genetics and bone structure. after shatter star was injure in that airport him and cable were at.

So many danglers that shouldn't have been left that way oy.

Yes it is random. Blink (dressed in AOA gear), Laura (as X-23, not Wolverine), Longshot, Armor and Doop have no connection to Cable and outside of Laura and Armor, none to each other. Shatterstar is the only character on this new lineup that has a strong association with Cable

You must have missed years worth of comics as that plotline was already addressed years ago. Its not a dangling thread

so your sayting dazzler told long shot about her kid cause i'm sure they didn't head there and I'm not that off with book I'm more caght up then you think. as for blink that looks from aoa is too iconic for some certain people mostly the writers.

I bet beast never even bother to asked long shot about that part he discovered about shatter star since to long shot ether. or to ether of them.

if that was address alot of people have seen it it seem's

also would i like to see blink in another costume ? yes . but alot more writers are alot more lost then, I'll ever be other wise we wouldn't have so many rehash's to begin with. next to danglers.

which is on both them and the marvel editors cause they can't be bothered to keep up them selve's come paired to me that used to work on x-men fan said that did a far better job of keeping up then they did.

latest

lol awesome they met (oh wait do have that issue.) how much of that was addressed like if ever told him (likely not which weird for some that talk as much as him) and if this current writer's knows of with out it seeming like weird rehash like when scott talk to corsair when he came back in time for EOD is another thing . lol any ways we'll see.

it's also ashame not many of the fan dom noticed it.

Dazzler is Shatterstar's mother and Longshot is his father/clone. Shatterstar timetraveled when she gave birth, took the baby (himself) to be raised in the future so that he could be sent back to the past and be cloned as Longshot, who will eventually impregnate Dazzler with himself. Both Dazzler and Longshot's memories were altered so that they would have no recollection that this happened

the minnd altering I know about other wise she wouldn't have thought it was miscarriage or stolen / the proper word is kidnapped here baby in womb or not and had been searching for long shot. which forcely dropped inbetween when it should have be actively search out. in stead of random even bring it to happen.

I think the issue for me here is that long shot has yet to you know act fatherly fully .

but sadly the heroes aren't ever given the chance to properly do that. it only a rare few and when there's writer that want break that habit. .

lol there the article on CBR on father's day where he red skull is abetter father then alot of the heroes and all due tothe writers. or them making other act like wolverine in that in his free time in stead of looking in on any of those kids he's fathered he's too busy ether trying or stealing his team leader's girl friend or wife and then he leave til those kids are old enough to track him down .

the freaking red skull a better parent the the heroes. cause he actually raised his kid. seriously. and shudders. worst thing to ever hear.

so ether way this will be good for the two. for a freaking change. as far as marvel will allow it.

It is a random team, but I like random teams, especially when they have characters that haven't been featured much. These are versions of the character displaced from different time periods, right? I want Shatterstar back, but only with his X-Factor characterization.

X-men Blue was awesome, we also got to see some characters left out of Resurrexion rosters.

As a 90s fan... I was shocked and excited to see [blackout]Mondo[/blackout] show up in X-Men Blue. I don't give a crap about the O5, but Bunn is doing a great job with that book.

The O5 isn't the most exciting cast, but Bunn is making the book a whole lot of fun.

Bunn is a great writer. His Magneto series was fantastic. Not X-Men related, but his Sinestro series over at DC was my favorite DC book prior to the Rebirth relaunch. And at that point I'd lost all interest in the Green Lantern books. In fact the only miss I've ever read by him was his brief Aquaman run shortly before the Rebirth relaunch.

He is. He is why I had confidence that people who were willing to give the book a fair chance, would turn around on Blue despite not liking the O5. Bunn crafted a great premise and is now doing a good job of integrating it into Secret Empire without derailing the plotline of the book

Really enjoyed Astonishing. A bit odd that they ignored Bishop's latest relationship with the X-men while hitting on other's pretty hard.

I think if you are annoyed with Gold, then Astonishing is very much up your alley.

Wow. Astonishing X-men #1 is the best comic launched in Resurrxion and the single best issue I've read in a long time.

Agreed! This was a breath of fresh air. Gold is lackluster, im even enjoying blue more while that team has none of my favorite X-men.

Astonishing really surprised me. The bromance between Gambit and Fantomex is awesome.

I was so excited about Astonishing that I forgot about Gold haha.

Gold is much more pleasant to read when it has a good artist, like it has for the last few issues. Eight was a solid issue; I really like the Mutant Deportation Bill since it's topical, kind of in a way that the mutant marriage ban mirrored Proposition 8 during Fraction's run. X-men should tell stories that reflect the real world. I think Gold is good, but it definitely doesn't give me the X-High that Astonishing did.
